Short advice segment for people new to sales: the speaker recommends focusing on how you sell rather than what you sell, and strongly suggests starting with door-to-door sales or cold calling to rapidly build resilient skills (quick responses, reframing, handling rejection). The rationale is that learning under high-resistance conditions makes subsequent inbound or warmer-lead selling much easier.

Brand new salespeople, like, hey, I'm getting new sales. Like, what should I sell? Like, it's not what you should sell, it's how you should sell. And I'm always going to suggest that you start in door to door sales or cold calling because you have to get really, really good and really quick because a lot's going on in that person's brain because you are a complete stranger interrupting their day and they are trying to get rid of you like very, very quickly in that first couple of minutes. It's like you get really quick in your responses and how to reframe real quick. And so then when you get into like other sales where you're calling like outbound leads that responded to an ad and they know somebody's calling or inbound leads that you meet on zoom, maybe you're selling sass or something. It just makes selling like really, really simple at that point.
