A CIA officer breaks down what the job actually entails: no car chases or explosions, just driving around, checking for surveillance, and meeting contacts in hotel rooms. The real tradecraft is mundane and unglamorous, nothing like Hollywood makes it out to be.
Unlike typical Hollywood depictions of espionage, you know, where you're like car chases and scaling walls and blowing up safes and running from assassins, that's not ever happening. Like, no, you're in a hotel room or a parked car with like a fat Serbian man, like trying to figure out like, like, what do I have to offer this guy? The movie wouldn't be as entertaining if they did it like that. No, it would— if you like actually, you know, filmed a day in the life of a CIA officer. I mean, a lot of it is like driving around, making sure you're not being followed. Followed, whatever.
