Jason Berkowitz explains why SEO agencies get fired despite strong results: they either communicate well or deliver ROI, rarely both. A team might generate a 16-times return but lose the client because nobody explained it in plain language the CEO understood.

'Cause in our world, it's very interesting where with SEO you have like full-service agencies that offer every single marketing vertical and they kill it with communication. They're great talkers, they have great soft skills, but they can't deliver on the results. And often that communication could buy tons of time, like a year in time. And when the client's like, yo, we've been doing this for a year, like, like what's going on? But then you also on the other side have really great SEOs, like people who can deliver kick-ass results, but they can't explain what is going on to the client. And the client needs to report it to their CEO who doesn't know about algorithms and heading tags, whatever, just on a simple level. Our goal is to bridge that. So that's what we consider our service is, a good mix of kick-ass service and kick-ass communication.
I talked to an SEO agency last week who their best results, their client with the best results called 'em up one day and said, hey, we're gonna, we gotta end the contract. He's like, what the hell? Like, why? You're doing awesome. And he is like, we're, we're what? What do you mean we're doing awesome? He's like, I made you 16 times your money. Like, what are you talking about? He's like, you made me 16 times my money. Like, they had no idea because the client experience you're talking about, like, no one told him that in a way he understood it. They just used all these technical terms. So that's awesome.
