Short excerpt from a YouTube video by James Laughlin (uploaded April 23, 2024) contrasting perceived benefits of alcohol with the value of not drinking. The speaker recounts being kicked out of the Playboy Mansion while drunk, calls alcohol an “attractively packaged poison,” and frames sobriety as a gift/reward while describing drinking as a kind of prison.

You're actually better off drinking alcohol for breakfast. I did get thrown out of the Playboy Mansion. I'm not an alcoholic or anything, but I was drunk and I got kicked out. Numb that feeling with a glass of attractively packaged poison. Alcohol equals fun or relaxation. Not drinking alcohol equals I'm in a prison, for goodness sake. Lighten up, will you? Not drinking is the gift. Not drinking is the reward. Drinking is the prison.
