Hyaluronidase only dissolves hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm and Restylane. It does nothing to Sculptra, Radiesse, silicone, or other non-HA fillers. Dr. Jane Yoo says you need to know which filler was used before trying to dissolve it.

Hi everyone, I'm Dr. Jane Yoo, board-certified dermatologist and Mohs surgeon. If you've had your filler dissolved twice with no result, this may be why. Hyaluronidase only breaks down hyaluronic acid. Juvederm, Restylane, RHA, and Belotero are all hyaluronic acid fillers, so these can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. Sculptra does not dissolve with hyaluronidase. Radiesse doesn't. Silicone doesn't. Those are chemically different substances, and the enzyme has no activity against them. You could keep injecting all the hyaluronidase you want, but it won't dissolve those products. So before anyone tries to dissolve your filler for a 3rd time, find out exactly what's in your face. That may mean looking at your previous treatment records, or in more complicated cases, using imaging. The important thing is that we're just not guessing here.
