True drive comes from purpose, not discipline. If you're chasing goals that don't genuinely fuel you, you'll burn out. Align what you commit to with what actually matters to you.

We oftentimes try to discover drive where the answer isn't drive. You might be driven, but you might be depleted. Or the thing that you thought you were driven by isn't actually the thing that you should be driven by. So it's either lack of discipline or lack of connection with the purpose that you thought existed in that space. And that tension has to be resolved in order for us to meaningfully persevere in the direction of our goal. People doing is grinding, exhausting themselves, pursuing something, trying to contort themselves into something different in order to fulfill a requirement that doesn't fuel them in any way. And you can do that, but the outcome is quite suboptimal. So purpose precedes drive. If you make it be your business that the purpose that you are persevering and pursuing is all about you, that this is the most important thing that you can see yourself committed to in this moment in time, then you will be driven.
