Think It, Become It: How to Reprogram Your Mindset for Success

Jay Shaw argues that imagination programs your subconscious mind to drive behavior and outcomes. He walks through a seven-step framework: clarify what you want emotionally, use visualization and affirmations to embed it, align daily attention to that goal, break it into measurable actions, reprogram your critical mind, treat failure as data, and practice self-accountability.
Chapters
Good. What's good? What's good? Welcome to the live. Welcome to the live. Good morning. Happy Friday. Let's just start off by saying the normal. You could be doing, have anything you desire. The only limit in life is your own imagination. If you can think it, you could do it. You can't think it, you can't do it. But you can think it. Are you willing to use your willpower and get clear about what you want? Are you willing to purposely start thinking about it? Are you willing to use discipline and say, "I'm not gonna think about that. I'm gonna think about this." If you're willing to do that, you can create the life you desire. If you're not willing to do that, you can keep complaining, keep doing what you've been doing, keep having what you've been having. Be doing have anything you desire, but it's gonna start with you making a decision to have the things that you desire. You gotta quit waiting to see what's gonna happen. You got to make a decision. What do I want to happen? The best way to predict the future is to create it, and you are a creator. It's in your nature to create. Take responsibility for your future and start creating. What do you want? What do you want? Can you answer that question? I know you know what you don't want. I know you know what you don't want, but will you use your logic? Will you use your analysis? Will you use your reasoning ability? Will you use your imagination to get clear on what you would rather have? Because once you get clear on what you want and you start thinking about it on purpose, you got to realize where the mind goes, the body follows. If you could just send your mind in the direction of where you want, that idea is going to start showing up. Opportunity is going to start showing up. Circumstances gonna start shifting. You're gonna start meeting people who move you closer. But at the same time, if you focus on what you don't want, you're gonna still get ideas. It's gonna be— it's just gonna be ideas that align with what you don't want. You're gonna still meet new people and new circumstances. It's just gonna be people and circumstances that align with what you don't want. You gotta understand that your brain is a big-ass antenna, and your mood is how you set the frequency of what that antenna is attracting. You got to take control of your thinking. You got to get in the habit of telling your thoughts what to think and You gotta quit letting other people— you gotta quit letting circumstances decide your mood. You got to start living on purpose. You got to start living with intention. Your intention controls your attention. When you don't have any intentions, your attention is up for grabs. So you'll end up on TikTok just aimlessly strolling. You end up on the internet just aimlessly strolling. But when you got intentions, it gives your day structure. When you give your day structure, you give your life structure. You got to get goals that are measurable. You got to get goals that excite you. You got to get goals that make you get out of the bed. It's some mornings where I really want to stay out of the bed— stay in the bed, but I want to get out of the bed more because of the things I'm thinking about. I'm thinking about things that won't allow me to sit in the bed. I'm thinking about things that won't allow me just to sit on the couch. I'm thinking about things that excite me enough that I want to take action. It's not something I got to do. It's something that I get to do. And I want that same thing for you, but that's going to require you first off getting clear about what it is that you desire. And let me tell you something, small— I don't know about you, but small goals don't excite me. Small goals don't excite me. $100 don't get me out of my bed. $200 not gonna get me out of my bed. Big numbers excite me. Exciting things excite me. Get you a big goal. Get you a goal to really scare the shit out of you just a little bit. Get you a goal, you're like, man, that's gonna require What a new version of you created. That's gonna require you what to start thinking bigger. Do it. That's gonna require you what to start showing up for yourself, to quit treating yourself like a mistake, to quit treating yourself like an option. Let's do it. You could be doing have anything you desire, but you got to start taking you serious. You gotta, and a lot of people ain't gonna like this. You gotta make the most important thing in your life you. A lot of people gonna hear that and say, "Well, no, the people I care about supposed to be the most important." Let me tell you something: You can only do for them what you do for you. You can only care for them for the— to the extent you care for yourself. If we talk for a long period of time especially, let me tell you something. When you take care of you, when you take the time to make you feel good, everybody around you benefit. Your kids get better parents when you feel good. Your boss get better employees when you feel good. Your employees get a better boss when you feel good. You're a better friend when you feel good. You're a better son. You're a better daughter. You're a better grandson. You're a better granddaughter. You are all around better person when you feel good. When you don't feel good, you snap on people that you won't snap to— snap that you typically wouldn't snap at. When you don't feel good, you be short with your kids and you go watch TV, go do something else when you don't feel good. But when you feel good, you want to spend time with them, you want to play with them, you want to get down on the ground and play with them. But when you don't feel good, you're not interested in doing it. Stop putting everybody before you and start treating yourself like a priority. And I'm telling you, not only will you benefit, your children gonna benefit, your spouse gonna benefit, everybody around you is gonna benefit from a better feeling you. Stop treating you like you're not important. You are important. You do matter. You are important and you do matter. Quit letting people use words like selfish to manipulate. Oh, you just selfish. You mean I want what I want? Yeah. And all I got to do is to stop being selfish, is want what you want more than I want. Well, like, get the fuck out of here. I'll be selfish. You could be doing, have anything you desire, but you're gonna have to start prioritizing your mood. You're gonna have to start prioritizing your mindset. You're gonna have to stop letting other people tell you how to feel. You have to stop letting other people tell you how to think. You'll never be truly successful until you stop giving a damn what other people think about you. Even the people you love, you can love them and still be like, "Yeah, we gonna have to disagree to disagree. I don't love you no less. I just don't agree." Mom, dad, spouse—it don't matter. Like, stop letting other people do your thinking for you. You did not come here for other people to do your thinking for you. You did not beat out 300 million other sperm cells to get here and let other people. Think for you. You did not fertilize an egg and sit in a womb for 9 months and build this body to let other people utilize it for their intentions. Get your own intentions, set your own goals. Stop letting people control you. Stop letting media control you. Stop letting things that you see on TikTok tell you what you want. Sit down and have a conversation with yourself. What do I want? What do I desire? What do I desire? Ask yourself that every day. And when the answer surprises you, because most people don't know what they want. Like when people call me and go, hey man, I'm struggling with procrastination. Let me tell you something. As soon as somebody says something about procrastination, I know that it's one of two problems. Either you don't want it or you don't believe you can have it. Them the only two reasons people procrastinate. They either don't want it or they don't believe that they can have it. They go, but I do want it. You don't want that. You've been programmed to want that. Marketers ran a number on you to tell you you want that. They've used the 5 laws of suggestibility to make you think you want that. What are the 5 laws of suggestibility? Repetition, repetition, association, law of dominance. They're using these laws to make you think that you want stuff that you don't want. Then you think you broken because you can't motivate yourself to go for it, but you can't motivate yourself to go for it because you don't want it. You don't want it. I used to think I wanted to be booked and busy because I heard other people saying that shit. I got booked and busy. You should have saw how quick I started raising prices and breaking that schedule down. I don't want to talk to all these people. I ain't got nothing left for my kids when I get home. I don't want to be booked and busy, but I heard other people saying it, so it sounded good. I thought I wanted to be booked and busy. What do you want? You got to start sitting down daily, having conversations with yourself. I don't like that. What would I rather have? That is one of my favorite questions. What would I rather I don't care if you want to argue with me. What— now, if I feel like arguing, we could do that. But if I would rather have peace, if I'd rather have quiet, I'm gonna throw some headphones on, I'm gonna go for a run. I'm— what, what do I want? What do I want? Get in the habit of asking yourself that. Realize that just because somebody offered an offense don't mean you got to be offended. My uncle told me when I was three years old, if somebody say that to me, I gotta okay. Okay, little puppet. Stop being a puppet. What do you want out of life? My daddy told me, yeah, yeah, okay, puppet. Ain't nobody gonna control me. You already been controlled, puppet. Stop being a puppet. What do you want? And I'm exaggerating it on purpose. I want you to see how silly it is. If somebody calls me this word, I gotta get offended. Okay, puppet. If so, if this is a circumstance I'm facing, I gotta feel this way. Okay, puppet, stop being a puppet. You're never gonna create the life that you desire by being a puppet. You are a creator. You came here to create. It is in your nature to create. What I need you to stop— start— what I need you to start doing is creating on purpose. And creating on purpose is going to require you to get clear about what you desire. Do you know what you want? Do you know what you desire? Because let me tell you something, you can't get what you want until you know what you want. You cannot hit a target that don't exist. What's the target? What are you aiming for? I need you to have targets in your relationship. I need you to have targets around your money. I need you to have targets with your health. I need you to have targets in your business. You should have several goals in your life. Do you have goals? Like, are they written down? Are they written down on paper where you can see it? You could be, do, and have anything you desire. That's a fucking fact. That's not something I just say because it sounds good. That is a fact. You could be, do, and have anything you desire, but you got to take time to desire. Anxiety is not desire. Fear is not desire. Hating on other people who got it is not desire. Being upset because it's not here yet is not desire. Desire is desire. You could be, do, and have anything you desire, but you got to get clear on what you want and desire it. What does desire look like? The desire looks like getting excited about it and it's not even here yet. Desire looks like daydreaming about it. Desire looks like doing your affirmations, just moving you closer, but actually believing in the affirmations as you say them. The thing about affirmations is if they don't change the way you feel, they not gonna change the way you act. Affirmations don't change at a logical level, they got to change you at an emotional level. You can see this little drawing back here, it's all types of stuff on there. But this bottom portion is the subconscious mind. It's 98% of your thinking potential, and it runs off of feeling and emotion. When you're dealing in logic, you're working with about 2% of your thinking potential. Affirmations is about changing the way you feel. Vision boards is about changing the way you feel. Scripting is about changing the way you feel. Journaling is about changing the way you feel. Manifesting is about changing the way you feel. When you look up the word manifest, it means to make obvious to the eye or the mind. Another definition for manifest is to make readily available to the senses. What's going on, Hayden? What's up, Tanya? You could be, do, and have anything you desire. The only thing stopping you is you. You could be, do, and have anything you desire. The only thing stopping you is you. You could blame it on the economy, but the economy is only stopping you in your imagination. Let me tell you something. The cells in your body, your endocrine system, your nervous system is not responding to reality. It's responding to the story that you tell it about reality. Your mood is not responding to reality. Your mindset is not responding to reality. It's responding to the story that you create up there in that frontal lobe, that big-ass 40% portion of the brain that we have as mammals. Your body is responding to the narrative that you're creating in there. I need you to create a narrative that's going to motivate you. I need you to create a narrative that's going to inspire you. I need you to create a narrative that's gonna get you out of bed in the morning excited to start your day. If Tyler Perry can sit down and write a movie that you know is fake and you can watch it and cry and laugh and get excited, I need you to sit down and create you a narrative that you can put in front of you that's gonna motivate you, inspire you, get you off the couch and get you started. You could be doing half anything you desire, but you gotta start talking different. You like, you say things to yourself that you would never let anybody else say to you. You do things to yourself that you would never tolerate from anybody else. I need you to start taking you serious. Do that for yourself. Do that for yourself. Bet on you. Get in the habit of betting on you. You, you ain't got to start big. Start small. Start small. Just get through the day betting on yourself. Start taking stuff one day at a time. When I used to work with a lot of smokers, I would tell them all the time, listen, I don't need you to stop smoking for the rest of your life. I need you to stop smoking For the next hour. Then I need you to do it again for the next hour. I need— I just need you to keep getting through the hour as a nonsmoker. You do that, you do that a couple times, and then you'll stop eventually. Stop counting. It'll just be the new you. Stop trying to build a house. Lay the bricks. Lay the bricks. In the Dreams in Action community, we have a lot of challenges. We have a lot of courses. They don't even like see the genius of what we doing, but what we do, we teach you how to build the businesses in increments. I'm not going to sit down and say, this is how you build a business. Do this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this. I'm gonna overwhelm you. I'm gonna say, okay, hey, this week, y'all, we gonna be working on figuring out our target audience, figuring out who are we talking to, where do they hang out, and what's the biggest problem they have. People going, well, I'm trying to get some sales, I'm trying to get some, I'm trying— listen, if you don't do this, you ain't got to worry about getting no sales. Figure out who you talking to, figure out where they hang out, figure out what's the biggest problem they have. Then the next challenge would be around designing a product that solves this problem. Then the next challenge would be around developing a value ladder. What do they get after this? Then the next challenge would be around building a landing page. But every challenge is in pieces. Stop trying to eat the whole elephant at one time. Eat it a bite at a time. And you ain't got to be in a rush because guess what? Once you get that thing that you desire, you're gonna give birth to another desire. Once you get that thing that you desire, you're just gonna give birth to another one. Enjoy the journey and handle what's in front of you to the best of your ability. Enjoy the journey and handle what's in front of you to the best of your ability. Get in the habit of putting your undivided attention on what's in front of you. Stop worrying about step 20 when you on step 3, because there's some stuff you're gonna learn on step 4, some stuff you're gonna learn on step 5, and some stuff you're gonna learn on step 6, and some stuff you're gonna learn on step 7 that although step 10 seems scary right now, no lessons you learn on all those other steps, step 10 not gonna feel that big by the time you ready and actually own step 10. From step 3, step 10 is scary, but from step 9, you looking at step 10 like just the next natural thing that needs to be done. You could be doing half anything that you desire. Understand that growth is a natural human phenomenon. You came here to grow. You came here to grow. That's what you're here for. You came here to give birth to desires and accomplish them. You came here to create. You came here to discover. You came here to expand. You came here to become more. But it's going to take you making a decision. If you haven't already, I need you to decide right here in this moment that those things that I desire, that's, that's for me. And this version of me right here is going to start moving toward that because I could be doing half anything I desire. I say that over and over again because I really want to get it locked in your psyche. I really want to get it locked in your psyche that there's no such thing as failure. It's only feedback. That stuff that people call failure, that's just information. It's just telling me the adjustments I need to make. Analyze the failure not from an emotional place, from a logical place. Learn from the failure. Evolve from the failure. Data is important. Failure is just data. Take the data, keep moving. Failure is not a sign to quit. It's a sign to adjust. It's a sign to evolve. It's a sign to regroup. It's a sign that I need to do some more learning in the area. But what it's not is a sign to give up. Like, running a business is not like a football game. A football game got a clock, and when the clock hits zero, the game is over. But it's no clock in business out, man. I feel like shit. Oh well, we we edit again tomorrow. It's no the game didn't end. It's not over until you say it's over. Stop giving up on yourself. I was telling them in the live the other day. This lady was telling me. She said, "I'm tired of starting over." I said, "Well, shit! Quit quitting." If you you keep starting over because you quit, you keep quitting. If you stop quitting, you can stop starting over. How many of y'all tired of starting over? How many of y'all start tired of picking up some momentum, losing all momentum, and having to start over? Stop quitting. Stop giving up on yourself. You could do that shit. You could do that shit. If you could desire it, you could do it. But you got to keep desiring it. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. If you're gonna give up something, give up hating on other people. If you're gonna give up something, give up being another business. But you can't afford to give up on you. You can't afford to give up on you. You could do it if you just start using your imagination on purpose. You could do it. You just got to start using your imagination on purpose. If you start using your imagination on purpose, you'll succeed on accident. If you start thinking on purpose, you will succeed on accident. If you start focusing on purpose, you will succeed on accident. I'm telling you, the way that I use my mind, I don't use willpower to get out of bed in the morning. If anything, I use willpower to stay in bed just a little bit longer. But the way that I use my mind, I gotta get up in the morning because the stuff I went to bed thinking about last night, my body, every cell of my body like, yo, last night you was thinking, you was thinking about doing, redoing the website. You was thinking about going live. You was thinking about making this play. My body wake me up like, hey, we got stuff to do. I'm like, man, got my first meeting till noon. I can lay here a little bit longer. But the way I was using my mind, my body like, no sir, this is not what we talked about. This is not what we discussed. Let's go. But when you go to bed thinking about what you don't want, when you go to bed wrapped up in what you hate, of course you don't want to get out of bed in the morning. Look how you was using your mind the night before. You was telling your body this story about gotta do this tomorrow. This tomorrow, and I don't want to do this. But if you go to bed— listen, you can have 10 things that you don't want to do the next day, but you can find 1 or 2 things that you excited about the next day. Fall asleep thinking about those 1 or 2 things. Don't fall asleep thinking about the 10 things that you don't want to do. Fall asleep thinking about that 1 thing that you excited about. And it ain't got to be nothing big. It could be something simple as going to get you a cup of coffee. It could be something as simple as listening to a song that you really like on their way to that job you can't stand. You gotta understand, the brain is not emotional. The brain— we're talking about electricity moving through. You add the emotion. It don't take much to excite the brain. You just gotta focus it. Stop falling asleep thinking about stuff that you don't like. Neville Goddard got a book called Feeling Is the Secret. And he talks about in that book, one of the strategies he talks about in that book is falling asleep on purpose, using that time as you sleep. Because what you got to realize is, so you got the conscious mind up here and you got this subconscious mind down here. The subconscious mind is your feminine mind. This conscious mind is your masculine mind. When you go to sleep, this critical mind that usually separates them, it dissolves. And what happens is the conscious mind and the subconscious mind, essentially they have sex. And the conscious mind impregnates the subconscious mind. So when you fall asleep thinking about what you don't want, when you fall asleep thinking about the stuff that you hate, what you're doing is hypnotizing yourself. Because when I hypnotize somebody, what I really do is I get rid of their critical mind, bypass the critical mind, erase that. And then the thoughts that I'm passing through here, this is in what we call obedience. So those thoughts drop Directly down in here and create what we call associations. So when you go to sleep thinking about what you don't want, what's happening is you using your logic, your reason, and your analysis to go. I really can't stand this job. They don't pay me enough. They get on my nerves. My coworker's lazy. I'm really the one saving everybody. Yada yada ya yada yada ya yada yada ya yada yada ya. Oh well, let me go to sleep. So what happens is this drops down into here, and you got to understand we talking about the feminine mind. So the thing about the feminine mind is it's going to multiply whatever you give it. If you give the feminine mind an ounce of doubt, it's gonna hand you back gallons of doubt. So you hand the subconscious mind these negative associations with your job, you wake up from 8 hours of sleep and wonder why you're still tired. Well, the subconscious mind was chewing on this negativity all night. Okay, so what you should be doing is every night you should be handing the subconscious— look, you should be handing the subconscious mind A picture of what you would like to have. You should be falling asleep imagining yourself as you would like to be. Think about it. You guys remember when you were kids, first day of school, you got that new outfit laid out, you got them new shoes laid out, you ain't seen your friends in about two months. You you finna get ready to go to school when you excited to go to school. But the reason you excited to go to school is because you telling yourself a positive. Story around school, but a few weeks pass. You done wore all the new outfits. The real work done started. You got homework to do. You got tests coming up now. Same school, same teachers. You going to hang out with the same people, but the night before you go to school, you going, "Damn, I got a test that I ain't studied for. I ain't trying to wake up early, man. I don't want to go to school, man. I can't wait to graduate, man, man, man, man, man." Now your alarm clock go off and you wake up, same bed, same amount of sleep, getting ready to go to the same school, but a different story. It's going to create a different mood in your body. You ever woke up on the day when you got a vacation planned? You're getting ready to head to the airport. You got it. You got a 4 AM flight. You wake up at 3 AM, probably didn't go to bed till 9, 10. You're running off 4, 5 hours of sleep. That alarm go off. You've been telling yourself this story around this vacation. You've been telling yourself for positive story around this vacation. Running off 4 hours of sleep, you're gonna jump your ass off that bed, out that bed, and get to the airport. Or you ever woke up, usually you tired, you gotta stretch, and you got to do all of this, but you look at that clock and realize it's an hour later than it needs to be, and all of a sudden you jump up. You, you, you like skip the— you ever skip the time? You're like, I ain't got time to be tired. You shot, you shot a bunch of associations down here like, yo, we gotta go right now. Don't got time to be tired. You skip straight, skip over the tired part. You wide awake in an instant. New story changes everything. You change this story, you change your life. You change this story, you change your life. I need you to start telling a story that don't even exist out there yet. What's up? What's that? Hmm. Oh, I need you to tell a story that's gonna put you in a mood that's gonna allow you to change your life. I need you to tell a story that's gonna put you in the energy that's gonna change your life. I need you to stop looking at the empty bank account. I need you to stop looking at the number on the scale that you don't like. I need you to stop focusing on the shit at the job that you don't like. You already know it's there. You already studied it. You already know what Inside and out, it ain't nothing else there for you to discover. You done discovered everything there that's to be discovered. I need you to start getting crystal clear on what you'd like to have so you can start holding the image of it up here so that the conscious mind can start passing it down to the subconscious mind so that the subconscious mind can pass it down into your heart. If you missed our live last night, you missed a good one. The replays are in my— the link in my bio though. If you go to the podcast, you can get all the replays. But is this making sense? You could be doing— have anything you desire, but you got to start thinking on purpose. You got to stop just thinking any and everything. You got to stop putting your attention on any and everything. You got to start focusing on purpose. You got to stop giving your attention to what you don't want, because where attention goes, energy flows. That's really the magic of what we do in a hypnosis session. I get you focused on what you want for an hour. As I get you focused on what you want for an hour, you gonna start feeling different. When you feel different, you ain't got no choice but to think different. When you feeling and thinking different, you will act different on accident. But what people try to do is they try to sit in the same old shitty mood. They try to sit in the same shitty thinking and try to do something different. That's not how it works. I need you to change the way you think so you can change the way you feel so you can change the way you act. Your imagination is your superpower. I need you to start using your superpower on purpose. But it's really a double-edged sword. Your imagination can make you anxious. Your imagination can make you confident. Your imagination can make you depressed. Your imagination can make you feel like the most capable person in the world. I need you to start using your imagination on purpose. Look around. Look around, take everything in, notice everything around you, and understand that everything that you lay your eyes on was a thought before it was a thing. Everything that you can see, everything around you was a thought before it was a thing. This marker was a thought before it was a marker. This hat was an idea before it was a hat. This iPhone was an idea before it was an iPhone. This app called TikTok was an idea before it was an app. App called TikTok. It's an idea that somebody sat with long enough for the idea to pick up traction. And good ideas give birth to other good ideas, they give birth to other good ideas, they give birth to other good ideas. And eventually you got so many good ideas rumbling together and shaking up in here that it kicks you into action. Like, guys, in the success strategy that I teach to high performers, entrepreneurs, and athletes Action is step four, because I know if we take care of those first three steps, the action will man. It'll be something that you want to do. A lot of people try to start with action and they screw theyself up. A lot of people try to start with action. Listen, you got to hold it in your mind before you can hold it in your hands. If you can't hold it in your mind, you will never hold it in your hands. If you can't get an image of it in here. You can't even recognize it out there. Think about it. Think about somebody you know in your life. How do you recognize them? Hmm? When you see them, how do you know it's them? How do you know? Oh, that's my mom. Oh, that's my sister. Oh, that's my girlfriend. You got an internal representation of that person, right? Now, if you lose that internal representation of that person. You can be standing right beside them and wouldn't even know it was them. I need you to get an internal representation of the money you desire. So when you standing next to an opportunity that puts you closer to it, you can go, oh, that's the next logical step to this money that I've been talking about. But when you got the— you know, most people— I ain't gonna say most— a lot of people only have an internal representation of what they don't So they can go, see, I told you. See, I told you. See, I told you it wasn't gonna work. See, I knew that was gonna happen. See, that's the internal representation that you're holding near and dear to your heart. So that's the— what your reticular activation system is pulling into your awareness. But when you get crystal clear about the money you desire to make, about the business you desire to run, about the lifestyle you desire to operate in, and you start holding it front and center of your focus Things start getting pulled into your awareness that they've been there the entire time, but from that old wheel focus, they were invisible to you. They were invisible to you. But when you start using your mind on purpose, when you start like just thinking about, hey, where my attention goes, my energy flows. I, I don't want to put my attention on that. I don't want that. I would rather have this. And you start thinking that way on purpose, you'll start moving towards Jay, it can't be that easy, man. Try it out. Try it out. Try it out. Try it out. You looking for a magic wand? I done gave you the magic wand. The magic wand is to start using your mind on purpose. That's the magic pill. That's the magic pill you've been looking for. Start using your mind on purpose. Get clear about what you want. Stop talking about— That's the magic pill you've been looking for. Start using your mind on purpose. Get clear about what you want. Stop talking about what you don't. Start wrapping yourself in what you'd rather have, and good ideas gonna start showing up. New circumstances gonna start presenting theyself. New people gonna start falling into your life. Money gonna start showing up. Opportunities gonna start showing up. Customers gonna start showing up. But you could be standing in the right opportunity with the wrong mindset, and you gonna screw it up. You gonna say the wrong thing. Stop trying to convince other people to believe in you. I need you to put all of your effort into believing in yourself. It don't matter if I believe in you if you don't believe in you. It don't matter if your partner believe in you if you don't believe in you. I need you to believe in you. When you start believing in you, your life gonna start moving different. When you start believing in you, you're gonna start entertaining ideas that you used to not entertain. You're gonna start dreaming bigger than you used to dream. You didn't let— think about how many good ideas you didn't let go. I know you had some good ideas. Then maybe a year or two later you see somebody else doing it, you go, man, I thought of that 2 years ago. Think about how many ideas you didn't gave away. Think about how much money you didn't just gave away because you refuse to sit with an idea. You better start sitting with your ideas. Let me tell you something, like, if you— so you gotta understand, you are a creator, and creators create. You create on accident. And you create on the direction of your focus. I don't care if you don't know the whole plan yet, just keep entertaining the piece that you got and the rest of it gonna show up. Think about it, you didn't ask for the piece that you got, it just popped into your head one day. You just had an aha moment. If you just sit with the aha moment, the aha moment is going to attract another aha moment, and then that's going to attract another. Just sit with it. I ain't saying you got to go build it right now. Just sit with it. Just keep thinking about it. Like, what happened is you get a good idea, you go, man, that's a good idea. Too bad we in this economy, because in a good economy that would work. And then, like, you didn't— you didn't gave birth to the idea and start focusing on all the reasons that it never happened. So now you still manifesting, but now you manifesting what you don't want. Sit with the idea. Man, that's a good idea. Dang, that's a good idea. That'd be crazy if I could do that. What would that look like? Hmm. Just sit with it. Take you five or ten minutes every day to close your eyes, relax, and just sit with it and watch how the idea will build itself out. Try it out next time you get a good idea. Don't instantly go, man, too bad. That'll never sit with the idea. Start taking time every day to sit with the idea. Notice I didn't say take time to think and try to figure out the rest. Just sit with the idea. Just meditate on the idea and watch how the other pieces of the idea start showing up. I didn't create I Coach Bosses; it found me. I didn't create I Coach Coaches; it found me. I didn't create Dreams in Action; it found me. You know why it found me? Because I make time for good ideas to find me. I make time to sit down, close my eyes, and relax. They go, what you doing? Nothing. What you mean you doing nothing? What you thinking about? Nothing. You got to be thinking about something. I'm thinking about— stop talking so I can think about nothing. That's like, let me think about nothing. I'm making time to— because I realize I am a creator, and if I stop stressing, if I quit focusing, if I just go to neutral, I'm going to create from there because that's what God created me to do. Where my acorn at? I got an acorn around here somewhere. It didn't— it didn't roll off somewhere. But you got to understand, inside of that acorn is an entire oak tree. It don't got a bed to become an oak tree. It don't got a hope to become an oak tree. It don't gotta pray to become an oak tree. God put the oak tree inside of the acorn, so it's in that acorn's nature to become an oak tree. God created me in his image. That mean he put creativity inside of me. He put ideas inside of me. It's in my nature to create. If I could just stop worrying, if I could just stop being distracted, if I could just get to a place of neutral, guess what's gonna happen? I'mma do what's in my nature. I want you to stop using your superpower to create anxiety. I promise you that anxiety not just showing up, it's some ideas that you sitting with that's bringing that anxiety into fruition. Depression doesn't just show up, it's some ideas that you're sitting with that's causing this to brew. Okay, procrastination don't just happen, it's some stuff that you sitting with that's causing you to procrastinate. But confidence don't just happen. Confidence is the result of you sitting with some ideas that inspire you. Confidence is the result of you making lots of associations in your subconscious around things that make you feel good. Guys, we talk about the same thing every day because it's true. Think about it. When you watch a sad movie, you don't got to try to feel sad. Just watch the movie. If you watch an action movie, you don't got to try to get excited. Just watch the movie. If you watch a scary movie, you don't got to try to feel scared. Just watch the movie. If you get clear about what you want and just start thinking about If you just start putting your mind on what you desire and start thinking— I ain't say trying to figure it out, I say just start thinking about it. You know, you won't have to try to feel inspired, you won't have to try to feel motivated, you won't have to try to feel creative. Like, people go, man, I, I can't get into my creative zone, I'm having a state. You don't get into the creative zone. What you do is you stop worrying, you relax, and you be yourself, and that's when the creativity is going to flow. When you trying to make yourself be creative, what you're gonna run into is what we call the law of reverse action. You are a creator. You don't have to try to create. You just gotta focus in a direction, and in your nature, create— creation is going to start flowing through you. You don't got to try to be creative even more than an acorn has to try to become an oak tree. It ain't got to try, just got to put itself in the right environment. Now think about it. You can put an acorn on your kitchen counter and it's not gonna grow. You could plant an acorn in the desert, in the sand, and it's not gonna grow because that's not the environment that it's supposed to grow in. If you just get yourself in the right environment— and I'm not talking a physical environment, I'm talking the right mental environment— if you just get yourself in the right environment, you're going to create because that's what God created you to do. Okay. It's in your nature to create, but I need you to get clear about what you want so you can start creating on purpose. Because you create, you don't have a choice in creation. You're going to create, like it or love it. Look around, you created that. Your life, you created that. And that's good news, because if you don't like it, I mean, you just gotta go create something else. But I need you to stop getting hypnotized by what you don't like. I need you to stop getting on the phone talking about what you don't like. I need you to stop getting on the internet watching skits about what you don't like. I need you to stop reading books about what you don't like. I need you to stop joining clubs with other people to talk about shit that y'all don't like. I need you to start asking the magic question. What would I rather have? What would I rather have? I don't like the way this person is treating me. I feel disrespected. I feel devalued. I feel like I'm not important in their life. What I would rather have is a situation where I feel respected. I'd rather be in a situation where I feel like my words matter. I want to feel like I'm a part of a team. I want to feel like I got somebody who got my back no matter what. I want to feel like I got somebody who, even when they mad at me, they still got my back, they still got my best interest at heart. That's what I want. I deserve it. Now let me tell you what's gonna happen as you just start describing what you want. It's gonna start changing you internally. It's gonna start rewiring your brain. The subconscious don't care about good and bad. The subconscious responds to familiar and unfamiliar. If it's familiar, bring it here, even if it's bad for me. If it's familiar, bring it here. If it's unfamiliar, push it away. So by describing what you want, what you're doing is you're making it familiar to your subconscious mind. You're making associations around it in your subconscious mind. You got to realize there's no law of exclusion. There's only a law of attraction. So you got to realize, when we talking about attraction, when we talking about creation, when we talking about manifesting, to say I really, really, really, really, really, really, really want that is also the same thing as saying I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really don't want that. The subconscious mind does not negate information. So really wanting something and really not wanting something means the same thing as far as the subconscious mind is concerned. You got to realize it's nuances when you're manifesting. Not wanting to lose is not the same thing as having a burning desire to win. You see what I'm saying? Not wanting to be poor is not the same thing as having a burning desire to be rich. Not wanting to be fat is not the same thing as wanting to have a lean, trim, energetic, healthy body. So a lot of people do their affirmations and their vision boards and all of this stuff from under the influence of what they don't want. You got to understand, you don't even got access to your best ideas until you get under the influence of what you would like to have. When you under the influence of what you don't want, you only thinking it like— so you got this thing in your mind called a critical faculty. This is the critical mind. And the critical mind separates the conscious mind from the subconscious mind. And what this critical mind does is it does 3 things. It generalizes, it distorts, and it deletes. So if your critical mind has been programmed to believe that there are no good men in the world, all, all men are dogs, and ain't no good men in the world, the critical mind is going to defend that belief. It's going to generalize, it's going to distort, and it's going to delete. The first thing it's going to do is it's going to generalize all men. He got a beard, he stand up to pee, if he, he's a male, he got that Y chromosome, not good. That's a generalization. Think second thing he's gonna start doing is he's gonna delete him. They're gonna go, well, what about Charles? Charles is handsome, he likes you, he makes good money. Oh, Charles is like a brother. You're gonna delete Charles. He's invisible because he doesn't fit into the belief. Charles is a— Charles don't count. What you mean he don't count? He real, he right there. But nah, he like a brother, he don't count. And you're gonna distort. What about that one guy you was talking to? Y'all were really hitting it off. Yeah, but Nah, that, that was too good to be true. What was too good to be true about it? I just— he— nobody's that nice. He's up to something. This critical mind is gonna generalize, it's gonna distort, it's gonna delete me. Okay, so when you got this thing going, I don't want to be poor, every idea that you have has to pass through the filter of poor. Does that make sense? Even your good ideas got to pass through the filter of poor. The subconscious mind not gonna negate information. Okay, watch this. Whatever you do, don't think about a pink elephant. Whatever you do, guys, look, don't think about a pink elephant. Stop. Stop thinking about the pink elephant. You ever broke up with somebody and tried not to think about them? Don't, don't think about them. Don't call them. Don't call them. Don't call them. You got to stop telling yourself what not to do and start telling yourself what to do. And as you get in the habit of telling yourself what to do, what you're doing is you're making new associations down here. You're making new positive associations around the area of what you want. Now, one association ain't gonna change much. 2 associations ain't gonna change much. But you get a big bundle of those associations, what's gonna happen is it's gonna be familiar to you. And now the critical mind is still gonna be generalized, distorting, and deleting, but it's gonna be doing it in defense of what you want. So the way my critical mind is set up, I believe I'm one of the dopest speakers in the world. I can step on the stage before or after anybody and do what I do. So my critical mind is gonna generalize, distort, and delete to defend that belief. So if I'm on a stage and people start booing, guess what my critical mind gonna say? Yo, they must just can't keep up. They just weren't ready for this message. I coach bosses. Clearly they not that. My critical mind still gonna generalize, distort, and delete, but it's gonna generalize, distort, and delete based on my programming. And we program on purpose over here. What, what is— what are the useful things that I need to believe about myself? Let's purposely build those associations. So when I go out in the world, my critical mind is still generalizing, distorting, and deleting. But it's generalizing, distorting, and deleting in defense of thoughts that I chose. Stop being a puppet on the screen. Stop letting people move you like levers. If I push this button, they gonna respond this way. If I say— if I call them this, he gonna respond like this. But if I cut him this compliment, he gonna— Stop letting people control you. I need you to start thinking and responding on purpose. Is this making sense? Any questions at all about anything we talking about? Any questions at all? Anybody that's interested in working with me on a one-on-one basis, I need you to go to iCoachBosses.com, fill out an application. We could talk about what that looks like. iCoachBosses.com. Hear me when I say this: you could be doing half anything you desire. You got to take you serious. You gotta hold you accountable, and you gotta learn how to practice when nobody is watching. You gotta learn how to work on that thing when nobody's watching. You gotta learn how to motivate you. People are finicky. If you waiting on people to buy in before you get excited about what you got going on, man, listen, you ain't never gonna get that shit up off the ground. But if you could be excited by yourself for about a year— sometimes it won't even take a year— if you could just get excited for about a year, push yourself for about a year, start working on that thing, You gonna build something that they gonna be excited about. A lot of times people gotta see it before they believe it. Go out and create some stuff they can see. Sometimes they're not gonna get excited until that, but don't, don't let them not being excited stop you. You got some ideas inside of you, you got some desires inside of you, and those desires didn't come from nowhere. Those desires came from an inner knowing that, you know, I can have that, that's for me. Any desire that you got that came from somewhere inside of you that knows that you can have it. So if you can desire it, you can have it. It's not a desire you can give birth to that you're not capable of bringing into existence, unless you just can't. If you can't hold it in here, you can't hold it out there. Start with holding it in here. If you learn how to hold it in here, I'm telling you, you will trip and stumble and get it out there. If you could just get a clear image of it in your head and start sitting with that image. And listen, this is the crazy part. Let me try not to get, get banned because every time I— never mind, we ain't gonna go down that road. Y'all gotta join the zones. Y'all gotta join the communities where I can say whatever I want to say. But you are a creator, okay? You are a creator. It's time for you to start living on purpose. It's time for you to get in the habit of telling your thoughts what to think, telling your feelings how to feel. You might say, Jay, that's not possible. It's very possible, okay? You got to get in the habit of telling your thoughts what to think and telling your feelings what to feel. You could be, do, and have anything you desire, but you got to take time to desire it. You gotta bet on you. You gotta stop giving up on yourself. You tired of starting over? Stop quitting. If you just stop quitting, you'll never have to start over again. And realize there's a difference between taking a break to get this together and quitting. Now, I didn't say you couldn't take a break. I said stop quitting. Stop quitting. Be intentional. Bet on you. Bet on you. Now is the time. They say the best time to plant an oak tree was 100 years ago, but the second best time is right now. Plant the seed, leave the seed in the ground. Understand that when you plant that seed, that's the seed. The seed is your desire. I need you to understand, when you plant that desire, it's going to grow down before it grows up, okay? It's going to develop the roots And it's crazy because when you look at the neurology of your brain, when you look at the neural pathways of your brain, they look a lot like these roots. When you look at those connectors in the mind, in the brain, it looks a lot like these roots. It's going— it's gonna have to change your brain before it changes your life. So sit with the desire. It's gonna start changing you in here before it starts changing out there. Okay, so just because you don't see it going up yet, I need you to know that inside of you That desire is working on you, and once it gets the root system developed, then it's gonna start growing up. Okay, I need y'all to understand that the only difference between the acorn and the oak tree is time. The acorn is the oak tree. The desire for money is the money. The desire for love is the love, but you gotta put the seed in the ground and leave it in there and understand it's gonna start changing you internally before it starts to change you externally. Everything is built from the inside out. Nothing is built from the outside in. It would collapse on itself if it was built from the outside in. Oh wow, it's 10:29. I got a 10:30, guys. I gotta go. Anybody who interested in working with me, anybody who interested in jumping on a strategy call with me, iCoachBosses.com. Fill out the application, apply for a strategy call. Let's go, guys.
