🔥 Take Control of Your Focus: The Power of Clarity, Calibration, and Confidence

Coach J lays out his 5 C's framework: Clarity, Calibration, Confidence, Competence, and Consistency. He argues most people fail from lack of clarity, not discipline, and that focusing on what you don't want breeds anxiety and excuses. Write down precise goals and visualize them daily.

What's up, Christine? Welcome, welcome, welcome. Let's talk, let's talk facts, man. You could be, do, or have anything you desire. Your only limit in life is your own imagination. If you could think it, you could do it. You can't think it, you can't do it. But if you could think it, if you can get an image of it in your head, you're gonna start moving towards it on accident. Hopefully y'all got some goals going into the new year. Hopefully you got an image in your head of what you want. Hopefully you got a notebook where you starting to write stuff down just so you can start getting clarity on what you want. I say it all the time, you can't get what you want until you know what you want. You don't know what you want, your chance of getting it is absolutely zero. If you don't know what you want, you got a better chance of getting hit by, hit by lightning than getting it. You got to get clear about what you want. You can't get what you want until you know what you want. You can't get what you want until you know what you want. You can make all the resolutions you want, it better have some clarity in it. Most people don't keep their resolutions past 2 weeks. You know why? Because it's unclear, it's not measurable, it's not specific. You could be doing how— anything you desire. The only thing that can stop you is you. Do you understand that? The only thing that can stop you is you. Nothing else can stop you. You could decide to quit as you give your attention to other things, but nothing else can stop you, man. You better realize how powerful you are. You better remember who the hell you are. You could be, do, and have anything you desire. You could be, do, and have anything you desire. Your only limit in your life is your own imagination. If you could think it, you could do it. Can't think it, can't do it. But if you could think it, you could do it. You gotta understand, man, it got to be an idea before it could be a business. It got to be an idea before it could be a relationship. It got to be an idea before it could be a house. It got to be an idea before it could be a car. It got to be an idea before it could be a partnership. You got to start realizing the power of your ideas. Like, the, the full-blown manifestation is great, but understand you don't got the full-blown manifestation without the idea. You can't build a course until you got an idea. You can't design a shirt till you got an idea. You can't build a business without the idea. You gotta realize the power of your ideas. Look around. Everything around you was an idea before it was a thing. There's a light over my head. It was an idea before it was a light. This coffee cup was an idea before it was a coffee cup. This iPhone was an idea before it was an iPhone. This— I got my MacBook right here. It was an idea before it was a MacBook. You gotta start sitting with your ideas, because the thing about it is, if they wouldn't have sat with the idea, I wouldn't be— I wouldn't have this coffee cup. Somebody got an idea, but they didn't just get an idea and let it go. They got an idea and sat with it. You got to start sitting with your ideas. You got to start working those 5 C's that we talking about. You got to get clarity, because you can't get what you want till you know what you want. After you know what you want, you got to get calibrated. You got to put your attention on what you want. You got to put your focus on what you want. You got to put your mind on what you want, because You gotta hold it in your mind before you can hold it in your hands. After you calibrate, you're gonna accidentally become confident. If you keep calibrating, it's impossible not to become confident. Yep. You've been looking for the hack to become confident. Calibrate to what you want. When you get calibrated to what you want, your shoulders naturally go back, your chest naturally go out, your chin naturally go up. When you get calibrated to a well-formed outcome that you designed, not that somebody else designed for you, but when you get calibrated to a goal that you designed, when you get calibrated to what you desire, watch how confidence find you. Watch Watch how good ideas find you. Watch how creativity find you. Watch how new partnerships and new relationships and new circumstances and money and customers and clients find you. And when you calibrate it to what you don't want, when you got your undivided attention on what you don't want and what can go wrong, watch how depression find you. You ain't got to go looking for it, it'll find you. Watch how insecurity find you. You ain't got to go looking for it, it'll find you. Watch how procrastination find you. When you focused on what you don't want, you don't got to try to feel bad. That's the natural progression of focusing on what you don't want. But hear me when I say this: you could be, do, and have anything you desire. If you can think it, you can do it. If you can't think it, you can't do it. But if you could think it, if you could put your attention on it, if you think about it long enough and hard enough, you'll start doing it on accident. But you got to make a goal. You can't get what you want until you know what you want. You don't know what to focus on until you know what you want. You don't know what to do until you know what you want. You don't know what classes to take until you know what you want. I need you to stop focusing so heavily on what you don't want. Look at what you don't want long enough to ask yourself one question. And if you watch my content all the time, you already know what the one question is. Look at what you don't want long enough to ask yourself, what would you rather have? What's up, Tasha? What's up, Kiki? What's up, Grammy? How you doing? And once you know what you would rather have, guess what you got to do? You got to put your attention on what you would rather have. I'm telling you, as you focus on what you would rather have, you're gonna start getting ideas about how to get it. You're gonna start getting inklings. Go here, try this, do that. You're gonna start meeting new people. You're gonna start discovering new books. You're gonna start discovering new podcasts. I just met a guy in the lobby of my office. I was passing through because we thinking about doing some more things on social media in 2025. I was passing through. He said, hey, big dog, you mind doing me a favor? I said, what's up, fam? He said, man, you mind snapping me up some pictures? And I was— I took a few pictures. I probably took about 10 pictures for him. I said, what you gonna do with these? You, um, post them on your social media? He said, yeah, I'm a social media manager. I said, oh man, let me see, let me see, let me see your page. He put me on this page and that's all he was doing. I said, hey man, put your number in my phone. I'm, you know, we looking at doing— I wasn't looking for this guy. We was just in the right place at the right time. But I got an intention of doing some new things with our YouTube page. I got the intention of doing some more things with our website. As I just set the intention and I sit with the The attention, the people to make it happen gonna start finding me. The resources to pay the people gonna find me. You owe it to yourself to start sitting with your ideas. You owe it to yourself to get clear about what you want. Most people's biggest problem is that they don't have clarity. They think it's a discipline problem. They think it's a procrastination problem. They think it's a, um, consistency problem. They think it's a confidence problem. When the biggest problem is they don't got clarity. It's hard to be disciplined when you don't got clarity. It's hard to be consistent when you don't got clarity. It's easier to procrastinate when you don't know what you're doing. You got to get clear about what you want. You got to get clear about what you want. These vague goals, you got to put that to bed. And what— when the reason it don't work is because the goal will be vague, but what you don't want is right in your face. You can— when you talk about what you don't want, you dot every i and you cross every t. When you talk about what you don't want, you get emotional. When you're talking about what you don't want, you, you use your full body. But when you're talking about what you want, it's vague. The details not there. It's not descriptive. Which one you think your nervous system gonna invest more in? Which one you think gonna get you moving? Because both of them gonna get you moving. It's one gonna get you moving towards anxiety, depression, procrastination. One gonna get you moving towards inspiration, confidence. Motivation, putting in the work. You got to control your focus. You got to get clear about what you want and start focusing on it every day. When you get clear about what you want, you start focusing on it. Watch how you want to do the work. Watch how you want to go live. Watch how you want to go to the gym. Watch how you want to eat certain foods. Watch how you want to do the things to get you closer to that goal. Because where the mind goes, the body follows. So when you put your attention on what you don't want, it's natural that you When you put your attention on what you don't want, it's natural that you feel anxious. You don't got an anxiety problem, you got a focus problem. You don't got a procrastination problem, you got a focusing problem. You focusing on what you don't want. Better get over here and learn these 5 Z's so you can get clear about what you want and get calibrated about what you want. Now we're gonna keep calibrating you until you become confident in what you want. Come— when you get confident, the competence gonna flow through you. You're gonna have some work to do, but it's gonna be work that you want to do. It's gonna be work that you're doing because you believe in the outcome. When you're trying to do the work before you believe in the outcome, oh man, you shooting yourself in the foot. You having to drag yourself to do the work because you don't even feel like it's possible. When you learn how to condition your nervous system, when you learn how to condition your endocrine system, and you feel like it's possible before you even physically get started because you've done the work in here, oh man, the power that creates worlds is at your fingertips. The power to turn acorns into oak trees is at your, at your fingertips. The power to create those beautiful sunsets is at your fingertips. The power to put the Earth the perfect amount of space from the sun, the power that keeps the planets in orbit, it's at your fingertips. But when you don't feel like you could do it, when you focused on what you don't want, when you calibrated to what can go wrong, you still connected to that power, but you pinching it off. You still connected to the power, but you pinching it off. So it's like you vacuuming the floor, but the vacuum not plugged in. So it's making lines, but it's not doing nearly what it could be doing if you plug that thing in. You better get plugged in. The way that you get plugged in is by getting clear about what you want. You can't get what you want till you know what you want. Get clear about what you want. After you get clear about what you want, you're gonna calibrate to what you want. What's calibration, Coach J? Calibration is when you put your attention on it. When you calibrate to a funny movie, you don't got to try to laugh. Just calibrate to the movie. You calibrate to a sad movie, you don't got to try to get sad. Just calibrate to the movie. You see what I'm saying? If you calibrate to an action movie, you don't got to try to get excited. Just calibrate to the movie. But if you get clear about what you want, get you some goals, and you calibrate to those goals, you don't got to try to get inspired. Just calibrate to the goal. You don't got to try to feel motivated. Just calibrate to the goal. You don't got to try to figure it out. Just calibrate to the goal. And once you calibrate to the goal, good ideas gonna start finding you. The right circumstances gonna start finding you. The right situation is gonna start finding you. When you calibrate it to what you don't want, anxiety will find you. Procrastination will find you. Excuses will find you. You don't got to go looking for excuses. When you calibrate to what you want, really good excuses will find you. But let me tell you something, that same imagination that you use to create those really good excuses, it's the same imagination you're gonna use to create those really good ways to overcome those obstacles. So that same imagination come up with really good solutions if you just get calibrated to what you want. Stop using your, your superpower to stay stuck. Stop using your superpower to come up with excuses. If you could come up with an excuse, you could come up with a solution. If you can imagine an excuse, you can imagine a solution. Where the mind goes, the body follows. If you hand the mind an excuse, the body gonna go to the excuse. But if you hand the mind a solution, the body gonna go to the solution. The body has no choice in the matter. The body is going to follow the mind. The body is going to follow the mind. You got to send your mind to your success. You got to send your mind to the outcome that you want. And you got to start working on your mind daily, man. You got to start working on your confidence daily. You got to start working on your clarity daily. This your dream we talking about, man. It's your life we talking about. What you mean you don't got time to visualize? What you mean you don't got time to get clarity, but you got time to scroll on TikTok and watch TV and do all kind of other bullshit? What you mean? It's your life we talking about now. It's your children's legacy we talking about. It's your finances we talking about. It's your health we talking about. You talking about you ain't got time to close your eyes and get a picture of what you want? Knock it off, man. You could be, do, and have anything you desire, but you got to take time to desire it. You got to take time to put your attention on it. You got to take time to focus on it. And if you stop spending All that time talking about and dreaming about and discussing what you don't want, you'll magically open up a whole lot of time to focus on what you really want. All that time that's being spent complaining, all that time being spent talking about what you want, start spending that time focusing on what you want and watch how you start accidentally start— watch how you accidentally start coming up with some really good ideas. Watch how you accidentally build a business. Watch how you accidentally build a following. Watch how you accidentally start going to the gym. Watch how you accidentally find yourself in a friend group with people who want the same thing you want. They pushing you. Watch how you accidentally find some people that's going to talk you into it instead of talking you out of it. But it's going to require you to make a decision. Not let me see what hap— no, I want that. I'm getting that. I'm gonna have it. I could be, do, and have anything I desire. My only limit in life is my own imagination. If I could think it, I could do it. Let me start thinking it. Let me put my attention on it. Let me focus on it. And when you take control of your focus, man, you take control of your life. I hate it. I hate good excuses because they're good enough for you to believe. Stop using your imagination to come up with excuses. If you can imagine an excuse, you can imagine a solution. If you can get yourself into it, you can get yourself out of it. Okay, but it's gonna cost you to put down the problem and start focusing on the solution. Stop fighting with the problem. Stop arguing with the problem. Stop explaining the problem. Stop justifying the problem. What would I rather have? Whatever the answer to that is, focus on that. Focus on that. Your only limit is your own thinking. And in order— if you want to do something you never did, you got to think some thoughts you never thought. If you want to do something somebody in your family has never done before, you got to start thinking thoughts nobody in your family has done before. You can't think the same thoughts they've been thinking and get results that they haven't got. Well, my grandma— I don't care what your grandma say. Do your grandma have the results you want? My mama said— I don't care what your mama say. Does your mama have the result that you want? Stop listening to people who don't got the results you want. I ain't say you didn't have to love them. I ain't say you didn't have to respect them. I said stop— if you want to be entrepreneurs, stop listening to people who ain't never built shit. If you want to write a book, stop listening to people who ain't never wrote a book. If you want to blow up on social, stop listening to people who ain't never blew up on social. Find you a mentor. Find you somebody who has done the thing that you want to do and listen to them. Find you somebody who has done the thing that you want to do and reverse engineer what they doing. Some people, I get so tired of it, man. If I just had a mentor. Okay, who are some people that you look up to that you studying right now? Who are some people that you look up to? Have you read their autobiography? Find an influencer that you like. Have you went on their page and looked at what they doing and tried to figure out what they doing? No, you found a good excuse and you start using it and you stop putting in work. You got calibrated to the excuse and now your body is following suit. Figure out what you want, get calibrated to what you want, and watch how you start doing it on accident. There's a reason they tell race car drivers don't look at that wall, because they understand that if you look at that wall, you're gonna hit that wall. Stop looking at stuff that you don't want. Take your attention off the stuff that you don't want. Y'all in for a rude awakening in 2025, because man, we finna take it into a whole new atmosphere. We finna scare off all the wrong people, and it's gonna be— y'all know that hat I wear to say I coach bosses. If you're not a boss, you're gonna hate these lives in 2025. And we talking to a very specific group of people, and if you ain't in that group, get the fuck out. Get the fuck out. The group finna get smaller and smaller, but I'd rather have a small group of people Who ready to do some things that's never been done before than a room full of mediocre people? We done with mediocrity. Better get clear about what you want. You better start calibrating what you want. Keep calibrating until you become confident. I don't care what they say on CNN, keep calibrating. I don't care what your bank account look like, keep calibrating. I don't care what the doctor said, keep calibrating. I don't care how you feel, keep calibrating. I don't care what good excuse you just came up with, keep calibrating. If you just keep calibrating, you're gonna accidentally become confident. And when you become confident in your desired outcome, man, you, you gonna— this magical thing gonna happen inside of you where you can't quit. This magical thing will happen to you where you can't give up on yourself. This magical thing will happen to you where some nights you can't go to sleep because you got an idea that you just gotta work on. This magical thing gonna happen to you where you'd rather work on your business than hang out with your friends. There's a magical thing gonna happen to you where you'd rather go to the gym than sit on the couch and watch TV. But it's going to require you clear about what you want, calibrating what you want, and keep calibrating until you become confident. Somebody tried affirmations once. I tried that, that didn't work. You tried it one time after 10 years of shitty thinking? You thought one round of affirmations gonna knock it off, man? Come on, come on. You thought one session of positive thinking was gonna undo 10 years? Like, knock it off, man. If you don't want it, say you don't want it. But if you want it, I'm giving you the recipe to get it. 5C. Clarity, calibration, confidence, competence, consistency. Apply those 5 C's. If you don't got your golden ticket, get your golden ticket. We, we working the 5 C's weekly. We got a community where we talk 5 C's daily. You could be, do, and have anything you desire, but you're gonna have to bet on you. You're gonna have to believe in you. You're gonna have to invest in you. You're gonna have to start thinking on purpose. You gotta understand that your mind is not you. Your mind is a tool that you use. Stop letting your mind tell you what to do. It's your job to tell your mind what to do. Stop letting your circumstances dictate how you feel. Create some new ones. Like all this spiritual babysitting, it's over. We not doing it. You are a creator. Creators create. What do you want? What do you want? Answer that question. Once you answer that question, focus on it. Focus on what you want. That's step one. That's step one. You telling me you so undisciplined in your thinking you can't focus on what you want? You telling me you so undisciplined in your thinking that your mind just do what it want to do? Your mind— you, you got no control over your mind? You just gotta watch that TV show. You just can't start that. You telling me your mind got so much momentum going that you can't jump in, man? If you don't get clear about what you want, if you don't start focusing on what you want, you can't blame nobody but you. The only thing that can stop you from creating the life that you desire is you. No disease can't stop you. No diagnosis can't stop you. No divorce can't stop you. No separation can't stop you. The economy can't stop you. The person in the White House can't stop you. Now you can pay attention to those things and decide to quit, but you should have been focusing on what you wanted anyway. We're gonna let go of all excuses. We're gonna take full accountability. We're gonna take full ownership for everything in our life. We're gonna say, my bank account balance, I created that. My weight, I created that. My mindset, I created that. The state of my relationships, I created that. Everything in my life, I created that. And that's good news, because if I created it and I don't like it, I mean, I just got to create something else. What do you want? What do you want? Your only limit in life is your own imagination. If you can think it, you could do it. Can't think it, can't do it. I want you to say that out loud. My only limit in life is my own imagination. My only limit in life is my own imagination. If I can imagine it, I can do it. If I can imagine it, I can do it. Can you imagine it? If you can't, you better start practicing. Just because you can't imagine it right now don't mean in a week you won't be mad, you won't be able to. But you can't try it one time and say it didn't work. Imagine going to the gym one time and saying, oh, that didn't work. You're damn right it didn't work. You went one time. You went one time. You got to work on that mind daily. You got to work on disciplining your mind. You got to work on structuring your thoughts. You got to work on powering your focus daily. And I'm telling you, as you discipline your mind, as you call your disciples to order, as you discipline your mind, you could be standing in the midst of something that you don't like and you can send your mind elsewhere. As you discipline your mind, you're going to develop the superpower where you can see solutions where other people see problems. You're going to develop the superpower where you can see oak trees where other people see acorns. You're going to develop this superpower, this superpower that makes you unstoppable. This superpower where you constantly knowing you could be doing, have anything you desire. It's one thing to understand the stuff that we talk about in here logically. But it's a whole nother thing to have it in you. It's a whole nother thing to know like you know, like you know, like you know. It's a whole nother thing to feel it. It's one thing to know it, but it's a whole nother thing to feel it. It's one thing to know the 5 C's. It's a whole nother thing to be in your life looking at something you don't like and say, okay, let me get clarity. All right, now that I got my clarity, let me calibrate. And I'm gonna keep calibrating until I become confident. I don't care what they say on CNN. I'm gonna keep calibrating. I'm not calibrating the CNN. I'm calibrating this. I'm not calibrating how many people in the room. I'm calibrating to the message I came to deliver. I'm not calibrating to my bank account. I'm calibrating the wealth. But if I keep calibrating to wealth, eventually I'm gonna become confident in the wealth. And once I become confident in the wealth, good ideas gonna start flowing through me. And because I'm confident in the good ideas, once I execute the good idea, guess what gotta happen? The bank account gonna catch up. The bank account can't calibrate to you if you too busy calibrating to the bank account. I need you to take your attention off of the bank account for a little while. I need you to take your attention off of the scale for a little while. I say it all the time, it's a reason that you close your eyes when you pray. It's a reason that you close your eyes when you meditate, because in order to create something that's not physically here yet, you got to take your eyes off of what is. You got to shut down that visual cortex, figure out what you want, and you got to start seeing it in your head. You gotta hold it in your head before you can hold it in your hands. Yeah. Before you can hold it in your hands. If you can't hold it in your head, you can't hold it in your hands. But if you just start holding it in your head, if you just start putting your attention on it, I'm telling you, man, you'll start closing that gap on accident. If you could stop getting distracted by the fact that it's not here yet and you could just keep calibrating— if you don't know about calibration, you got to come around more so you can learn the 5 seeds. But if you could keep calibrating, if you could keep calibrating, you're gonna stumble into confidence. And when you stumble into confidence, competence ain't gonna be no problem for you. Doing the stuff ain't gonna be no problem for you, because once you get there, it's literally the power that creates worlds flowing through you. Mm-hmm. But what— and but the fact that we know distraction works, what you do is you use your goal to distract you from anxiety. Because we know distraction works. What you do is you use your goals to distract you from depression, because we know the distraction does work. It's been working. Distraction was keeping you stuck. But when you get calibrated to your goal, you so calibrated to your goal that all that stuff used to hold you back, you now use your goal to distract you from the old you. You use this new version of yourself, use this new concept of yourself to distract you from the old self. And after you. That's what calibration is all about. Yep, exactly. There we go. The only thing that can stop you is you. Your only limit is your own imagination. You better take control of your imagination. You better take control of your focus. I'm telling you, man, as I'm talking to you right now, I'm not using willpower to talk to you. I got an image of where I'm headed. I got an image of the point that I want to make. I got an image of the picture that I want to paint for you. What I do is I put my attention on that picture and my subconscious mind fills in the blank. That's why I'm always asking you, what do you desire? What is the end goal? If you can get the end goal in your mind, the stuff in the middle gonna start happening on accident. You gonna download the middle. If you could just go, what do I want? Okay, I'm gonna put my attention on that. I'm gonna put my attention on what I want. I'ma focus on what I want. I'm not gonna get distracted by what they saying on CNN. I'm not gonna get distracted by what they saying on MSNBC. I'm not gonna get distracted by the fact that my mama think it's a bad idea. I'm not gonna get distracted by the fact that my partner don't believe. I'ma keep focusing on what I want. And as you keep focusing on what you want, good ideas gonna start showing up. As you keep focusing on what you want. Opportunities gonna start showing up as you keep focusing on what you want. The right books gonna show up, the right mentors gonna show up, the right piece of advice gonna show up, the pieces gonna show up. You just got to be focused on what you want. And the dope thing about it is the stuff that you want already here, you just got to get in alignment with it. They're not porting stuff in from other planets. Everything is already here. You just got to be in alignment so that you know it when you see it. When— but when you calibrate it to what you don't want, you could be in the midst of what you do want and don't even know to, to reach for it. When you're not calibrated to what you don't want— calibration equals alignment— when you're not calibrated to what you want, you could be standing next to the person with the opportunity. But when you calibrate to what you don't want, you too nervous to go over there and talk to them. When you calibrate it to what can go wrong, you can't even stop stuttering and stop sweating and get out of your own head long enough to Make the connection you with the person. See, when you uncalibrated, you can be the you can have the opportunity, but you're not gonna do what's meant to be done with it because you're not calibrated. You're not programmed correctly. You could be doing have anything you desire, but it's gonna take you saying, "What do I want?" Focusing on what you want, putting your attention on what you want. That's that's step one. Well, that's step one and two. Figure out what you want. Step one, clarity. That's what we call one C clarity. What's two C calibration? Keep calibrating. What's three C confidence? If you just keep calibrating, you gonna make it to three C on accident. Three C not something that you force. Three C is something you allow. Confidence is not something you make happen. Confidence is what shows up when you program the mind. Does that make sense? We want the confidence to show up before the clarity. That's not how it works. You got to get clear about what you want. Let's look at what confidence is. Confidence is your belief in your ability to achieve a specific outcome, right? Confidence is your belief in your ability to achieve a specific outcome. If you don't have a specific outcome, how do you become confident? A relational segment. Tell me more what you might— what you mean. But does that make sense? If I don't have a specific outcome to be confident in, how do I expect to be confident? Oh man, I don't got confidence. You don't got confidence in what? I don't— I just don't got confidence. Confidence in what? Because you got confidence right now. You got confidence in the fact that you don't got— you're always confident in something. Right now you're just confident in your failure. Right now you're just confident in your inability to do it. You got confidence, it's just pointed in the wrong direction. So I need you to put that down, whatever that is you focus on. I need you to put that down, okay? Put that down so that you can pick this up. I say it all the time, big problems got big solutions. So if you got a really big problem, guess what? I mean, it's a big-ass solution with your name on it. But if you distracted by the big-ass problem, you can't even become aware of the big-ass solution. Stop focusing on the problem. The problem is keeping you stuck. The problem is keeping you up at night. The problem is aging you. The problem is filling you up with cortisol. The problem is taking you to an early grave. You take your attention off of the problem so that you can allow the solution. I'm telling you, time you take your attention off of that problem, this solution's waiting, waiting on you.
