Short YouTube video segment (uploaded April 8, 2024) in which the speaker frames "biohacking" as a loose label for human optimization. The speaker attributes the term to Dave Asprey, gives Asprey's origin story (health struggles turned to experimentation), and uses a mind-as-software/body-as-hardware metaphor to argue we are disconnected from the mind–body connection.

Biohacking is just a label, right? I mean, maybe it's a human optimization, maybe it's just transformation, right? I wouldn't get stuck on it. I think Dave Asprey, you know, the founder of the term and the biohacking, who I worked with for many years at Upgrade Labs, and up till today, we work with him quite heavily, essentially. You know, he's kind of branded that term, but he was one of us. He was sick, tired, he was obese, and he was really not having it in this life in the simplest terms. And so then because he was a hacker, he was a computer hacker, he started figuring out, well, if you can hack a computer, you can hack your body. And it's ironic because we use a lot of that terminology in the consciousness space where I view the mind as the software and the body as the hardware. And whatever you code into the body, it's supposed to listen. But we've become so disconnected from that mind body connection.
