StartUp Founders are in the #Moonshot business

James Sinclair tells first-time founders they're in the moonshot business. Your job is execution and conviction, not knowing everything. Hire specialists, learn as you go, and expect the ups and downs.

I think a big piece of feedback that first time entrepreneurs need to hear is that you are the CEO founder of your startup and no one expects you to know everything about everything. No one expects you to be the best leader, the best manager, the best engineer, the best culture creator, the best strategist. No, we expect that you are going to hire into those people. We expect you are going to learn as you go. We expect you are going to have huge ups and downs, but you're not being invested in or asked to understand all the millions of things that go into running a startup. We expect you to be a generalist and just make it work. What your principal role is as the founder is the execution is the fact that you have this unwavering conviction and belief around your idea and you're building a strategy and you know exactly how to do it and everyone can get out of your way because you're going to make it happen. That's what we're betting on, your ability to execute despite all of the odds. Good luck.
