West Palm Beach is smaller and slower than Miami, attracting permanent residents and business owners who want a break from the sprawl. The speaker wonders if West Palm could eventually overtake Miami as the region's dominant city.
Do you think West Palm has the potential city over Miami in the future? Miami is big and spread out. West Palm is the center of Palm Beach County and it's pretty small, few square miles of downtown. On the development side, you're not going to have any story buildings in West Palm Beach. It's been a little bit more tempered on that side and it's provided for less fast-paced of a lifestyle. And I think it's attracted sort of more permanent type of person. It's been like a principal of a business has moved there and then brought people here. Whereas Miami, it's so big and so diverse that it just kind of keeps going forever.
