Jay Shaw argues that awareness alone won't break entrenched patterns because the subconscious runs 98% of your behavior while consciousness is only 2%. He advocates neural reprogramming and repetition to install new behaviors for people stuck despite therapy or journaling.

Self-awareness without reprogramming is just getting a better view of the same cage. And I say that with full respect to the work you've done. The therapy, the journaling, the books, the retreats, the podcasts. You did all of it. You understand yourself better than most people ever will, and you're still in the same patterns. Not because the work wasn't real, but because awareness was never the finish line. Awareness lives in the conscious mind. That's about 2% of your total mental processing. That's where the insight happens. That's where the breakthroughs in therapy sessions happen. That's where you say, oh, okay, I see why I do this. And then you go home and you do it again because the pattern isn't stored in the conscious mind. It's stored in the subconscious, that other 98%. And the subconscious doesn't respond to insight. It doesn't care about your breakthrough. It responds to one thing: repetition of a new pattern until it becomes the dominant program. Knowing that the cage is built doesn't open the door. And this isn't an attack on awareness. Awareness is the first step. You have to see the pattern before you can change it. But somewhere along the way, the personal development industry convinced people that seeing it was the same thing as shifting it. And it's not. It's a good way to sell you more books, but it's not fixing it. You can be able to describe your trauma with clinical precision and still flinch at the same triggers. You can know exactly where your self-sabotage comes from and still watch yourself do it in slow motion. And it's not failure, it's just using the wrong tool for the job. So awareness opens the door, but reprogramming walks you through it. You've spent years understanding who you've been. It's time to install who you're becoming, not through more insight, but through direct intervention at the level where the pattern actually lives. That's not talk therapy. That's not mindset work. That's neural reprogramming. That's Identity 2.0. If you've done all the work and you're still stuck in the same loop, follow me. You're not broken. You've just been using awareness when you needed reprogramming.
