Forget the pitch. Listen first. Ask real questions to understand what the prospect actually needs, confirm your product fits, then sell. Trust comes before the close.

Your desire when you get the right person on the phone should be to connect with them and learn as much as you can. The first thing that you should want to do when you get someone on the phone is listen. Ask questions that make sense for you to genuinely learn if your product or service is the right fit for them, and a genuine dialogue comes from putting your product and what you want to sell aside and instead leaning into building a relationship and really learning what their needs are. Once you understand those things, you can make a determination if you have something that can help or continue their success, and only then is it time for you to step in and start selling your product.
