Zero To Claude: Day 1: The Command Center

Robyn Anderson shows how to set up Claude: create an account on claude.ai, pick a plan (free or Pro), and install the desktop app. The Pro plan unlocks higher limits, Projects, memory, and file access. Two users credit the Jam AI community for speeding up their learning and business results.

Welcome to day 1 of our 6-week sprint of Zero to Claude. So here we are starting at zero completely, and the first thing we're going to do is create an account. So we're going to go to claude.ai/login, and you can either set it up by entering your email and a password, or you can go ahead and hit continue with Google. I'm a Google user, so I'm gonna go ahead and hit Continue with Google. Select your account, and from there it wants you to agree to its terms, so go ahead and do that and then hit Create an Account. It'll ask you how you're planning to use Claude. If you're using it for your team, select this, but for most of you, you're going to hit For Personal Use. Now, of course, you can use the free version. I would highly suggest getting the pro version for a couple reasons. You will definitely hit your usage limits on this free version. I will be showing you how to use Cowork and Projects, and the updated models and memory and access to Claude in Chrome is really nice. However, I know not everybody has, you know, an extra $17 a month floating around, so go ahead and select whichever one feels best for you. So now we're logged in and the first thing we're going to do before we even do anything is we're going to get the desktop app. And the reason we're going to get the desktop app is because we are going to be real architects, not just using AI as a chatbot. And when we have it as a desktop version, we can actually give it access to our files, our folders, have it do actual work for us. Whereas if we're using it here just on our browser, it does, it's a little bit more of a chatbot. So let's go ahead. We're going to hit open sidebar. We're going to click on our names and you'll see this little thing that says get apps and extensions. So go ahead and click that. Now close your eyes and skip over all this fun stuff. And you're going to want to find where it says desktop. So you can download it both for Mac or PC. It just knows that I'm a Mac. And you can also download it for your phone, which I highly suggest you do that as well. So we just wanna make sure everything is connected and ready to go. So there is a little video here that shows you exactly how to do it, but it's super easy. You just hit download. It then goes to your download area and you're gonna open up Claude.dmg and then you'll just slide this little picture into the folder. And this is the same thing on a PC. And then you'll either go to your applications or on Windows, you'll open up Claude. And that's how you can launch the desktop.
Just couldn't wrap my head around the technology. And what I've accomplished since I've joined Jam AI has been phenomenal. I'll just be saying, I know nothing about coding. And this has changed my life. Being a part of Robyn's community has completely changed my life.
And I'm doing it way faster. So what I did in 3 months last year, I've done now about 3 weeks' time. This is the business, this is the group, this is the organization to be a part of. Again, I've learned more probably in the last year and a half than I probably would have if I wouldn't have been part of this. So I am so thankful to you, Jam, and all your team for everything that you've actually educated me on today. I'm looking forward to what's, uh, what's, what's ahead.
I was really overwhelmed learning together and experiencing things together, um, has been instrumental. And even if it feels over your head, like, this community, as you can tell just from this call, we're all very helpful, friendly, like, we're, we're here to help each other.
