Three speakers argue that sales tactics fail in dating. A pickup line like "Sup, baby girl?" is generic and outcome-driven, but real connection needs casual conversation about shoes or clothes, not a transactional pitch. Detach from the goal of picking someone up and stay confident even if you end up friends.
Sup, baby girl?
Sorry, I'm not interested. I have a boyfriend.
Oh, that's not a problem. Just. You're aware. I'm not quite even sure if I could help you yet.
I love this Brian. Brian used to work for us as one of our salespeople. So I'm assuming Brian knows that none of what he's saying here would work here because you're trying to take a square here and plug it into a round hole. It's not going to work in this dynamic. It's not a sales call. So instead of saying, hey, baby girl, which is probably what a lot of guys would do, you sound like everybody else. Instead of, like, acting like you're after them with that type of comment, you want to detach yourself. And I've been out of the game for so long. I'm just trying to give you some psychological tips, and you want to make them feel like you don't really care. Like maybe they're just your friend or something like that because that raises your status. You might walk by and notice something on them. Like, oh, hey, what type of shoes are those? Those are actually different. I've never seen those shoes. Just odd. Okay? Just different. Like, hey, I like your. I like the pants you have on there. Like, where did you actually get those at? I'm looking for a pair for my sister. Like a normal conversation. Like, you don't need them. Like, you're not trying to pick them up like all these guys do at these clubs and everything. Everybody sounds the same. They are attached to the outcome of trying to pick them up. You want to detach yourself from that and act like you don't necessarily need them. And almost you're willing to even put them in the friend zone because you have lots of options now.
There's a lot more to that. I think this
is funny as hell. Yeah. Maybe we need to build a d dating course. You know, maybe in 20 or 30 years when I. When I retire. But until then, we'll stick with persuasion, influence, and sales, which dating really is. You just got to learn how to do it the right way.
