Toughness has a very short lifespan. It just allows you to handle this moment of time when your blister can either stop you right here, or you can continue on until you reach the next checkpoint. And maybe you can apply something to your blister so that you don't fail the selection or the training course. Right? So that's toughness. But you can't carry on with toughness. Toughness is deafening. Toughness is not nuanced enough. Not nuanced enough for life. So if you go about being tough about things, there is a whole heap that isn't connecting with you that you aren't processing, that you aren't absorbing, and that you aren't learning from. And if you play the bigger game, which is the resilience game, that means that you don't need to hold yourself tough in as many situations.
