Jason Berkowitz argues that AI automation of routine SEO tasks like internal linking can backfire without human oversight. He warns against letting AI make strategic decisions that need brand alignment and critical thinking, and describes a tool designed to handle boring work while keeping humans in control.
One of the things my team pointed out, they're like, ask him about automating the mundane SEO without sacrificing human critical thinking.
Yeah.
What does that mean? Like for the practitioner in practice?
There's a bunch of graphics out there on the, on the interwebs about what the future marketing team will look like. And it has critical thinker, critical thinker, critical thinker, critical thinker. And right below each one is AI agents.
Uh-huh.
Now, there are tasks that, and I'm sure we've all experienced this, things that would take us hours to do, which now take 5, 10 minutes, which is awesome. And those are things that don't necessarily require human intervention. They don't require critical thinking skills. But people are making decisions or letting AI make decisions that should require human intervention and things are blown up. It's just, it's just a clusterfuck and a mess everywhere. What we're doing right now is we want to deliver really great SEO results. That's personal, custom, very bespoke, but taking the mundane things like internal linking, like finding internal link opportunities from one page to another. It's not sexy. It's boring. It's annoying. And you might spend an hour and not find a single opportunity. We built a tool that could just do it in a matter of less than a minute.
Nice.
So that's what the mundane SEO tasks that don't need the critical thinking, but the strategy, also alignment with the brand, making sure that you're all serving the bigger picture on what the brand actually cares about. Yeah, you need, you need people at the top and humans.
