How to create a podcast with AI using Notebook LM (2026 Edition)

Robyn Anderson shows how to use Google's NotebookLM to turn blog posts, PDFs, and videos into podcast episodes. Upload a source, pick an audio format like debate or deep-dive, and the AI generates a finished episode you can download or embed anywhere.

I just had a friend ask me if I knew how to make a podcast with AI. And I do. And so I showed him and he was like, this is awesome. Everyone should know about this. So let me show you how to do it. All you have to do is go over to NotebookLM. NotebookLM is actually in your Google workspace. So if you use Google Workspace, you can just click there and you can scroll down and find NotebookLM. Once you're in, you'll see I've created a bunch of notebooks. But you can create your own notebook by hitting the plus. And the cool part is basically you can create a podcast from any information. My friend wanted to create a podcast from the blogs on his website and I thought that's actually a really good idea. So let's do the same thing. I'm just pulling a blog link from my website and let me grab that for you guys. Okay, so this is saying, do you want to search the web for new sources? And I'm going to say no, I actually know the exact link that I want. So I'm going to add my blog post. So my blog post is loading up and basically you can add a lot of sources. I think up to 300 sources over on this side. They could be PDFs, YouTube videos, websites. You're really just unlimited on the types of files that you're adding over there. Now here I could chat with it. And so my blog article is all about are meta ads still effective due to AI driven search? So I'll just say, should I do meta ads? And see this turns into somewhat of an LLM chatbot in a way. So, but, but instead of searching the entire Internet of the world, it's going to answer just from the sources that you upload. So it's going to answer from there. While that's going, you can see over here in the studio you have a lot of different options. We're going to go ahead and click this little pencil on audio overview. So there's deep dive where it's a full conversation between two hosts. There's a brief that's like a bite sized overview, that's audio of your source. There's a critique that an expert reviews your source, offering you feedback to improve your material. So if you're doing like a research paper or a proposal or something, I use critique and then a debate. So a thoughtful debate between two hosts. So let's click that and then I could customize it in here so I could say make this debate around. If small business owners with smaller Budgets should use meta ads. All right, so you just hit generate and you go refill your coffee because it takes like 10 minutes. And then you come back and I'll show you the podcast. Okay, we're back, and my podcast is done. Let me show you what it looks like. All right, so here we are, and you can see right here. I'll zoom in. It says meta's. Let's see. Meta's algorithm demands debate, so you can just hit play.
Welcome to the debate. It's early 2026, and the digital ground beneath our feet has definitely shifted again. We're looking at a meta ecosystem that has just posted a. Well, a staggering $196 billion in ad revenue. It's a behemoth. But inside that massive number lies attention that I think keeps a lot of entrepreneurs up at night.
So the cool part with this is you could add to it and it will add it into the podcast. So that's pretty cool. The other thing that you can do is, oh, you can download it, you can share it. So I would download this, and then I could add it to my blog over here, and I can have both the copy as well as the podcast style. I could also just go and upload it to our podcast, which we do all the time. So we have a podcast where we interview our members and talk about how they're using AI half the time, and then half the time we use our AI to generate podcasts. So that's exactly how we do it in NotebookLM. So that's how easy it is to create a podcast with NotebookLM. Go ahead and tell me what you're going to create in the comments.
