A speaker (self-described left-leaning capitalist) criticizes current U.S. political leadership, arguing that both Democrats and Republicans are failing to address citizens' needs. The speaker contends elected officials focus on retaining power and intra-party squabbles rather than doing the hard but necessary work to improve people’s lives.
I am. I tend to be left leaning, although I consider myself to be a capitalist. And I just think that right now, in the US in particular, we are severely lacking in leadership in the people that we have elected to office. And I would say, honestly, on both sides of the aisle. Right. Like, I have a predisposition to vote Democratic. And I'm I think the Democrats have done, you know, a reasonably good job over the past couple of years as they have been in charge, but they haven't done anything like what needs to be done. And nor have the Republicans. Right. It's a group of people who are all squabbling among each among themselves to try to hang on to power, as opposed to think about what's actually going on in people's lives. How might we do the right thing, even if it's the hard thing.
