A short YouTube monologue (uploaded March 21, 2024 by James Laughlin) encouraging listeners to seek out diverse people and perspectives. The speaker uses the metaphor of a "patchwork quill" to describe how encounters with people different from oneself (appearance, religion, political views, race) enrich experience and make one a better person.

I am a patchwork quill of every individual that I've encountered through my lifetime. And the more different that individual is from me. Different in appearance, different perhaps in religion and faith and different political views or different race. The more different that person is, the more I have to learn from them. That will make me a better person and my patchwork quilt of experience a richer, more vibrant quilt.
