A short excerpt from a YouTube interview (host James Laughlin with guest Campbell Johnstone) discussing the normalization of being openly gay. Johnstone reflects that increased normalization helps everyone and explains his prior hesitation to come out publicly stemmed from internal struggles and not being fully comfortable with himself.
If you were living in this day and age, right, what would you do around that gay piece? Would you say, I'm going to be more open about it. I'm going to just embrace it. Where do you think the world is at right now?
I think, yeah. I think the world, the more we normalize it, the better it becomes for everyone. I think we're at a point in this world where it is getting really normalized. And that was a discussion point when we decided to come out and come out publicly. Is that the reason why I hadn't done it previously was because I was still having internal battles with myself and I still wasn't 100% comfortable with myself?
