Jane Yoo compares ISDIN Fusion Water SPF 50 across regions. The European version uses Tinosorb S and Uvinul T150, modern filters that are photostable and lightweight. The U.S. version relies on older avobenzone, which is less stable, thicker, and slower to absorb.

For the past 10 years, there's pretty much never a day I'm not using the Isdin Fusion Water Magic SPF 50. But here's the thing: the version I use is from Spain. The US version? Not the same. So let's talk about the differences. The European version is formulated with two modern UV filters that aren't approved in the US: Tinosorb S and Uvinul T150. These are some of the most advanced filters available. Tinosorb S is a broad-spectrum filter that protects against both UVA and UVB rays. It's super photostable and oil-soluble and helps stabilize other filters in the formula. It's also water-resistant and performs well even at low concentrations. Uvinul T 150 is a high-efficiency UVB filter. It offers strong protection and just with a small amount, it doesn't break down easily in sunlight. It also sticks well to the skin, which helps with water resistance. Now let's take a look at the US version. Because of outdated FDA regulations, we don't have access to the newest filters here. Instead, the US version uses older chemical ingredients that may cause adverse reactions in people with sensitive skin, like avobenzone. They're effective but less stable, and you can feel the difference. The US version is thicker and takes longer to absorb. It still gives you a nice finish, but it's not as ultra-lightweight or as milky in texture as the European one. They look pretty similar on the skin, but the experience isn't quite the same. So if you're traveling to Europe or know someone who is, don't sleep on the Fusion Water Magic from The Source. Same bottle, but a bit of a different experience.
