A philosopher discusses how studying Muslim and Christian traditions shaped their approach to Western philosophy. Their religious upbringing in both Islam and Christianity provided the foundational cultural context for their philosophical work.
You studied the Muslim religion and the Christian religion, or the Baptist religion first? Yes, I'm Christian, yes. I'm curious, does that tie into things you've learned in philosophy from a religious standpoint, or?
Yes, of course it influenced my background in my study of philosophy. To talk about Christianity, Christianity formed a very big background of Western philosophy. Okay. Yeah, and Islam also formed a very big background because basically these are Abrahamic spirituality. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. So that gave me some background. I think that's the only background I had coming here, nothing else.
Yeah.
