Chapters
The issue with, you know, having these huge peaks in dopamine is that we build a tolerance for dopamine. Firstly, half an hour scrolling on your phone's enough and within a couple of weeks it's nowhere near enough and you're having to do an hour and then two hours and five hours just to feel normal again. Dopamine can come from things like sugar, phone scrolling, you know, sex, all like things that we do every day and they're not unhealthy. It's when we abuse or misuse those things. Well then on the other side, things that give us huge amounts of dopamine are things like nicotine, illicit drugs, alcohol. And it's really hard to find natural sources of dopamine that are going to make us feel as good, which is why those things can be so.
Addictive 100%. And the fact that the habit loop is a, is a fact, it works. When you get something negative like a drug, whether it's caffeine, whether it's alcohol, nicotine, the habit loop is so powerful, it's just self fulfilling.
