Hello, we just finished Aileen's Mohs surgery. This is the pressure bandage that we put on her stitches after we were done. Everything you need to know should be in this packet, Aileen. Do you have any questions? Um, I do actually. So how soon can I shower? So you do need to keep your bandage on for tonight, but you can take it off tomorrow morning and shower. And while you're in the shower, just remember to gently clean it with some soap and water. So we recommend using Dove soap, so here's a sample of that for you. Thank you. And after the shower, what do I do with it? How do I take care of it? So after the shower, just use a washcloth or some towel, just pat it dry gently, and you can just put some Aquaphor or Vaseline on it. At our office, we use Aquaphor, so here's a sample of it for you. Thank you. So just take a little Q-tip and just spread it over there. And like, let's say I want to leave the house and go do something, like how do I— what do I do with the wound? So if you have plans of going outside, you should definitely cover it. So just a little piece of gauze, some tape over it, that should be great to block out any dirt or debris. If you're staying at home, you don't really need to do that, you can just leave it open. Okay, and should I expect any bleeding or anything like that? Since Dr. Yoo stitch the wound closed, you shouldn't expect a lot of bleeding. There might be some little spots. If you do see that, just wash it with soap and water again, pat it dry gently, apply the Aquaphor again, and you'll be good to go. You may experience some itching, which is really common, so just know that's normal and don't be worried about it. Okay, I think those are all of my questions. Thank you so much. Okay, great. We'll see you in 1 week to get your stitches removed.
Yes, see you in a week.
Don't forget to remove your bandages before you take a shower the next morning. After your shower, go ahead and pat dry your wound with a washcloth. Then apply some Aquaphor with a Q-tip on the wound to keep the wound nice and moist. If you are going outside for any reason, you wanna cover your wound. You can do so with a piece of gauze and tape it down on the edge. You do this to protect your wound from any dirt or possible infection.
