Brené Brown's technique for fighting fair: say out loud the story you're telling yourself about the conflict, then ask your partner if it's true. This surfaces assumptions before they spiral into bigger arguments.

I think Brené Brown actually does a really good job of talking about this, uh, this kind of process of creating these stories and why it's so important to talk about what it is that your brain is saying. And I love the way she puts it. She said that she and her husband say, the story I'm telling myself right now is this, true or false? And it allows then her husband to say, well, that is not what I mean at all, or that is exactly what I mean. And I think that's so important. And thinking through it in that way of like, this is a story, this is what my brain is interpreting this as. True or false?
