James Laughlin argues that the root "-cide" (to kill) reframes "decide" as the act of killing off other options. He links indecision and procrastination to lack of fulfillment, urging listeners to choose and commit to what truly matters. The clip ends with a direct prompt: what do you need to decide upon today?
Suicide, homicide, pesticide. What do all those things have in common? Well, C, I, D, E. The last four letters. What does that mean? It means to kill. So decide. What does that mean? It means to kill off all other options. So people who tend to go around in circles, people who tend to lack fulfillment, they tend to be also people who procrastinate. They don't like to think and then make decisions. But when you decide on something, that's you deciding to cut off all other options and get going on what truly matters. So what is it that you need to decide upon today?
