In this episode, I'm interviewing Suresh Madhaven, and his story is crazy. He went from being a medical student to a police officer to an entrepreneur creating body armor. Not only do we dive into some politics— yeah, we share some views, but we're very open-minded about it— but we go into lots of other things: personal development, growth, how to build a successful life in general. Yes.

And like, I happen to agree with you. A lot of people listening probably are getting frustrated listening to us talk right now. We all want what's best, right? But I wonder where that fine line comes in because it's like, like, for example, I watched the— I think it was a congressional speech that Trump gave, like, and I watched it live. Like, I'm not super into politics. I don't really consume much news. I don't have social media on my phone currently, so I'm kind of disconnected. And I wanted to do an experiment. I wanted to see if I watch this myself and then the next day I go and read all the articles, does it portray what I actually watched? And it certainly did not portray what I watched. It portrayed them looking for everything they can do to pick and fact-check. And half the time the fact-checks are like, well, you kind of missed this big point here with your fact-check. And people get persuaded to feel like these people are bad, and if I want to be morally good, I have to be against them. But it's like, at what point do people— because it's very polarizing. I don't really know anyone that's like kind of in the middle. No, it's like, at what point do you choose a side? It's weird. It's like, I know a lot of people that are on the other side, but I don't know what caused them to be up. Like, nobody's really in the middle anymore. It's kind of a weird place to be.

Yeah, it's a weird time to be alive. I don't, you know, growing up, I I don't ever recall such a divide. I remember neighbors who were supportive of one candidate and supportive of another candidate, and they were neighbors, and they actually had the lawn sign, you know, growing up in New York, they had the lawn sign of the opposing candidates on their lawn, but they were hanging out in their lawn chairs in the driveway talking, chit-chatting, no problem. It just became this almost like sports. It was like, where like there's rivalries, right? And I, you know, I'm a fan of football. And to me, I just wanna watch a good game. I have teams that I follow, teams that I like, but I've moved around a lot, so I don't have a super loyalty to one team, but I like the game of football. And I always want a good, competitive, entertaining game. And I've never in my mind been able to wrap my head around hating another team because I live in a certain city.

Yeah.

So I can understand supporting my team. Yeah, that makes sense. But to hate another team, like what?

Like, I think the reason is because media has gotten so good at the formula and there's so much of it now. So like when you were growing up, you know, there was TV and the news and like social media came a bit later.

Yeah.

But it's like it's rapidly expanded into our lives at such a high clip that there's so much of it and they've gotten so good at feeding you things to brainwash you to where it actually changes your emotional connection to the ideas that you have on both sides. So now people are charged up and like one side thinks the other side's stupid and that side thinks the other side's bad. And it's like, and you just get fed it at a level it's never been before. But I don't think that it's going to get toned down anytime soon.

No, because there's too much money in it. Yeah, right. You always got to— it's— there's 3 things in the world that make the world go round, right? Money, sex, and power. That's been the thing for decades, centuries, right?

Forever.

So you always got to look at— if you see something happening and it just doesn't make sense, you got to realize that The grounding behind it is either money, sex, or power.

Yeah.

And with the media, it's money.

Mm.

If they're— the divide and the, the, the divide that they're creating generates, generates money.

Yeah.

Now, I don't know when it was. It was probably about 2 years ago now. I have one of the guys that works for 221B Tactical doing some content creation. Super liberal guy, you know, total like, you know, Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden, you know, supporter, and a great, great guy. And he's, you know, I've known him for a long time, friend. I looked at his phone one time because he was showing me a story that he said, oh yeah, this guy posted this thing on Instagram or Facebook or whatever. And I was like, Do you mind if I take a look at that?

Yeah.

And he's like, yeah. I was swiping through his Instagram feed.

Yeah.

And then I said, do you mind if I take a look at your Facebook feed?

Yeah.

And I looked at his Facebook. I said, do you mind if I look at your Twitter? I think it was X. It was just, or just before it turned to X, it was Twitter. And I looked at his Twitter feed. Everything was the exact opposite of the feed of someone on the other side, right? Because I have, you know, I try to like look at the world. It's a whole different world. Whole different stories.

Yeah.

The same exact event being reported in a completely different way. Like, I watched Trump's speech live and I always like to be in the know and that's why I watch it. I too, I don't watch the news anymore. I actually, I went from, which is bizarre. I went from watching CNN and Fox News almost at a 50/50 rate because I kinda wanted to see what are both sides saying, what are their concerns of both sides, and what are they presenting. And then, as a logical person that grew up in the middle outside of politics and knowing how the media works, I'm like, let me see how this works. It got overwhelming dealing with the BS. So I just, I don't watch any news anymore, and I just kind of separated like you were saying. I watched that speech that he gave. The first thing that popped out was when they were, the other side, the, let me say, the liberal side, the Democratic side. Yeah. When they refused to clap for a little boy dying of cancer.

Yeah.

That to me was something that I never thought I would see in this country ever.

Over politics.

Like, we can have disagreements over the border, we could have disagreements over Social Security, we could have disagreements over government spending, all that stuff. However, there are certain things that You gotta agree on that. You gotta, like, you're a human being. Are we no longer human? And that's what that felt like. That was inhuman to not celebrate a little boy dying of cancer that just got a, you know, wanted to be a police officer, you know, and he's wearing the little uniform, you know, and I was a police officer, you know, and I remember as a little kid wanting to be one. And I said, this is a new level. I don't care what side of the aisle you're on. If you don't see that as a disgusting act of just simply inhuman and unkind behavior, I don't know what kind of person you are, and I can't align with that. I can align with a lot of things.

Yeah.

Hey, you, you know, you're okay with illegal immigrants coming in, you feel like they need a place to go and they have opportunity here. Fine.

Yeah.

Okay. Yeah, fine, fine, fine. Let's agree to disagree or, you know, come up with Man, sick kid, a mother whose daughter was murdered. Yeah, you can't like put your hands together and like, yeah, I was, I was like, this is disgusting.

Both of those moments actually got me like choked up as I was watching it. I was like, I was like feeling like a tear coming down my eye. For someone not to be involved and, and, and be happy for that person in that moment is kind of crazy.

It was really—

I didn't even realize that though. I didn't even look and see that people weren't applauding.

The first thing I noticed. Yeah, it's the first thing I noticed. Yeah, it was really sad. And then the follow-up was I did, I went on X the next day and I looked at what was being said. And when I, my mom's in a facility right now, she's older. She just got diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. So I go see her every day. And it's funny because Every room has a news on, but everyone has different channels on, right? Some CNN, some Fox, some this, some that. And I was listening to how the different news outlets were reporting what happened, and I couldn't believe that certain conservative news outlets were not more upset that the liberal news outlets were essentially attacking President Trump for celebrating a little boy that was dying. They were saying he was exploiting that little boy's disease and using that little boy. But I've seen presidents address situations like that and, you know, celebrate people like that on both sides of the aisle. You know, we've seen Obama do it. We've seen Clinton do it. We saw—

he made the little boy's day his life. Life.

Yeah, right, right. Biden did it, you know, and no one ever said, "Oh, they're exploiting that person's situation or that person's story for some kind of political gain." It was never said, even when Bush did it. Yeah, no one said. But for some reason, when this guy does it, it was a problem. And to me, once again, as someone who's been discriminated against because the color of their skin for no reason at all, yeah, I see what's happening to— whether you like the guy or not, That's not right. He wasn't exploiting, he was making, like you said, he made that little boy's life.

Yeah.

He gave him his moment. Right, let's all celebrate it. You know, let's all like, you know, it's a good thing.

Yeah.

And who knows, that boy might only have a few months to live, you know?

And so what if it made him look good also?

Yeah, who cares?

It doesn't matter. Yeah. You gave the little boy the moment of his life.

Right.

Like, right, it's a good thing to do. No matter what.

Yeah, I just, I don't know, it's, um, But you know, that's the society we live in. It's almost like you, you have to gain some kind of clout by going against something that so many other people are for. I'll never forget a couple of months ago, I read a story. I don't know if you heard about this. MrBeast went to some country, I don't know where, and He paid for, I think, like eye surgery.

Yeah.

For a bunch of little children.

Yeah, I read about that.

Right?

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

And there were people who were saying he did it for like views or he did it for a video or he did— like, first of all, first of all, who cares? First of all, who cares? I don't care.

He should get views for that.

Right. It's a great thing. And you know what? It should motivate other people who have access and money to do the same thing.

That's exactly what it should do.

That's what it should do. That's the whole premise of it. And I know That's what Jimmy wants. He wants people to replicate what he's doing. He's been a good example. He's been an example.

He's using his platform for good. Right. But the problem is there's so many people that embrace this victim mentality.

Yes.

And they need something to be upset about because they're not happy with themselves.

Yes.

I think that comes from a lack of discipline. It comes from a lack of personal and self-worth. It comes from a lack of ever actually trying something and getting through to the other side. And it comes from, you know, at society as a whole. There's this kind of virus in society where the news, the media, they make it like life is just too hard, things are too expensive, that you can't do this, you can't go there, you can't— and people are just, all right, yeah, you're right, I can't do it. Now they're looking for something to be annoyed about. It's like, I think if people took radical accountability for their lives and actually, you know, put in the work and saw the other side, I don't think those— the same people would be talking about how MrBeast was exploiting people by giving them—

I mean, life-changing eye surgery, giving them vision.

Yeah, yeah. And not just them, right? Like, think about their families who had to, who had to support those people and who their lives were made worse because of the problem, which got fixed because of that. Like, the guy is using his platform for good. Those people should be shunned and shut down immediately and like exposed to society because there's nothing bad about doing that. So what if you get views? So what if you earn money because of the views? You're still doing something good. That's— that is society in a whole. The more value you add to society, the more money you make.

Yes.

But there is that inherent kind of victim mentality where it's like you don't want to see other people win because you haven't done the things for yourself yet. So you're looking for reasons why other people aren't as good as they are.

I think it's that, but I also think it's something else, and you touched on it. We used to live in a world where, like, the average person was the average person.

Yeah.

And celebrities were celebrities.

Mm-hmm.

The celebrities and the wealthy and the famous were the athletes and the actors.

Yeah.

And people who had— they were doing things on the large— on the big screen.

Yeah.

Right, if you would. That's who were the famous people. But there was a shift when social media came around, when the average everyday person who kind of feels like you and me—

Yeah.

Is now famous.

Yeah.

And has a lot of money and you're seeing them. So no one, I don't want to say no one, but people in general, and this is just my hypothesis and speaking to, you know, cause different, different things I've done along the way. I've gotten to speak to a lot of clinical psychologists and a lot of people, high-level thinkers along the years. And I noticed back then, if you were an average everyday person, you didn't feel bad because you were along with everyone else. And okay, you know, I'm not, you know, Michael Jordan.

Yeah.

I'm not Tom Cruise. Okay. But that, like, they're— that's them.

Right.

Right. But when now you fast forward and some 18-year-old girl who is just like you living in a town, like maybe like next door to you is a huge YouTuber with millions of followers, millions of views, making all this money, ad sponsors, whatever. Now it's kind of like, wow.

Yeah.

That's someone who's like kind of on my level.

Yeah.

And now they're that famous and they have that much money.

Yeah, you want to—

makes you feel bad. Yeah, it makes you feel bad. I didn't feel bad about being broke when I saw Michael Jordan being rich and famous, or Kobe being rich and famous, whatever. But I could feel bad when I saw another dude who was my age and kind of like, come, my background and my ability, all of a sudden killing it and now getting fame on social media and getting lots of money and sponsor— oh, and the people are sending him cars and people, and he's traveling. I'm like, Wait, who is this dude? Yeah, I could— what, what, you know? And then so, so it makes you kind of feel lesser about yourself, and you point insecurity. So what do you do if you don't have the ability to be that guy? You have to somehow stick out. You have to have something about you because that's insecurity, right? So what do you do? I'm gonna go and I'm gonna fly a flag of some country that I've never been in, that I don't even know where it is on the map, And I'm going to go protest waving this flag, waving an ISIS flag, for crying out loud.

Yeah.

And I'm going to be there yelling and screaming because I, I need significance. I need significance. Yeah, I need significance. Yeah, I need to be out there and people need to see me as, oh, oh, oh, she stands for that cause, right? She needs to be significant because look at all the other people around her she's seeing and they're significant. Kylee, this, that, you know, everyone is, oh, okay, well, let me— I need some kind of significance. Let me go and I'm going to post a photo on social media. I'm going to put a little flag on my social media around my, like, around my, my biopic, whatever. I'm going to do all this thing so people, when they do see me, I'm not just Joe or I'm not just, you know, Sarah. Yeah, I am. Oh, oh, look.

Oh, look, do you follow Tony Robbins at all? Have you heard any of his stuff?

A little bit. One of my business partners, I'm in commercial real estate and my partner in that business is a huge, huge Tony Robbins. He goes to the thing.

Yeah. Well, one of the things he talks about is like the 5 needs that we have. It's significance, certainty, uncertainty, love, and, um, contribution. Those are the 5 human needs.

Okay.

And what he says, and it makes a lot of sense, is And when the event starts, people write down the 5 needs and they, and they pick which one is like their top need. And it happens to be that the vast majority of the room, their top need is significance. By the end of the event, their top need is love or contribution. And if you're, if you're, if you're living a life that's based around having significance, you're going to have a really bad life. And I think what you just said is actually really real and really true. And I haven't thought about it that way, but people feel the need to have significance at a higher level than ever before because they see their peers in significant places, and it makes them feel insignificant. But what do you do about that? What do you actually do if you're in that position? What do you think the person who's feeling those types of ways towards their peers, or, you know, that— what do you do to combat that?

I think it has to go back to realizing that you're good enough. You don't, although we're in this culture where it seems like everyone on the planet's on social media, you know, if you're a guy between the ages of 25 and 45, it feels like every other dude out there is driving a Lambo, on a yacht, surrounded with bitches, or sorry, ladies, you know, and like, you know, it's like, and it almost brings you down, you know. And you're like, oh man, this guy has a six-pack and this guy has a Ferrari and this guy's here. Oh, this guy's in Abu Dhabi and, you know, eating great food. And it could almost be overwhelming.

Yeah.

Where you're like, man, I'm not— I'm just like Joe. I'm like, I got a job. I got a good job. I got a family. I got a good family.

Yeah.

I support them. I, you know, I, you know, I take care of my wife. I take care of my kids. I'm saving some money and I'm contributing to society in the way I can. I go to church and all that. But like, that should be— you're good enough. Like, you're good enough, bro. You're good enough.

And you can enjoy that life very much.

Yeah, like embrace that.

It doesn't have to be, "Well, but I'm not that." I'll tell you, I was that and now I'm not that. Now I'm the family guy, like very centered, not on social media, and it's a much, much, much better existence on this side.

Yeah, yeah, it feels better.

It's like most people never get that, like they're chasing it for their whole life and they never get a taste of it, so they think that's the pinnacle, that's the void that they need to fill.

It's— that's a great point, and let me add to that.

Yeah, please.

If most people had a taste of what it's like there, they would realize it doesn't taste that good. Exactly. Because, and I think that's one of the things, like everyone looks at that world and like, oh, I wish I had that. I need significance. I need to, like, if I'm there, I will feel significant.

Yeah.

I will have like some kind of like accomplishment or whatever. And then you get there. Cause I got there a while ago and you're there and you're like, what is this all for?

There's still a void.

There's still a void. Right. So. I talk about it in the community I had, where there's 13 domains of human concern. And if any of these 13 domains are left unfilled, you're gonna feel a void. So it doesn't matter how much money you have. It doesn't matter the cars you have. It doesn't matter, there's so many things that you think matter, but when you get those things and you still feel a void, the only answer is, oh, it must not matter. It must not matter. Now, You take a man that has boats and cars and women and all this stuff, and I've seen them lose it all, and they've been okay. They've been okay. They can still eat, they can still survive, and they get back into something, they get back on their feet, whatever, and they're okay. You take a man and you kill his wife and his children, that guy's done.

Done.

That guy is finished. Yeah. So that right there tells you What matters? What matters? Then you can tell a guy, hey listen, I'm gonna take everything from you, but you get to keep your wife and your children. You good?

All day.

All day long.

Take it away.

All day long. You gotta start, bro, you gotta start from scratch.

Yeah.

Be like, okay, but as long as they're there, okay great. But say the inverse to someone.

Yeah.

They're gone tomorrow, but we're gonna leave you with all the stuff, the toys, the bank account, whatever. You good?

Yeah. But the money gets generated by that content being flaunted because that's what gets the eyeballs. That's what gets the engagement. So that's what's brainwashing people. And this stuff doesn't really get talked about that much.

No.

It's not as glorious, but it's a long-term path for joy. Like discipline and spirituality and family and, you know, being centered and being consistent. Like that's what leads to a joyful, abundant life.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

It's not the fast wind and the, the, you know, it's certainly not the cars. The— and you could still, like, I still buy that stuff. It's fun. Yeah, it's cool. Yeah, it's like, it's— but that's all it is. It's fun and it's cool.

You got to make sure you don't put the— you don't put a significance on those things that are not grounded in reality. Those things are nice. Um, I just went through this crazy thing that like I had, like at one point I had like 7 cars. It was stupid. It was, it was, it was out of control. And, uh, in the last 30 days I went down to 1.

Way easier. You don't have to manage 7 cars.

Life is so much simpler. Yeah. It's so much simpler. And it just, just from the mental stress, you know, my accountant was like, well, you're going to be saving X amount a year. We're going to, we're going to reinvest that, whatever. And I wasn't even thinking about that. I just said, listen, I don't want to have to deal with 7 trips of the guy who washes my cars at my house that I got to fit into my schedule now. 7 oil changes that I got to go sit somewhere and like wait while the car gets serviced. It's just like 7 registrations coming in the mail, you know, 7 insurance cards you get. It was stupid. I feel so much better now.

Yeah. More free.

It's more, it's more freeing.

Yeah. Having less stuff is really more freeing. But when you don't have the stuff, you think you need the stuff.

Yes.

So it's a big conundrum that everyone goes through.

Yeah.

I've seen a lot of people go through it.

You know, I moved, we were talking, you know, earlier, I moved from the Northeast, uh, to the South and, um, I moved pretty quickly because it happened during COVID So, uh, long story short, everything where I was in New Jersey was shut down. I came down here to visit a buddy of mine and everything was wide open. I was like, what is going on here? I'm like, I'm, I'm, So I went back and I sold my house within a week.

Oh, wow.

And I got— of course, everyone was paying like top dollar, so I got like crazy amount of money for it. Um, but I had to move fast.

Yeah.

So when you have to move fast, you kind of only take what you can or take what you need, right? So when I came here, I came really light. Yeah, like, like bare bones. And over the last 3 years, I didn't build anything back. I kind of stayed bare bones. The only thing I had was the vehicles, right? Which I was like, I got to take them with me. Yeah, but now they're all gone.

Yeah.

So now in my home, in my world, in my garage, like everything is like bare bones.

Yeah.

And it feels so good. It feels like— and it also gives you— people don't realize that that stuff holds you down mentally, subconsciously.

Oh yeah.

You have to always feel— because we're, we're biological animals. You always have to feel like you can flee.

Yeah.

Fight or flight, right?

Yeah.

And the biggest thing that people— like, it's funny, I heard my friend's parents say this. They live in Brooklyn, and, uh, my friend was talking to his parents and I was there, and it's like, why don't you, you know, move to Florida? You know, the winters are getting bad, you guys are getting older, move to Boca, it's nice, whatever. And his mom's like, but we got so much stuff. Yeah, we got so much stuff. Yeah. Like, he's like, You know, don't take it with you. Yeah, but think about that.

I can't move too much stuff.

I got so much stuff. Yeah, right. So it's always there, it's always subconscious, and it doesn't hold any value. And it, it really came really to light for me. Um, I went to medical school and I have a lot of friends in the medical field, and Palm Beach is one of the most wealthy zip codes in the country. Yeah. When I talk to people who work in, in the ICU, is the— where the sickest of the sick are. There are people lying in the ICU at age 40, age 50, age 60, age 70, you name it, that are from Palm Beach and are worth tens of millions, some worth hundreds of millions. But when they're laying in that bed, all that stuff, their $40 million house on the island, yeah, their Bentley, their Rolls-Royce with the driver, none of it matters, right? None of it matters. If they can give all that up just so they could be healthy and get out of that ICU, feel good, and feel good and feel better, yeah, they would. And they say it, yeah, they say it. I mean, my friends that are there, they work there, they're like, listen, doc, Whatever it takes, whatever it takes. And they're like, the reality is when you live in a wealthy place and you have a lot of money, if you get sick and the homeless guy on the, on the corner panhandling gets sick and you roll through the doors at the hospital at the same time, no one looks at your bank account. Yeah, everyone's getting the same care, the same medicine. You have the same biology, right? The same physiology. Everything is the same.

Yeah.

So, and the doctors can't treat the rich guy better than, or give him different medicine than the poor guy or the homeless guy, right? Everyone's the same. It's the great equalizer.

Yeah.

So there's people in the ICU that are worth nickels, pennies, or negative. And then there's people in the ICU who are worth tens of millions of dollars.

Yeah.

But they're in the same boat. And in that moment, all the stuff doesn't matter in the moment. They both have the same hand.

Yeah.

What's it gonna do?

Yeah. I mean, I can understand why, like, enlightened people go off into the mountains with nothing.

Right?

Like, but you can understand it conceptually. You can also have experiences which make you understand at a much deeper level. I'm not, obviously not there. I'm not looking to move to the mountains and have nothing. Maybe one day when I'm in my 60s, 70s, I'm a, enlightened being, you know, I'm kidding. I don't think that'll ever happen, but I could understand, yeah, why people want less stuff. It's even— it's not even like, like, cars are an example. I've gotten rid of cars recently. Yeah, I'd have to move them every day. We had less driveway space. It's like annoying. And like, we just renovated our backyard, and I'm dealing with contractors, and I'm dealing with gardeners and landscapers and, you know, internet providers. And it's just like— and yeah, I have a lot of help and stuff, but Like oftentimes I'm pretty envious of my younger friends that have less stuff. They have a lot less money, but I'm like, you know, I would trade, trade with you for a little bit.

Mm-hmm.

There's like a lot less pressure. That pressure weighs on you. It's like the people are just chasing money and things. It's like that comes along with a lot more pressure and a lot less freedom.

Yes.

Yeah, that's something like, that's something real, you know.

Yo, I, I heard growing up from, and I forget where I heard it was, probably someone's parents or someone's grandparents. They said, when you look at someone's life, don't just look at the things that look good and look shiny and say, I want that. You gotta look at all of it and you gotta take all of it. Yeah, you gotta take all of it because it comes with everything. So there are people that have said, oh man, I wish I had your life. You know, friends I grew up with that are still like kind of on the way up and still struggling. They're like, bro, I wish I had your life. I said, bro, you have no idea. Yeah, maybe there's— maybe the dollar amount in our bank accounts are different.

Yeah.

However, there are people I know that although they have less money, their life is so much simpler, so much easier, so much less stress. And I'll admit a lot of the stuff that would cause me stress or whatever is a result of my own actions, like the cars and like the, you know, the, the big house and all that stuff. Right. No one needs a 10-bedroom house. No one needs a 10-bedroom unless you have like 12 kids.

Yeah.

Right. But we make these decisions and then we have to live with the consequences and the liabilities that come with these things. Right. Bigger house, bigger bills. There is always someone at my house doing something. Power washing, gardening. Landscaping, uh, window cleaning, uh, you name it, washing cars. Like, there's always—

we have an elevator in our house. We need the elevator service, right?

Like, it's crazy.

Yeah.

And so sometimes it's funny because I'm kind of envious of like my friends who like live in a townhouse.

Yeah.

I'm like, man, this is nice. I'm like, so it's like something goes wrong, like, what happens? Like, yeah, they just come fix it. I'm like, yeah, you don't have to call.

It's good to have the financial security and not have to worry about money because I think financial stress is like one of the worst stresses you can have. Yeah. But comes with a lot of other stuff. And I think it's like you, you go through it, you accumulate it, you accumulate a lot of stuff, you realize a lot of stuff brings you down, you probably get rid of a lot of stuff, but then you keep the financial security. That's probably the cycle that a lot of people go through.

Yeah.

Or you build great systems where you don't really need to do anything and it's all kind of managed for you.

That's the best.

But it also comes down to like, what do you want in life? Like, a lot of people don't know what they actually want their life to look like. They look, they see what other people's lives are like and they're like, oh, that looks nice. But they don't really know who they are or what they want to be like. I think that's, that's a big problem in our society. Yeah.

Hence that security.

Yeah.

You hit it right on the head. If you, when I meet people, uh, in different networking scenarios and I'm trying to get to know them, a question I always ask right out of the gate, and people are always like looking to answer the question of, well, what do you do for a living? Or, you know, whatever. And I always say, what's your passion? Yeah, I don't ask— I don't care what you do for a living, I don't care what your 9-to-5 is, whatever. What's your— I don't know you, so what's your passion? Yeah, you can learn a lot from asking that one question. I don't care if you're a single guy, I love trying to meet a girl and talk to a girl, or if you're a business person, an entrepreneur, and you're in a room networking and you want to try to talk to someone who's maybe worth like God knows how much. You ask that question and just shut up.

Yeah.

And you would be blown away. What's even more surprising is how often I ask that question and people are like, huh, I don't know. That's a great question. No one's ever asked me that question. Yeah, I really don't know. I'm like, what are you passionate about in life? You're here on Earth for such like a small amount of time.

Yeah.

What are you passionate about?

Yeah.

And so many people can't answer it. It's so mind-blowing that you're living every day and you're just kind of going— you're on autopilot. You're going through the motions and you're not even, you're not even connected to what you're doing or why you're doing it. Right. You're like, I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. That's a great question. I don't know. I'm going to have to get back to you on that. Can you imagine being 30 or 40 years old or older and someone says, what are you passionate about in life? What's your passion? And saying, I've been on this planet for 40 years and I don't know. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, that's, that's like sad.

Yeah, it's actually really good advice though, what you just said. Like, you know, especially for like the people trying to come up in the world and trying to get out there and network with people. Like, I'm the same way. When I meet someone, I'm not asking them what they do for work. Like, you know, if it comes up naturally, sure, but it's not the first thing because it's like When you ask someone, "What do you do?" you're almost saying like, "What can I get out of you? What can you give to me?" As opposed to, "I want to understand you as a human being and see if we have a relationship," because business comes after that. Any of the business relationships I've made have come from a really deep friendship first, and those are the ones that have turned into real businesses. The ones where it's all transactional, they never work out anyway because it's a game of who can get more, and that never works. So like the young guys out there, like trying to go out and meet people, like that's a really good piece of advice you just gave. Ask people different questions. What are you passionate about? I love that. It was a really good piece of advice.

Yeah, it's just, it's a different, it's a different, it's a different approach, but there's a different meaning behind it, and it gets you a much different result.

Yeah.

For my company, when we have our weekly team meetings and everyone's like, oh God, it's the this is like the, the 221B Tactical thing. Um, I start off by asking each person what was the best part of their week. And now people know and expect it. Yeah, because it's very easy, as you know, to go into an end-of-week meeting and immediately get into all the shit that's going wrong. Yeah, it's so easy.

Yeah.

This is down, this metric is down, these analytics are down. This is—

Yeah, that changes the energy in the whole room.

Right, right, right. And it's like, it turns into a problem dump.

Yeah.

And then, okay. And I noticed that's how the meetings were going. It was, okay, so what's going on? And everyone just chirps in about the shit that's going wrong and they dump it.

Yeah.

And then we spend the next 2 hours, okay, how do we fix it? What's going on? So I switched it up and I said, okay, we're gonna start out with the win for the week.

Yeah.

And I want a personal win. And then I also want a win for your responsibility here at 221B.

That's great.

So what's your personal win for the week? And like, literally the other day someone was like, um, my son, my son won his baseball game and I had to like help coach it or something. I was like, what? Yeah. I, I, and I don't play baseball, but I had, I helped coach and we won my, we won. And like, you know, my son looked at me like, amazing. Yeah. I was like, So that felt good. He's like, yeah, because like, I'm not the baseball coach. I had to step in or something. And I'm like, okay, that's a great win. Yeah, that's a great win. And it like set the mood. And then like the next person went, okay, all right, now win for what your division is. Okay, well, we created this reel and it got 30,000 views, so we're trying to figure out like how to fine tune it. Like what happened? What was that? Because that's like very uncommon. So, okay, what happened? What was the thing that made the difference? Okay, great. Okay, awesome. Good job, man. Okay, next. And then after all of that is done, we go into, okay, what do we need? What needs to happen?

Right.

And then the mood in which the problem comes out with is a different energy.

Yeah.

And it's almost like what I hear is, well, this is going on, but I was thinking—

Yeah, exactly. You're already—

this is happening. But you know what? I'm thinking that they're already— they're already in a mood of it's something going on, but I think I could solve it. I already got the solution.

Like you're, you know, your own personal routine in the morning to get yourself in a good state of mind. You do that at a company level. Yes, that's the beginning of the meeting. Yeah, you need to get realigned a lot in life. You need to realign with the things that you know on a regular basis, or you get sucked into the rat race, you get sucked into the patterns. And that could happen at an organizational level too. That's pretty interesting that you do that.

You have to, you have to. And it, it creates a better culture. And I also do it at home. Yeah, at home I make it a point when I wake up in the morning I have to give thanks for 3 things.

Yeah.

What am I thankful for? And I'll be, I'll be honest, one of the things I'm thankful for every morning is waking up. Because when you're in the medical field, you realize how many people don't wake up.

Yeah.

Like, like how many people didn't wake up this morning?

Another day, right?

They didn't have another. So that's one thing I'm always thankful for.

Real quick, that's a whole different perspective. I have another day versus, ah, I gotta go into another day. Like just switching that first thing is like, that's huge to life.

Huge. It's so big.

Changes the flavor of your existence.

100%. And in your energy, when you put that out, more of it's going to come back to you. 100%, right? So if you wake up in the mood of, ah, I got to do this today, I got to do this today, I got to do this today, your energy— that's what you're putting out, and you're going to get more low energy back or negative energy back. I woke up this morning and I knew I was going to have 3 contractors at my house within a couple hours. It was going to be a mess. It was going to be like, they're all— their trucks were going to be parked down the road. I knew that I had to come here for this. I knew I had to do something else. I knew I had to go to the gym, whatever. And it was all this stuff was going on. And I said to myself, one, thankful that I woke up. Two, I gave thanks. Instead of thinking about everyone, I'm like, man, how blessed am I that I have these 3 great contractors that are highly skilled and I can afford to pay all of them. Yeah, no problem. Like the the bill they're going to give me to do that phenomenal work. I'm blessed I have the money to pay them. How lucky am I? And then I said, you know what? Instead of thinking about, I got to go to the gym. You know what? I have, I have a friend that's in a wheelchair paralyzed from the neck down. He can't even go to the gym if he wanted to. So you know what? How lucky am I? I get to go to the gym and like move some weight around, take care of my body. I'm like, man, this is awesome. So I started out the day. Boom, boom, boom. Yeah.

I do the same thing. I have like a 5-minute journal. It's the things you're grateful for, what would make today great, and just start out first thing in the morning doing that. It's like, it's a very great experience because it's so easy to get, you wake up, you check your phone, you look at the news, you're just, you're boom, right back in the same thought patterns as the day before. Now you're stressed, now you're angry, now you're going to the day like that, and you're going to create more of that energy in your life through feeling that way. Actually, funny story that we're kind of talking about this now. I found a personal trainer here in Florida. I just moved here about a year ago. I've been looking for a good trainer and I booked an appointment for tomorrow. And I get a message from the guy yesterday saying something along the lines of, we've reviewed your online persona and content and don't align with the things you're talking about, so we can't train you.

What?

And I was like, it really threw me off. My energy was like, What the hell? What is he talking about? Like, I'm a very agnostic person. Like, I'm not— very rare to have political conversations. I'm only bringing on cool people. We're having good conversations. And I'm like, okay, like, that's very strange. Can you give me a bit more context at least? So I get on a call with him and he's like, he's like, yeah, you know, I was looking at some of your YouTube clips and your, your, your podcast, and I see you talk about manifestation and like, That's not what we do here. Like, we want our clients to actually do the work. And I'm like, I'm like, really? Like, you're going to— you're going to— first of all, you don't even know me. We haven't even had a conversation. You're going to deny me as a client because we talked about manifestation on my podcast? You haven't even listened to the podcast because then he's like, oh, well, who do you have on your pod? Like, you don't even listen to it. You're going to deny me as a client?

Wow.

I'm like, first of all, Okay. Yes, I do believe that your energy creates the life around you. I've built a $100 million company in this process of learning these things. I've got to interact with a tremendous amount of really successful people and learn that most of them also have very similar views on life. Like, you as a trainer are gonna deny me as a client because we're talking about other ways to exist in the world? It's fucking crazy. This just happened yesterday.

What a blessing though.

But at first it hurt. Yeah, yeah, it was like a hit to your character.

Yeah, you know, yeah, because you're like, there's— of course a logical person says there's nothing wrong. I could— not that it would be right, but I could understand if you said, hey, I looked at your content and I see that you are anti-police, or you're anti-LGBTQ, or so whatever, and I don't align with that. Sure. Okay, fine.

Sure, we have different views.

Got it, got it, totally get it. And it would be a little weird, right? Whatever, got it. But you believe in energy and the universe and manifestation and positive thinking is the way to like grow and have a positive life. And that's what I— did you say thank you to that guy? I would have been like, hey, thank you so much. Thank you, thank you. Like, one of the things that I changed a few years ago was instead of getting pissed off in situations like that, I gave thanks because that's something you don't want in your world anyway. Yeah, you don't want that kind of thinking, you don't want that kind of mood, you don't kind of want that energy. And the old Suresh would have been like, what, this fucking guy's just like— and I would— and then what I would do, and I would carry that negative energy. Yeah, I'd get on the phone, I'd be like, Andrew, you— can you believe— yeah, let me tell you this. Yesterday, let me tell you what happened. Yeah, this freaking guy. Yeah, like, and then I call my other boy Yo, you know that trainer, right? Yeah, whatever. And then I'd be out to dinner tomorrow night and be like, you know, I was going to start working out. Let me tell you what happened. It's just negative cascading.

Yeah.

So I'm just like, I just learned a couple of years ago and I got this from a book I read about like energy and whatever. It was like, just give thanks. Yeah.

Give thanks that you got, got that upfront, got that upfront, the rest of it.

Right. And then you're like, oh man, thanks bro. And then you just never speak about it again and you just, you just move on. You're like, oh man, what a blessing that was that that guy was so dumb. He just said that out front.

Yeah.

You know, that's someone you don't want to affiliate with. You want to run away from that person.

Yeah. It was through a text message and it was like, because we had an appointment, he's like, we decided we cannot train you. And I was like, whoa, really? Like, we don't even know me.

That's wild.

It was wild.

That is wild.

But over and over again, I connect with incredible people that have accomplished many different things, not just financially, physically, you know, they've been through different education, they've been around incredible people. And almost everyone from, you know, people like yourself to, you know, we had a Formula One, Indy 500 champion on here, CEO of 7-Eleven and Blockbuster, like really cool people are all aligned that the way you feel and your energy changes the life around you. Whether you want to call that manifestation whether you wanna call it the way of being. I mean, my whole philosophy is it's not about what you do, it's about who you are. And it's like, if you can be the person you need to be, subconsciously you'll be guided to do the things you need to do. But so many people are, you know, counterintuitive. They're trying to figure out the tactics and the tools, but they haven't actually worked on themselves yet, which is why they keep hitting roadblocks. But everyone seems to agree on that. And it was just crazy that someone was so against that. That they would deny a client for it. It was like, it was, it was mind-blowing.

That's someone that, you know, I always say, I would say a prayer for that guy and say, because I don't think he's going to be in business very long. Um, just, just what you're telling me. Yeah, you can't—

that—

I don't know one successful business person that operates like that. Yeah, at all. And that's, that's not my opinion. I literally don't know one successful business person that would operate with that kind of like low-level mindset. Um, so I would say a prayer for that person. Yes, I would give thanks, you know, that I was able to get that early and not deal with that. Um, you have to realize that there are people who move like that all around you though. Yeah, he just showed his—

showed his cards.

He showed his cards. Yeah, but there's a lot of people around us every day that are the same, feel the same, have that same mindset. And what I've gotten really good at is noticing the signs.

Mm-hmm.

And I tell people all the time, the one of the best things you can do is getting good at knowing who's around you. When you're a police officer, you have to get really good at figuring out who's lying to you because throughout the course of your day, through a 12-hour shift, most of the people that you encounter are going to lie to you. Yeah, 100%. Like, it was— it's from right from Jump Street, right out of roll call. First call: shoplifter at the 7-Eleven. Yeah, go in. Manager, here's him on video stealing the thing. Yeah, okay. Or shoplifter at Target. Okay, this is the video surveillance. Okay, so you go into the room, the guy's sitting there, and this is actually, you know, when they used to actually lock up criminals for shoplifting. And say, okay, so, uh, hey, what's going on here? I don't know what's going on. They just brought me into this room. Did you, did you, did you steal something? Did you take it? No, I wasn't stealing anything. I didn't see— I don't know what they're talking about. Lying right to your face, right? Everything's on camera in the patrol car. You see someone go right through a stop sign, not stop, and you're like, okay, pull them over. Hey, how you doing? What's going on, officer? I just kind of rolled through that stop sign over there. No big deal. I just want to see your license. No, I didn't. I stopped. And you're like, ma'am, what? I stopped. I know, I know I stopped. And I would say, one, no, I watched you. But two, it's also on video. Yeah. Like, and they'd be like, oh, oh, oh, it is? It's on video. Like, what do you think this is? What do you think, we're just making shit up out here? Like everyone— and this is like a soccer mom. Yeah, right. So when you deal with a profession for 12 hours a day, everyone's just lying to you.

Yeah.

I wasn't speeding. That's not my cocaine in my pocket. It's my friend's pants. But yeah, literally I've had someone say, that's not my cocaine. I borrowed my boy's pants. Right. So you're like, it's kind of the only excuse you can come up with. Right. So, right.

Right.

Exactly. And so you go through this and you realize, man, you're surrounded by these people. So you get really good at noticing. And I tell people one of the keys to success that you, if you're going to do anything, one positive mindset, right? Be the person today that you want to, you dream of being tomorrow, right? Become that person today. Sleep like that person, eat like that person, train like that person, read books, whatever, network, be that person today. And guess what? The universe will turn you into that down the road. But the other thing is, get really good at noticing the people that you don't need around you, because that is the one thing that pulls so many people down and holds so many people down.

Yeah.

Notice the people that— and, you know, some people are like, well, how do you— how do you do that? You got good at it being a cop.

Yeah.

You know, I worked in a hospital for a long time after medical school, so it takes time. To get really good because it's not, it's not overt, right? Like this guy, you said your trainer guy. Yeah, it's not overt. It's sometimes you got to get really like— I always tell people it's not like you're in a pool.

Yeah.

And you're trying to figure out the people who can swim and the people who can't swim. The people who can't swim are drowning and you're going to like see that like really, really good, right? You're going to notice that really well. But in the world in general, you can't really tell who are the, who are the, who are the energy vampires?

Yeah.

Who are the low-level thinkers? Who are the people that are going to really bring bring you down, hold you down, not lift you up and not align with you and not bring your energy up.

Right.

And if you can get really good at that and I tell people when you notice someone that is not in alignment, don't walk away, don't back up away, run away like you got to run fast from those people.

Yeah.

Because you, you literally don't even want to be in their vicinity.

Yeah.

Because energy travels, right? So you don't want to be in their vicinity. I don't allow those people at headquarters at 221B Tactical. Yeah. If I find someone who their energy isn't right, I don't want them in the building, right? Because they might be in an office next to Joe, and Joe is super high energy and super positive, whatever. But if he's sitting next to him, no, getting sucked away. No, exactly. Nope. No, sorry, you got to go.

Yeah.

And so you, you learn that in life and it will change your life. You learn to surround yourself. And the same goes for the opposite. If you see someone which I kinda felt it, right? I gotta tell you, I felt it when he walked me up.

I was like, this guy has good energy. Yeah, this guy. You know, it's funny, we had a little situation downstairs.

Oh yeah?

Yeah, there's this woman who was low energy, negative energy, negative mood, complaining about parking and all this stuff, right? Just losing her mind. And he came out, was like, huh, oh yeah, okay, hey. How are you, Suresh? You got a parking spot? I said, I got a parking spot. He's like, let's check it out. Yeah, you're good. Let's go upstairs. Like, I was like, that's that. He's one of my people. I like that. That's the kind of energy I want. And as soon as I met you, that was like, you could just feel, you just get good at it.

You get, yeah.

So it's also good to get good at knowing the good ones and say, you know what, I need to spend a little bit more time with this person. I want to spend more time with people like this. And what it's all about, that's what it— and you get good at it.

Yeah.

And you get good at it. And then you say to yourself, and then you start getting— then it turns into a game. And for me, it got uncomfortable because there were people who were in my life for a long time that I slowly had to like move away from.

Right. Yeah.

And then you start pushing towards them. And some, like, I had some friends that were like, you're hanging out with that guy all the time. You just met that guy like, like a year or two ago.

Yeah.

You've known me since we were 7, bro.

Right.

And I'm like, yeah, I know, I know. And I still love you.

Yeah.

I still love you. I still care about you.

Yeah.

But you're always doomsday.

Yeah.

Right.

Yeah.

Nothing's ever enough. Never enough money. Never, whatever. And this guy's always like abundant.

Yeah.

There's man, there's so much money in the world. Let's just go get like a little morsel of it and we'll be billionaires.

Yeah. Yeah.

Right.

Yeah.

That's like, like, that's what there's money all around us. Right. We can go out into the parking lot right now. And with you and I, the way we think. If someone said, listen, you guys have 2 hours to make $500 in this parking lot right now, figure it out. We'd figure it out. We'd figure it out. The low-level thinkers are like, $500 in 2 hours in this parking lot? We're in the middle. How could we possibly do that? Yeah, you, I, him, him. We'd all be like, okay, let's put— let's get a plan together. What are we going to do?

Easy.

We're going to get $5 grand. Let's get $5 grand. Let's blow this thing out.

I love it. I love it. I love this topic. Another topic that this trainer probably would hate also is like At the end of the day, we are just energy, right? Like, if you zoom in on, on us, what do you get? You get cells and you get atoms. What are atoms? They're 99.999999% empty space, and then there's electrons, protons, and neutrons. It's electricity. Everything in this world is just energy.

This table is energy.

So to deny that you— the way you feel and your frequency and your vibration affects your life is to deny that we're just energy, and we are just just simply that. Yeah, that's all we really are. Like, physics and science will tell you that that is all we actually are.

100%. Did you ever see the, the, uh, the, the water test? Yeah, I have, where they like, they had someone like talk lovingly and sing to water, and they showed you how the energy in the water changed. And then they had someone scream and yell at the—

freeze it and show you the crystals, incoherent versus like coherence. Yeah.

Like unbelievable. Like that's science. You can't deny that.

It's so real. I mean, like, I, and this is not to brag about my life at all, but my life is a, you know, it's an outcome of doing this exact work. Like getting up in the morning, feeling a beautiful state, getting out, getting, you know, thinking about things I'm grateful for and then letting go. And like things have unfolded in a fantastic way. You know, I used to learn this stuff early on and my brain was like, yeah, yeah, whatever. I'm still gonna like, I grind my way to— and I would have this incoherent energy. I'd be so attached to outcomes, be so stressed all the time. I'd have glimpses of those good moments and life would kind of, you know, it would be pretty good. But once I learned to, like, let go and not care that much and only really focus on the energy, I realized my subconscious would guide me to make the right decisions anyway. Life has amplified very rapidly, like kind of exponentially in every area. And it's like, those are the things that I like to talk about on this show. Because they're real. And if someone is so against that, that like at that level, like, yeah, why would I want that person in my life? So thank you.

Yeah, no, you know, you're welcome. I, you know, and it's, it's to me, you have to, and you made, you made a great point on like just how you shifted. And, but one thing, and I was guilty of this too, and I just caught that you said it, those things used to happen and I used to almost think they were like, I don't know, like I got lucky or just like coincidence.

Yeah.

Right. Like, oh, you know, but when you start realizing that, no, it's, it's intentional, your mood and your energy created that. And it's not like, oh, I can't. Oh, that's kind of cool that that happened to me. It's kind of weird that that guy called me out of nowhere and gave me that contract. Like you just kind of, you think it's total coincidence, but then when you shift your mindset and you start believing that it's not coincidence. It's how I am being that is bringing that into my world. You start— it's almost like superpower. You're like, wait a second, I am going to create, manifest, right? I'm gonna create this world and these things are just gonna come to me.

Yeah, I have a crazy story that someone who hates this stuff would hate it very, very much, but it's 100% true. And it was the first thing that really blew my mind. It was— I was living in Los Angeles, mid-20s, like started a business but wasn't like, you know, it was a cycle. Like I was reinvesting all the money, like I was paying for the bills, but I wasn't like by any means financially abundant. And my friend who was an NFL player was like a mentor to me. I met him when I was in LA. He invited me to a Tony Robbins event and we were, we, my, my, now my wife, my girlfriend and I at the time, we were moving to Florida from LA like right after the event. And so at the event we did this exercise where you you know, you're basically walking up to your future life. You're kind of like meditating, but you're walking up to your future life, but as someone else that just loves and cares about you, so you don't have your own biases. You're not like judging it. And, you know, you do this for like 20 minutes and you're really embracing this future life. And then at the end of it, you walk and you look in the mirror and it was you the whole time. And it was like this crazy energetic shift I had. I was like, wow, I just like had an emotional attachment to my future life. And one of the things I saw was like a car in the driveway and it was a gray Lamborghini. And it was just whatever. Went on with life, drove from LA to Florida. During that drive, my— I had just started an e-commerce store, first time, like, dropshipping. I was doing maybe like $1,000 a day in revenue. In the 5-day drive, I scaled from $1,000 a day to $50,000 a day. Literally, like, to the moon. And like, the whole time, I'm like, this is too good to be true. Thank you, God. Whatever. Like, don't tell anyone. Hey, look at this. Don't tell anyone. Like, this is too good to be true. And then about 2 months later, I had to drop my wife off to do someone's hair. She was a hairstylist. And I was like, do I drive home? What do I do? And I like went to this car dealership for fun. I ended up buying this gray Lamborghini, but I didn't realize it was the same one at the time. And I'm like, I'm like, I just bought it. I'm like, oh, this is so cool. I'm driving this car, whatever. I'm young, like just made money. It was fun. And like 2 weeks later, I had the realization that that was the exact same car that was in the vision just 2 months earlier. When I had no means of buying it. So that was my first encounter with when you could put an emotional attachment behind a vision and you can linger in it and you can feel it. The universe will set up ways to get you there.

And denying that is just denying the truth. Like, that's how I feel at this stage in life, and I'm 100% behind it.

Yeah, it's how it works. You always have to see— you had a, you had like a mental picture.

Yes, I was there.

Yeah, and science is science, right? And so he put forth studies, and you probably know this one. They had people who they said, all right, you're gonna— same group of people, same men, whatever, and women— you guys are gonna go lift these weights for X amount of minutes a day for X amount of weeks. You guys are gonna come and sit in a room and think about—

the trainer would hate this conversation.

Yeah, I hate this conversation. And you're gonna think about lifting the weights, right? So they measured everyone's strength in the beginning, and then however many weeks later, they came back in and they measured everyone's strength again. And the people who came and just thought about lifting the weight had the same increase in strength as the people who actually lifted the weight. Yeah, same goes for piano. They had people come in and take piano lessons, and they had people come in and just think about playing the piano, learning how to play the piano, and listening to piano. At the end of a whatever, you know, 60 days or whatever, the people who thought about learning to play the piano and listened to piano were just as able— had the same ability as the people who actually took piano lessons. So what does that tell you? The brain does not know the difference between a thought or reality. So that's why.

And it changes your biochemistry.

Yes.

That's why when you think of biting on a slice of lemon, your mouth waters just the same as it would if you actually bit that. Because what happens when you bite a lemon, it sends a signal to your brain, which sends a signal down to your salivary glands to produce saliva. Right.

You can still send that same signal without the lemon, and you could still send that same signal about how good it feels to have something.

Yeah.

Before you actually have it. So I tell, I tell some of the guys I talk to all the time, I said, if you want something, the first thing you have to do and the most important thing, possibly the most important thing you have to do, is you have to find the mood of what it would feel like to have it. Yeah, whatever it takes, find out what that mood is to have it. And then once you get into that mood and that feeling, sit in it and hold it for at least 5 to 10 minutes every single day.

Yeah, I don't— I Can I give you a tool that you can share with these guys? So I wrote a book about this. It's called The Perfect Walk.

I'll share like a 30-page PDF with you that you can share with people if they're interested.

Okay.

But that's exactly what it is. It's for people who can't find the mood to find it. And what it is, is it's a— and I talk about on the podcast all the time, so sorry if I'm boring people who listen to this. It's a 5-part walk and it goes along with 5 songs and it's about 25 minutes long. And you're basically, you get out in the morning, First song comes on, you walk, you feel grateful, you think about things you love, you open your heart, you just feel grateful for life. Second part, music changes, you feel strong and powerful, you know, 20 feet tall, you can blast through a wall, problems are like little flies. Third part is just completely letting go and being in a moment of just total presence. Fourth part is feeling connected with a higher power, whether whatever you believe in, you know, you let your attention, your awareness expand outward. And the last part is a celebration, and you celebrate something that you want to happen as if it already did, and you're walking as if that thing— kind of like Joe Dispenza. Like, part of this stuff was from him, part was from Tony Robbins, part was from Plant Medicine Journeys, but it's all in this 25-minute practice. And if you don't feel incredible after this walk, like, there's nothing. Like, this is like the easiest way to change your state and get yourself into that state where you can celebrate a win before it happens. I do that every day. It's like my number one go-to. And I didn't come— like, I did come up with it, but not like intentionally. It was just a combination of all these other things, and I'd be out walking and I'd be thinking, and it just became a formula. And like, I've shared it with some friends and it's been very helpful for them.

So I need—

if you have any guys or, you know, something that you want to help people kind of get into that state, it's a— it's just a— it's a framework. You're doing it, right? As opposed to, hey, go try to figure out how to do it. It's like do this and then tell me how you feel after.

Yeah. Yeah. No, I forget the guys I'm helping. I need that. Yeah, I'll send you. I'll send you. I need that. I love— I mean, I do something similar. I try to take a 30-minute walk every morning and I just try to just listen to something uplifting.

Yeah.

Just listen to something powerful, some— a story of transformation or something just to like get my mood up and get going for the day. And I try to get my sunlight. A lot of times I go barefoot just to do grounding. When you are thinking about those things, it's important sometimes to give yourself a little taste. And this is something I share with some of the guys. When I was younger, I had this thing, I wanted a BMW 7 Series. Yeah, right. And I was, you know, I was kind of young, grinding, whatever. And if I was driving like not a nice car, like whatever. And one of the things I did that completely changed my life, well, in that moment, was I went to a dealership. I went to a BMW dealership. Yeah, like, look, I didn't have two nickels. I could— I couldn't even put gas in the tank of this car. Yeah, but I went and like I put on a nice button-down shirt. Yeah, I ironed my khakis and I walked in. I'm like, hi, how are you? Yeah, um, I'd like to take a look at this vehicle here, because they had one, right? It was like a pre-owned one, it was like 2 years old.

Yeah.

And the guy was very nice, he's like, okay, yeah, have you been looking? I said, yeah. And it's— man, I'd been like dreaming about this car. Yeah, BMW 7 Series. First time I saw one, I was like, man, that's beautiful. So I decided I'm gonna go to the dealer, and I said, I'd like to take it for a test drive. And he said, sure, okay. I couldn't believe he said yes. I'm like, I'm broke. And so he Pulled it out and he pulled up and he got out. He said, go ahead, I'm just going to put a plate on the back, we'll go out for a spin. We went out in that car and the second I sat in that car, the smell of the leather, the feel of the steering wheel. I remember it was like a little chilly out and so I turned on the heated steering wheel, right? I was like, and that was like a big, like when I grew up, heated steering wheel. Yeah, this was like, this was like, that was like high technology for me. I'm like, oh, has heated steering wheel. And I drove that car and the entire time I just like sucked in the emotion and the feeling of actually— because I thought about driving the car, but I'd never driven the car.

Yeah.

So I didn't really know. I just kind of imagined how it would be, right? So when I got in that car and I started driving, I was like, holy crap, this thing is so smooth. Oh my God, the blinker feels so good. The steering wheel. I'm like, oh, so we just did a little short test drive. It was like, whatever, fine. It was on Long Island, I think, too.

Oh yeah, yeah.

And so I got back to the dealership. I said, yeah, this is great. I said, I'm looking at a couple others, but I really like this one. I'm gonna consider it. He's like, oh, here's my card, you know, let me know if I can help you out. I went home that day. I remember I told my girlfriend at the time, I said— she's like, well, what'd you do today? I said, I went and test drove the 7— it was like a 745 BMW. And she's like, what?

Why?

I said, 'Cause I wanted to feel what it's like to drive that car. She's like, um, like, you can't afford that car. Like, you couldn't even afford the insurance. I said, I know, I know. Yet, yet, from that day on, every time I thought about what it would be like to have that car, I had something connected to it.

A reference point.

I had that reference point of what it was actually like to Let me tell you, I had gone like 2 years before I actually decided to go to that dealership, right? 6 months later, BMW 745 was in my garage. Yeah, my business shot up. I got a couple of big contracts. I got a couple. And it was like— and 6 months later. So I went 2 years thinking about it, which is good, but having that, that connection to it accelerated everything because the mind doesn't know. And as long as you connect to it, it's going to— once I had that emotion and that mood and that energy, the universe had to drop that car into my garage because I was living as if I had already had it.

It was just a matter of time.

It was just a matter of time. And that was it. And everyone was like, bro, how are you affording that car? And I'm like, I was able to buy— I bought it cash. I bought it, which I would never do today. But lease it through your LLC. But I bought it cash. And people were like, what? I'm like, that's how powerful it is. I mean, it is like that power. And there's someone I listen to, her name is Abraham Hicks, and she always says, she's like, your mind is so powerful, but the, the— what your mind needs to do is the same thing of whether you want to create a button or a bottle of water on a table, or you want to create a Lamborghini. Yeah, a gray Lamborghini. It's, it's all the same process. It's not like, oh, oh, I could probably manifest the, the, the quarter on this table a little bit easier than the gray Lamborghini. No, actually, it's the same process, right? So whatever it is you want to put your mind and your intention to, where your, where your thoughts and energy goes, that's what happens.

Yeah.

And it's almost like a hack for life that people just don't get.

Well, a lot of people have such strong limiting beliefs that they can't get past. But I think you can get past limiting beliefs by having discipline and keeping promises to yourself and starting to change your confidence, which allows you to actually have those thoughts that you can linger in without yourself getting in the way of it. I think that's where discipline comes into play.

Yeah, yeah. And the belief. You got to believe when it happens. You can't remember— I going back to what I said, when it happens, you almost have— because it's so funny, I see like a few years ago when like the gas prices were out of control, I go get gas for one of the 7 cars and there was this sticker on the gas pump with Biden pointing to the thing. It says, I did that.

Right.

So I tell people when you're on that journey and something that something good happens, put a sticker on it and say, I did that.

Yeah.

That didn't happen by accident. All my time thinking, thinking, thinking, energy manifesting. I did that.

Yeah, you created it.

Don't be like, oh, I got lucky.

We're much more powerful than we give ourselves credit for, and society keeps us down, and that's like what we need to break free of.

Yeah, and even listen, the government agencies even know it. Not to— not to go down that road, but that's for another podcast. That's for another podcast. But back in the '80s, uh, no, I'm sorry, late '70s, early '80s, the CIA did a full, full report. Exactly, we just talked about this in the last show on how mind control works. Yeah, and like —like, their ultimate find— it's published, people can look it up. Their ultimate finding was it's real.

I read the whole thing, and last episode I actually had an ex-CIA agent on. Oh, you did? Yeah. Oh, okay. She didn't know about this, surprisingly. Yeah. But I know exactly what you're talking about.

Yeah, I read it. I'm like, oh, so they— the CIA confirmed, okay, that's real. You could, like, you can pretty much manifest and bring things to life with your mind. And they're like, the mind is the most powerful thing. And guess what? Going back to what we were talking about earlier, if you control people's thoughts and minds through media and through, you know, propaganda, whatever, you can control people like all day long, right? Not to go— I'm not trying to be conspiracy. I want to keep this positive, but it truly is. Your mind is like the most powerful thing you have.

You know, we got these interesting blue lights in our devices and then the vaccines together might really— Yeah, right. It's a rabbit hole.

So, oh my God, we'll be here till dinner. We have to get food brought in. But so like, that's the power of that, right? So I tell people, like, when you're on your journey, make sure you say, "I did that." Put a sticker on it.

I did that. I love that, that's great. Like, I did that. I didn't just get lucky. Yeah, I didn't get lucky.

I created that. Exactly, I didn't get lucky, I made that happen, you know? So as you go along, like when I started 221B Tactical, I was in my garage. I didn't even have heat. I was in Jersey in a garage that was just cement, and I had no heat, so I was freezing trying to learn how to sew on a sewing machine with like some 7-year-old girl YouTube watching. She was like literally like 7 teaching people how to sew on YouTube. She's probably a billionaire right now from her channel that has a zillion views. And there I was, grown-ass man, watching her video, hitting pause. How do I feed the rope— the, the rope— the thread through the thing? And like, right? And then Play, pause, play until I learned how to sew from that video. And that's how I made the first product for 221B Tactical that no one knew about. Yeah. No one knew about those days. Like my fingers were going numb because it was so cold in that damn garage. And I didn't know how to do edging or binding. So I used duct tape because I was like, I don't know how to sew edging. I just know how to sew the, whatever the seam. So I'm going to use duct tape. I did all that, but I did all that knowing it was going to be a worldwide global company and this product and this company was going to make me a millionaire. Yeah, I just knew. Yeah, I just knew when I was broke in the garage learning how to sew from a 7-year-old on YouTube. In my mind, I'm like, this— I'm gonna be a millionaire. This company is gonna—

but a big key to that is like when things come up that are adverse to what you believe they're supposed to be, like learning how to not be attached to those things. Because there's a tremendous amount, infinite obstacles that come in the way. And so if you're attached to the obstacle and you're like, oh shit, that shouldn't happen that way, you're just changing your energy in the moment. And creating more of that. So it's like knowing and then letting go. I think letting go is like the second big key to creating. Yeah, letting go seems like a weakness, or like surrendering seems like I'm giving up, and I'm— that's actually the, the strongest position you can take is letting go and having faith that things are going to happen the way they're supposed to. That's the strongest position you could take.

Yeah, always ask like, okay, so why did this happen? Like, why'd this happen for me? Like, why'd this happen for me? I wonder, like, whatever adversity it might be I could— I hit a ton of them building the company. Yeah. And then early on when I wasn't really like grounded in the thinking, I'd be like, oh, why the eff is this happening to me? What the hell? You know, whatever. And then I changed my thinking and then something, you know, let's say, you know, not positive would happen. And I'd be like, huh, I wonder why this— I wonder what lesson this is going to give me for down the road. And when you look back, I'm sure you could do the same thing. There are so many things that happened that weren't like let me say the most positive, but what you learn from them helped get you where you are today. You needed it. You needed it. Yeah. And if you never learned that, if you didn't have that bump or that hit, you wouldn't have gotten to where you are today as fast as you did. Yeah. You might be still, you know, so I got to the point when those things were happening, those roadblocks, those bumps, I'd be like, oh, okay, so this is teaching me something. I wonder what it's going to be. Yeah. I'd write it down. I have my journal. Like, I don't know when this— I don't know when this is going to come back.

You learn to have a different relationship with challenges.

Yeah, that's right. That's right. Like, I, um, I do jiu-jitsu. Oh, and, uh, I've been doing Brazilian jiu-jitsu now for I don't know how many years. I got to— I have my purple belt. Oh, nice. And, um, pretty badass, badass sport. It's a badass sport. Yeah, and it's so fun. It changed my life early on when I was new. There were so many times where I would like get submitted by either someone who was at my same level or higher level, whatever. And I would get angry. I'd be like, oh man, whatever. And I didn't realize that all those things were slowly building up to if it happened again, I would recognize it. And so I started thinking differently. I started— every time I got submitted by someone who was either my rank or higher rank, whatever, I kind of just took a note when I went home of what happened. Yeah. And then I started— this is the wildest thing— I started taking note of what happened before it happened. What happened before the submission? Because at first I was just like, he got me in an armbar, or he got me in a choke, and I wrote down armbar, choke, whatever. And then I take— I started taking it one step further, and I said, what happened right before right before he got the choke? What happened right before he got the armbar? And I would think about that and then I would write that down. I reached for this and that exposed my arm and it led to the armbar. I tried to do this and that exposed my neck. It led to the choke. And then what I got better at was the before— some guys call it left of bang, right? The pre-event indicator. What happened before the bad thing happened? Right. And I started noticing that. I carry that over into business. I start noticing little trends, which I'm sure you do in your space. You start noticing them a lot earlier. Yeah. And you just got— now, now it's a game. I want to see 2 or 3 steps before the event occurs. What's happening? And now you notice that you're like, I just saw that happen. And I know that means what happens next is this, what happens next is this, and that what happens next is like fucked.

'Yeah, let's stop it right now.' And you can only learn that through the challenges. Yes, it's like you get a different relationship with them.

Yes, and you start learning, you start embracing failures, you start embracing the losses, and you start— whatever it is, what I went through in my life growing up on Staten Island, New York, as a guy as dark as me, not Italian by the way, and like I went through so much adversity. They threw a quarter stick of dynamite through my window trying to get us to leave the neighborhood. Yeah. It exploded on the couch right next to where my sister and I were sleeping. They threw a brick first and they threw a quarter stick of dynamite through the window. It blew up on the arm of the sofa that I was sleeping on with my sister. That's how bad they wanted us out of that neighborhood. But I learned from that. Yeah. I learned from that. And people are like, that's hatred. That's racism. Yes. But all those things that I dealt with, racism from cops, racism, getting fired from my job because the color of my skin. All of that stuff put the $200,000 car that's in my driveway in my driveway, right? Right. Like, that all— I can't— you can't discount that. Yeah, all of it into who you are. That's it. And so, yes, I'm thankful. Yeah, I'm thankful for all that adversity, all that hatred, all that racism, everything I dealt with, because if that stuff didn't happen to me I don't know if I'd be where I am today. Yeah, you know, so it's kind of a crazy way to look at it, but I'm in such a powerful position today in my life, growing up with a single mom who wasn't even from this country, barely spoke the language, to where I am today. People were like— people would— people told me it was not possible, and they tried to— they tried to force that victim mentality down my throat because of how I looked. I was a little Black kid, a little brown kid. But I just kind of shifted my thinking and saying, what if all this stuff is actually happening for me to strengthen me, to get me to that next level? And the proof is where I am today, right now. That's it. You can't— it's undeniable. I made it. So I dare someone to say I got lucky. Yeah. Or someone handed me something. No, none of that. So it had— it served me. Yeah. It served me in some way and got me to where I am. And it was, it was hard, but the company and where I am and what I've accomplished now, um, and some of the people I'm able to help, I'm, I'm so thankful for it.

Yeah, I think that's a great ending note. It's, you know, you got to be thankful for all the different things in your life. Yeah, for the adversity, for the challenges, for the people that you can, uh, skate by quickly without having to go down a deep rabbit hole with. Yeah. Um, so yeah, thank you.
