A man was beaten into a coma by three attackers just before turning 22, leaving his face so shattered he needed full reconstruction with bone grafts and metal plates. His head swelled to three times its normal size. He describes seeing his unrecognizable reflection and how his family and friends pulled him through.
The hardest thing I went through was just before my 22nd birthday and was jumped on the street, beaten into a coma by 3 guys, full face reconstruction, bone graft surgeries, metal plates, new teeth, and pronounced dead from it. Survived death and then seeing my reflection for the first time looking like a monster. I didn't even know who the person was. My head must have been 3 times the size from swelling. I had no mouth.
