Two speakers explore why money doesn't guarantee happiness, but argue that understanding your hidden beliefs about wealth does matter. They point out that most people don't know what they actually believe about rich people or success, and these contradictions block growth. Instagram scrolling replaces the self-reflection needed to sort through them.
money doesn't make you happy.
People say that, you read it. Over time you start fucking believing that money will make you happy.
So why even try, right, to become rich or make money if it doesn't make you happy? Yeah. If that is correlated, like you said, with the belief— yeah, I want to be rich, but also I want to become this person— then this belief wouldn't allow you to become—
yeah. And in reality, like, most of the time we're not even aware of what our beliefs are unless we try to identify them. So like, if you had sat down and said, all right, I want to be rich, but I believe rich people are this, that, and whatever, you would realize there's a conflict and maybe you would look into it. But if you don't actually try to take a moment to say, what are my beliefs about life and what do I want to be and do they conflict with each other? You would never know that that internal conflict exists, especially in today's day and age where the moment you might start thinking about it, your brain's like, nah, let's just go scroll on Instagram instead.
Right?
Right. You don't even go down that path at all. Doing that deep personal work and understanding yourself, I think, is the key to unlock next levels of success in any area of life.
