Amy Johnson explains how stress and fatigue strengthen habit pathways, and why habits feel harder to break when you're tired or under pressure. She offers one concrete tool: pause when you feel the urge to do an unwanted habit.
You're a doctor in habits. You've got a PhD in habits.
So our habits make a huge impact. Neurons that fire together wire together when we're tired or stressed or fatigued or time poor. The more dopamine we get, the more pain we experience. We see a really high rate of things like addiction and drug misuse. There's no answer to this. Which sucks. If you're feeling the urge to do an unwanted habit, just pause.
You said it was a traumatic experience.
My world just completely tore apart. The betrayal was deep and it was confusing. My mind said to me, if you were so wrong about him, what else are you wrong about? I developed agoraphobia, which is the fear of leaving your own house. The brain is incredible how overnight it can change.
