Free AI services like ChatGPT and Claude train on your conversations, making you the product. Your individual chats stay private from competitors, but if you handle proprietary data, pay for a subscription to keep it out of their training.

The number one thing I'm asked about is data security when it comes to using free tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and things like that. So I do want you to know that when the product is free, you are the product, meaning all of the conversations that you are having with the model are being used to train the model. Now, that doesn't mean that your competitors can go in and search and say, What did Kelly Fitzgerald just type into ChatGPT about her company? That's not how it works. It's trained. It's using computer language to train those models. People cannot search your specific chats. However, the information that's out there is training the model on how to do things. So if you have a very proprietary system, you may want to think about upgrading and buying an upgraded subscription so that your content is not used to train the model. Hopefully that helps.
