Excerpt from a YouTube video titled "The video ALL VOTERS need to watch" (uploaded Aug 10, 2023 by James Laughlin) featuring Christopher Luxon. In this excerpt Luxon expresses personal commitment to New Zealand, emphasizes a mission to improve the economy to reduce the cost of living, and argues the country should be more outward-looking and connected to the world.
I want this country to realise its potential when you had to harden up and be a bit tougher and more direct. I am incredibly grateful and blessed to be a New Zealander. Yeah. I think if you're connected to mission and purpose, you say, that's what's really important to me. And I feel deeply committed to New Zealand and making it better.
You look at Twitter and you go, I think I might just stay in the embryo position. Over the covers today. There's a lot of activity, a lot of busyness, but no achievement in results. I've just got to be ruthlessly focused on. We're there to fix the economy so that we can reduce the cost of living.
Have become inward looking, insular, isolated, a bit wet and whiny and negative. I want us to be much more open to the world, because that has huge advantages.
