A pilot metaphor shows why overcorrecting when you're slightly off course makes things worse. Real recalibration needs two parts: learning from people in similar situations, and internal work like meditation to understand yourself better.

If you're a pilot and you've got 1 degree off your destination and you just go full steam ahead going as quickly as possible, you're going to be in a much worse position than someone that's maybe 1 degree off, goes much, much slower, and then recalibrates. But there's different forms of recalibration. So we have meeting someone else that's in a similar situation and learning from their experience. Then there's deep internal calibration, which is meditation, a bunch of other stuff that you can kind of pursue to find out more about yourself rather than find out more about the external world. And I think both of those are important.
