Well, it's one simple thing, and that is mindset. How we set our mind determines our beliefs, our behaviors, how we show up, execution, and of course, the results. And I want to talk about the BS that runs through each and every one of us. Those belief systems, the BS that sits behind our subconscious is what drives a lot of how we see the world. Let's start with this. Let's look at mindset just for a second. What is mindset? Well, mindset is a set of beliefs that ship how you make sense of the world around you. So I want you to think about that for a second. These set of beliefs that you have that are often right at the base of your subconscious mind, they're not consciously there. You don't decide them, they're sitting there. They've been shaped over months, years and decades. Those set of beliefs shape how you make sense of the world around you. So money with beliefs about that love, relationships, success, failure. Look, the greatest performers spend time rewiring their mindset to help them with their outcomes. As you know, I'm almost done writing my book on high performers. I've been working on it for a wee while now. It's coming out this year with HarperCollins. Super excited to bring it to the world. But I've done so much research and went even deeper for this book than I ever have before. Around mindset. What great looks like what the greatest operators do in business, sport and life. And the very first understanding is just what is it? And we've highlighted that. Please take a moment to think about that. It's the set of beliefs that shape how you make sense of the world around you. Now, as you know, there are a few different types of mindset. We've got two which really come to mind. Growth, which is, I think, a really great way to be, or fixed, which I don't think is a great way to be. What's a fixed mindset? Well, that's where you believe that you were just born with what you've got and you have no control over changing how you think, how you know, how smart you are, et cetera. A growth mindset is that you were born with a certain set of tools that you can ship and you can influence. So I want you to think about where you sit and maybe in different parts of your life you are more growth, mindset and other Parts of your life, you might be more fixed mindset. So let's just explore that. So if you are fixed in your mindset, you'll probably not be curious, you'll probably resist change, you won't be open to new ideas. You know, you'll be going, no, we've always done it this way, so we should stick with that. No, the seniors always sit at the back of the bus, so we should always stick with that. Fixed mindset is not a great way to grow. It's not a great way to build teams. It's not a great way to succeed in your own goals. To me, the best way and all the easier way in the long run is to have a growth mindset. This understanding that you can learn and you can find solutions and you can upskill and you can change. Just having that alone is a game changer. If you catch yourself criticizing others, pointing the finger, then you're probably a little bit more on the fixed mindset. But great thing is you can choose to have a growth mindset. What are you going to choose today? Let's take a minute and just look at your mindset and reset it. Anyone can reset their mind. That's why it's called mindset. You get to reset it at any point. We understand that obviously beliefs at the very base of our mindset shape our actions, our behaviors. So if we can get into the beliefs that can really shape everything that comes after it. So bs. Belief systems are things that have been repeated over and over to us or by ourselves, to ourselves, often enough that we actually begin to believe it. We can see this in indoctrination. You know, when people are told something about religion and this is true and this is real and they start to believe it. You know, we even see this with Santa. You say this often enough. You say it over and over, people start to believe it. So beliefs are just simply things that we repeat over and over or are repeated to us and we take them on as truth. Those are our beliefs. Now, some of those beliefs serve us and some of them hold us back for a long time. Here's one. I had a belief about money as a young man and a young boy. I believed that money didn't grow on trees. And often when I'm delivering high performance workshops with corporates and with teams, I talk about the beliefs and we always talk about money because we can all connect on the money side because we all need it to a certain degree. I believed it didn't grow on trees. So that belief shaped my view of the world around me. So I didn't see a lot of money. I certainly didn't think there was an abundance of it. I struggled to attract it. I struggled to keep it. Now, one book shaped that, and I've shared it with you in recent episodes. It was the One Minute Millionaire. I read it when I was 18. I. I've read it multiple times since. But that rewired my beliefs, and I started to repeat things over and over and read things and reinforce things that change my belief system around money. And that has led to so many more opportunities and growth. What I'm saying here is that pick the thing that you need to rewire. Relationships, success, failure, fear. What are your beliefs about these things? Which one most needs your attention? And then all I'd like you to do is go, what do I believe about it? What do I believe about failure? Okay, is that helping me or hindering me? Okay. It's actually hindering me. Okay, next step. What could I believe in an ideal world about failure? Now, you might not believe it right now, you most likely won't. But in the ideal world, what could I believe about failure that would help me to move towards my goals? That's where we want to start. Get granular with it. Get your journal out and get granular with one belief that's holding you back. We call those limiting beliefs. They simply limit us, Limit our behaviors, limit our potential. Understanding what they are and getting to the root of them are going to help you to really level up. So please do that exercise. Another thing to think about is what we say we become. So when we repeat things, you might call it self talk. When we repeat things often enough, we start to think like that, become that, shape our decisions around that talk. So I had a young athlete who was trying to make it into the pros and stay in the pros. And we talked about his beliefs, and he believed that the current professionals were better than him, much more experienced than him. They'll get the gig. He won't. And we just started talking about what he needed to believe. He came up with this word that really changed his life, and it was relentless. He believed that if he was relentless, he'd get the gig. Now we started talking about, how do we become relentless? Well, we've got to start telling ourselves that we are relentless. James Clear's book Atomic Habits, talks a lot about. About identity, about shaping the identity and identifying with the identity of the person you want to become in the future. So this young athlete, we started saying, I am relentless. I am relentless. He would Say it over and over multiple times in the morning. And I taught him how to set with conviction, absolute passion. And when you attach emotion to this reframing of the language, man oh man, is it powerful. In fact, I want to share that with you. I've got a free high performance masterclass all on beliefs.
