A short YouTube segment warning about a self-reinforcing cycle where people use alcohol to relieve stress and anxiety, but alcohol worsens sleep and cognitive symptoms, which in turn increases next-day irritability and leads to further drinking. The speaker frames alcohol as a temporary palliative that ultimately amplifies stress, anxiety, and impaired sleep, creating a recurring dependence loop.

This perpetual vicious cycle where we drink because we think it's relieving us of stress and anxiety, and yet what it's actually doing is creating more stress and anxiety. So a lot of people stop, have a glass of wine or a couple of glasses of wine or a beer at the end of the day, just need a couple of drinks to relax. It's now going to compromise your sleep qual quality, which is going to leave you feeling irritable and foggy and distracted the next day. And because you don't want to feel irritable and foggy and distracted the next day, you end up consuming something to try and relieve you from that irritability and that fogginess and that distraction, which at the end of a long day, guess what is alcohol, right? And we stuck in the cycle.
