Hey there, it's Brad and welcome back to Bacon Wrap business. This is going to be a fast fun and furious show. Going to be diving into some really advanced Facebook and giveaway strategies and tools that you can use to make this stuff so easy. It's some tools that I use personally and the founder of the company and the strategies I've invited on the show. His name is Wilko decray and we're going to talk to him in just a second. Before I do, I want to get a couple quick announcements out of the way.
First.
First of all, I'm hiring. I'm looking for some marketing interns and I've got a lot of cool things that we're working on. This is an opportunity to work for me as opposed to being a coaching or consulting client. You can actually work with me hands on with a brand new business that's being launched and we can see we can kind of grow this together. You'll learn a lot, potentially earn a lot and we'll see what will happen. But if you are the least bit interested in just seeing more details about this, I'm not going to go into all the details. But if you're looking for for some work or you know somebody who is, send an email to askbradbaconwrappedbusiness.com Also, this episode is proudly sponsored by a company called Trubrain. So I've recently interviewed the founder and lead neuroscientist at Trubrain and Trubrain is a. You may have heard the show on baconratbusiness.com braindrugs but what trubrain is is a nootropic blend and supplement. Now Nootropics are cognitive enhancing smart drugs. They provide focus and energy in a way that's much, much, much, much safer than things like Adderall, Ritalin, Red Bull, et cetera. I've been using nootropics in my diet for the past three years and it's really led to a lot of performance enhancing benefits. If you want more information on this and a discount on Trubrain, you can just either visit baconratbusiness.com braindrugs or look at the the episode here in itunes and you can listen all about it. But also if you go to T r u b R-A-I-N.com and go to order, just enter the coupon code Bacon in the order form and you actually get 25% off from the folks over there. They were really nice enough to give me that and I want to thank them for being a sponsor of the show. So now let me get to the. To the actual guest we've got. So I've already interviewed him. This is a interview introduction after the interview. So I can already tell you that it's going to be amazing and I learned a lot. His name is Wilco Decray and he's over in the Netherlands. Today is actually Christmas Eve as I'm recording this. It'll probably be after the new year when you're listening to it, but Wilco recently released a new software. This is how I discovered Wilco, a new software called Connect Leads, which makes using Facebook lead ads amazingly easy. And if you don't know what those are, then you're gonna really want to pay attention to this because it's something you could and should be using right now. But he also has a couple other softwares that make it very easy to use Facebook advertising in and take the advanced strategies there and make them really simple, as well as the software that he's created called Upviral, which allows you to run these giveaway contests, these viral giveaway, and incentivize contests. He's not just a software founder, though. He also got a great marketing mind because as I purchased it and become a customer, I've been blown away by all of the awesome training videos and strategies and campaigns that he shares about how to use his tools in a way that make them much more effective. I've already started to run some of my own campaigns based off of his strategies, and I've had some great results. So I reached out to him, asked him to be on the show so. So that I could pick his brain about other ways to use it and dive into it and also explain to you what you could be using and should be using. So without any further ado, I'm gonna switch over here to Wilko. Wilko, welcome to the show.
Hey, Brett, thanks for having me. How are you?
Yeah, man, I'm great. And once more, merry Christmas. It's Christmas Eve. It's almost Christmas for you. Where are you at again? Are you in the Netherlands?
I'm in the Netherlands, yep. I'm at home right now. So it's. Yeah, it's all like. It's pretty much Christmas Eve. Like, right after the call, I'll start cook things like that. So that's good.
All right, well, cool. Well, you get to play Santa Claus on this show and you get to deliver some presents to my people in the form of some cool knowledge. So a lot of podcasts and a lot of interviews. Go into this big backstory of. So, you know, wilco, tell me all about your childhood, tell me how you got to this entrepreneurship, et cetera, et cetera.
All right, so yeah, well, I'll keep it short because it's actually pretty long story, but it all started when I was 16 and that's around 13 years ago. So. Yeah, 13 years ago. And I'm pretty sure, you know, like the Matrix, every character has their own sunglasses, right? Like every character, like Neo and all of them. And I was 16 and I was like, I want to have those sunglasses. But they were not for sale here in the Netherlands, but they were in the United States. But obviously the shipment costs were quite high. So I figured I'm just gonna put something online and I'm gonna ask other people to, you know, hey, do you want to order together? You know, you just pay me, I'll then put an order out and I'll get all these sunglasses and I'll just ship them back to you guys, right? So that sounded like I thought, well that's good and maybe I'll get a free sunglass out of it because I had a little bit of a margin, right? So after two months or a month or a month and a half or So, I sold €17,000 worth of sunglasses. And that was not what I expected. And obviously like back then, buying things online wasn't as big as it is today. And my parents are pretty much old fashioned, so I had to explain them. Like, right, people just paid me €17,000 and I'm going to put an order out to some company in the United States that we don't even know for €17,000, right, to get all those sunglasses. But it all went well, although I didn't take into account some taxes and things like that. So I actually didn't make any profit out of it. But it was an amazing lesson just to see the potential of what an online business had. You know, like to get €70,000 in revenue as a 16 year old was this incredible. So in the years after that, I sort of kept doing that. Every summer I kept selling sunglasses and then over time I shifted to other products as well. And they're all tangible, like real products. Like you have to actually pack them in, you have to actually ship them out to all the customers, which after a while just, you know, that wasn't meant for me. Like I was more of the marketing guy who sells them. But I wasn't really enjoying, you know, packing on those things and sending them out. So after a while I sort of shifted to. To just an online business. First of all, I started out doing AdSense and AdWords affiliate marketing, like pretty much what a lot of people have been doing. And all of that was always focused at the Dutch market only. And I think about 4 or 5 ish years ago I switched to English, to the English market, at least the English spoken market, which includes obviously the United States. And that's when everything went even bigger because obviously the market is a lot bigger. So I think that's sort of the real short story of how I got started being an entrepreneur online, I guess.
Nice. So just recently you came off the launch of a brand new software tool that makes it really easy for people to use Facebook ads.
And I'll let you talk. You can explain this a lot better than I can. But the Facebook lead generation ads, especially for mobile advertising, and.
I didn't even mention this in the introduction, but the three pieces of software that I've used of yours, you may have more that I'm not even familiar with, but it's the Connect leads and that's where.
I'll do my best to explain to the audience real quickly. This is where people can integrate the new Facebook lead generation ads into their autoresponder without any hassle. If you've tried to do this, you know that you have to connect to the Facebook API and it's a big pain in the ass and it's no fun. You make it easy. You also make it easy for people to build Facebook custom audiences, which I believe that most of my audience should be familiar with simply from their autoresponder. And by the way, I love that feature. It's been so cool recently that I've been playing with it. And then you've got another one that I've been using called up Viral, which allows you to run these viral contests and giveaways with, with incentivized sharing and points and all of this other stuff. But you just came off the launch of the connect leads 1. You want to tell my audience a little bit more about that and then I want to talk about some of the more some of the other advanced strategies or things that you see that are working in that market and how people can use them.
Yeah, yeah, sure. So basically, as you know, Facebook has a lot of users obviously and a big part of their user base. Like right now it's just over 650 million people. They only use it on their mobile phone. Right. Like there's a big part that use it on their mobile as well as on desktop but there's also a big part that only use it, use Facebook on a mobile phone. And for Facebook that's a problem because there are a lot of advertisers that are having a hard time getting a profit out of those mobile users. Because as I'm sure you'll know, like one of the best ways to convert those people is to get them into your funnel, let them subscribe to your email list, build a relationship and then sell them something, right? But when people are on a mobile device, they're doing stuff like they're in a hurry, they're busy doing whatever. Which means that if they're going to click on your app because the ad seemed interesting right then that doesn't mean that they're actually going to type out their whole name and their whole email address on such a tiny keyboard because they're busy. So they'll just do it later on a desktop, it's much easier. So.
Facebook recognized that as well. And that's why around a month ago or so they released a new feature or new kind of advertisement called Facebook Lead Ads. And this is available to any advertiser on Facebook. And what this ad does is compared to a normal ad where if you would click on it, it will just bring you to the website. And then on your website you could have for example an opt in form or sales page or whatever. What this new ad does is if you click on it, it will automatically open up a pop up inside the actual Facebook ad on your mobile device. So you don't have to wait for a page to load or anything like that. And inside the pop up all your details are already filled out. So your name, your email address, if you want to have your agenda in there or your occupation or relationship status, everything that Facebook has, you can just include it in that form. It's all pre written so the user don't actually have to type it in. All they need to do is just tap on it and their email address is being collected, right? So that's what Facebook recently released. And it's awesome. I mean first, first results that I've been seeing from various people are around like a lot of people are paying around half of what they were paying before. But there's also one big problem and that is let's, let's say you run a Facebook lead ad, right? And you say, hey, click here and you'll, you'll get this ebook for example, or you sign up for the webinar, right? That's, I mean that's one of the common Uses you get, you give them something in return for. For their email address. Right? That's what works best. So let's say you do that and people click on it and they submit their email. You know what happens after they click on that? Nothing. That might sound a bit weird, but here's the thing. Facebook does collect the email address, but they don't send it your way. The only way to get those email addresses is to then log into your Facebook page, go to your Facebook page, and then download a CSV file of all the email addresses that they've collected. Which means that if you want to send out email something to your audience, then you'll have to download that CSV file every single time and then upload it into your autoresponder manually. You'll have to do that for every single one of those ads separately. And when I first tried this feature out, I was like, all right, this is awesome. And then I figured, you know, I'm just going to export that CSV file once a day. So I did that, and I imported into my autoresponder and I got all kinds of replies back from, hey, dude, who are you? Because they already forgotten, but they subscribed to me the day before. I was like, what?
That's a great point.
Yeah. So the only way to make that work is if I would just export and upload it every single hour of the day, which of course is virtually impossible, at least for most people who sleep and all of that. So, yeah, we then started working on a solution which is, like you said, called Connect Leads. And what connect leads does is it actually integrates the Facebook lead ads with your autoresponder, which means that every single time someone subscribes to your Facebook lead ad, Facebook then sends us a message in real time. And we then immediately send it over to any of your autoresponders or email list or, for example, if you're inviting him to the webinar to go to webinar or webinar jam. All the systems are already integrated. So that means that instead of having to download that CSV file every single time now, from now on, if they click on it, the email will go straight into your autoresponder and they will get whatever you promised them right away. And to me, that sounds logical, but.
This is the only way you can actually make use of Facebook lead ads. It's an awesome feature, but without a solution like this, it's going to be really tough to make it work. And with this feature, the results are just incredible. Right? I Think that's like the long version of hey, what does the tool does?
Yeah, I know, but it's great. And what I want people to understand is this is not some hyper advanced strategy that is like oh man, this sounds too advanced for me. No, this is something, you know, order to use one of the best features of Facebook, you just need this. Like there's, I'm recommending guys, I'm not making an affiliate payment, I mean thing off this at all. Go buy this, Go buy this today. If you're Facebook advertising at all. It just makes Facebook work better. Because understand Facebook is not created by marketers, it's by software engineers. And they don't, they aren't thinking ahead like hey, we're making this great feature available. It's going to be a pain in the ass for people to use, but we don't care it's available, right? We'll figure it out as we go. So I mean you found this is also a great example of finding a market opportunity and seizing it right away. I mean Facebook lead ads haven't even been out for that long. How long did it take you to develop and get this software out because you had to be working quick on it.
We did, but we were also sort of lucky that we actually had a big part already working without even realizing it. And the thing is Facebook has an API which is like a kind of system to basically let our software talk with their software, right? Yeah. And they have two types of that, the normal one which everyone can get access to and the ads API access. And that's something that only a few companies have like adespresso and kwaia and a few others. And just a few months prior we've been working on another tool and they granted us access.
To their Facebook ads API platform. So we're working together with Facebook. They have to check everything. It's like a three step process where they basically go through a lot of basis who's working all your numbers and things like that, how does the software work? Is it all compliant?
So we were already working that and a big part of that solution of that tool had an overlap with what this tool is because it's all in the same infrastructure, it's all in the same system. So we had a head start without even realizing it actually. But even so, yeah, we had to work really hard. Obviously like I said, you want to see some market opportunities. So besides that, I was just waiting to get my hands on it myself because I wanted to use those lead ads effectively. Obviously we also wanted to be first to market and to make sure that we wanted to have this out as soon as possible so we didn't stop working every weekend. Everything that we were just working away, testing things out. And to be honest, we could have launched it even earlier. But I like to test it out really, really well. So I invited over a group of beta testers. We just want to make sure it's all perfect before even showing it to the world. I don't want to be someone who just releases software that's not 100% tested. So we decided to give us a month of testing as well. And after that we were ready to roll. And that's when it all went live, just recently.
Nice. I love it. That's, I mean, that's just a great. I just remember seeing when you came out with that thinking, yeah, somebody's jumping on this train is going to make a lot of money by creating that solution. Because I think everybody like myself was out there googling. Is there a way to connect this that's easier? So congrats. Here's where I want to kind of go into some of the.
You know, some of the actual strategies to where for my audience out there who this may, if this is above your head a little bit, if you're not Facebook advertising, well, A, start Facebook advertising and B, if you're not, I mean, go grab the software, go grab the stuff and start to learn. I'm going to now allow you guys to eavesdrop on some conversations I want to have because I want to talk about real use scenarios to, you know, I've been using this stuff and I know that Wilco has and Wilco's been working with, you know, customers of his and you know, probably friends and colleagues who've had a lot of success. So I'm going to start asking some real, you know, real world scenarios, best cases, you know, mistakes to avoid if this is over your head at all. I, you know, first of all, I encourage you to continue to listen because you'll learn something. But number two, just if you like it, go, go grab the software, put it to work, go grab all three of them. You know, the, there's Connect leads, Connect audience. We won't go into terrible detail about what they all are. But Connect audience, as I mentioned before, is just the ability that once you now have these leads, you can also integrate your autoresponder like infusionsoft or getresponse or aweber or whatever and immediately create custom audiences that you can then market to and create lookalike audiences really without ever going into Facebook. And I love that. Love, love, love that aspect. And then upviral, which I mentioned before, allows you to do these viral giveaways and contests where people get extra sharing on social media. And I've tried some of these. But here's where I'm going to start to ask you some questions wilco, just about best practices and mistakes etc. That people might make, including me. So one of them back to the Connect leads version.
One of the things we as e commerce marketers know is that getting somebody to purchase on a mobile phone, that's the holy grail and it's hard to do. And.
I've seen that. I've done a really good job of creating like 35 to 45 cent leads just on one campaign that I just recently ran using a giveaway that you recommended in your course.
But then very few, if any, I think I had like one person actually go through and purchase off their mobile phone and I know that's an issue for a lot of people. So that goes into the power of having really good email copy and making sure that you nurture them and get them back to ideally buy with the web.
But also we don't have to go into all the details because I know in the course you said let's keep this only for Connect leads audiences, but I started to use the hack that you found to make the Facebook lead ads which are only available on mobile phones, also available on desktop. And I seem to have had some success with that one however. So I want to thank you for that strategy. That was great. That was really, really cool. But are there any things that you recommend or that you've seen people do? And I mean it's one thing to build the leads, but then is there anything that kind of comes to mind to help encourage.
Yeah, definitely, consumption. So basically I'll go into a commonly made mistake or at least something that's slightly different from a normal ad. Right? So let's say you're going to create a lead ad. Basically the difference is, let's put it like this, a lot of people have been starting to use a lead ad and they look the exact same, right? So you still have an image, you still have a title, you still have a text. So they look the exact same as a normal ad. So I've seen a lot of people just copy their ad that they already have. And there's a problem with that because with a normal ad you would just. The only thing you're trying to get from you from your audience is to click on it. Because once they click on it on the actual opt in page, that's where you do the rest of the convincing, right? So in the actual ad you're just teasing them a bit. You're just trying to tease them enough so that they will actually click on it. But they don't have to be already convinced that they're going to subscribe right away. Because on the actual opt in page you have more leverage. You can say, hey, maybe a video or whatever, you can do more convincing. And obviously a big part of those people are not going to sign up, but you at least have the opportunity. So the ad is just about getting them to click to your website. But with a Facebook lead ad, they're going to subscribe right away, which makes it way easier, but they're still going to subscribe. Which means that if you're just teasing them a bit and trying to get them to click, they might not be convinced yet that they want to subscribe. So the main thing that needs to be taken into account is that a Facebook lead needs to be more descriptive. And what I mean with that is from within the ad, it needs to be clear what they will get. If you're just going to tease them a bit and try to make them click, then they might not subscribe. But if they know exactly what they will be getting. And like in my ads I made it really clear, you know, I have part of the ad will say something like, hey, if you click here then you will get access to our three part video series about blah blah, blah, you know, devil teach you how this and that. So basically they know exactly what they will be getting before even click on it. And that's really important. The second thing is that I see people do is they talk about technicalities, right? And I think that goes for any kind of ad. They talk about things like maybe something like you could even say like hey, click here to subscribe to our free webinar. But nobody wants to subscribe to a free webinar. I mean they want to join, but that's not the real thing. They want.
They want to have the result of.
Yeah, they want it. Exactly, exactly. So what you want to do is you want to say something like maybe you know how to double the numbers of clients you get every week or what I find, what I always find a really good strategy is basically say something like how to be awesome without something a problem, like how to awesome without suck.
So how to lose weight without dieting.
Yeah. How to double the Number of clients you get every week without being trapped in your business. Something like that. And that sort of distinction between being awesome and like basically the perfect outcome versus the problem that they're having. And that for me always works even best. So I think those are two things to take into account to always try to focus on the end goal. The end goal, what they actually want and if possible even tie in the problem. How to be awesome without the sucking part or how to insert a goal or without insert problem like that. Do that and try to be more descriptive than you usually are so that if somebody sees your ad, they know what they will be getting. You can even for example include an image of your ebook or your cover so that it's clear that they're actually going to get that ebook. For example, if it's an ebook or whatever it is, try to communicate as clear as possible what the end goal is and what they will be getting. Exactly. And that's going to help you a lot to get more results using them.
Right. So now one of the lead ads that I was just using was some success getting these 40 cent leads which I was happy with and that you talked about. And this ties into upviral as well a little bit, but is you doing giveaways. So what I did is there's a coffee mug, I mean you were talking about, I think the Duck Dynasty market, you know, giving away some figurines, just says hey look, I'm giving these away, you know, to all the fans etc, just enter your email to win. And surprisingly like that's all I did is I had this, it was a coffee mug and it was, you know, had the saying on it, it just says hey, if you know, if you love this, whatever we're giving away this free mug, just enter enter below to win. And I was actually surprised I don't have all the stats in front of me, but I was surprised at how many people just clicked that and entered there, you know, and opted in potentially to win the.
Then they went to an upviral page and it asked them to share for more chances to win. And actually on this one I was a little disappointed in the like there were very few shares. But then again this wasn't a real sexy offer that just really I knew going into it that not everybody's going to be dying to share this little coffee mug everywhere. But that also tells me that maybe it wasn't a cool enough mug to, for people to want to share. But that being said with the giveaways, that's a Strategy that I think you've probably used for a while. And I want to continue to use because it's worked really well. I was talking to a friend of mine who is a major T shirt seller, and he says, he goes, you know what? I told him my results. He's like, yeah, I need to do these again, because those always worked really well. He said, I don't know if you have any experience with this. He said, some of the most success I've had in giveaways has been an Amazon gift card. He goes, I've tried to give away the product that they're buying and all this other stuff, but when I use an Amazon gift card, I seem to get a million leads. Have you got experience with that?
I've never tried that. And actually for a reason. And I don't think I'm ever gonna try because I actually disagree a bit on that, actually. Because the way I see it, like, I always try whatever I'm giving away, I always make sure it's really specific towards an audience.
Because that's what I would think.
The way I feel, if it's going to be too generic like money or a gift card, then the only kind of people that you're going to draw are the people who are. Who just want to have that gift card. But it doesn't mean that they are interested in whatever niche you are in. And your end goal is obviously to sell those people whatever you're selling. I mean, maybe toys for dogs or whatever. Like, so you want to appeal the right kind of people. And I rather have half the people, but they're all interested in the niche that I'm in, than just a ton of people. But they're just interested in that Amazon gift card, interested. So that's sort of my opinion on it. And that's why I always go for specific giveaways.
Well, you know that now that he says, sorry to talk over you. Now that. Now that I remember the conversation, I think he actually said he was giving away like the T shirt and I think he was adding the Amazon gift card as a bonus. I take that back. Yeah. So it's like win this t shirt and a 50Amazon gift card or something, I think. So he was using that, not just putting a picture of the gift card up there.
So that sounds like a better idea already.
Yeah, exactly. The other types of giveaways.
Are those primarily the ones that you've used that have worked really well is just find the product those people want and just say, look, opt in here for the giveaway and then ask them to share. I mean, is it really that simple or are there other strategies that have worked really well for you?
Yeah, in a way it's that simple. But obviously you want to make sure, like you said before, it also depends on what you're giving away. First of all, basically my rule of thumb is that it has to be valuable enough that people would be happy to pay for it. I mean, if you, if you're going to give them something and say, hey, if you share with X amount of your friends, for example, then you'll get this or you have a chance of winning this, if they won't be ready to pay for whatever you have to offer, then it means that it's not valuable enough for them. Because basically what people need to understand is if you're asking for someone to share your campaign with their friends, they're making, basically it's a transaction, a social transaction. They're making a payment, just not with money but by sharing. Right. So they'll still feel like if they're making that commitment. So if you're trading that share with their friends in return for something else, if that something else is not valuable enough in their opinion, then they won't be willing to share. So that's like basically the first rule, secondly is that it has to be unique. With unique, I mean, there should be no easier way to get it. I mean, if you're giving away something, hey, you can share this and you'll get this and that, but if they know they will get something similar somewhere else for free or easier, like basically a lower threshold to get it, then they will just go for that way. So that's also one of the reasons why I've seen a lot of success with people who make whatever they're giving away more unique. For example, I've seen people do it with something that's a signed autograph. If someone is famous, they'll do a signed autograph and things like that. And that makes it unique per definition. I mean, there's no way they're going to get the same book somewhere else because this one is signed by the author and that makes it first of all, way more valuable than just the book.
Yeah, exactly.
So those are two things. It has to be valuable.
Perceived as being valuable to that person. And secondly, there should be no easier way to get the same thing. So the easiest way to get that, what they want should be by sharing with their friends, if that makes sense.
Yeah, you know, that's, that's a great, that's a Great point you brought, you bring up a strategy that I was, I was brainstorming with a client of mine and he's in the dating advice niche. So he, you know, he teaches men how to be better with women, et cetera. And he's got high ticket coaching and info products and everything. But one of the big problems with that, one of the big problems with that market with weight loss is, you know, in different ones is Facebook. There's certain things just Facebook, you cannot advertise on Facebook. They're just like, no, like dating advice or you know, weight loss pills or anything that's that they consider just a little too hypey and whatnot. However, we were talking about a strategy. So find something that your target market would like. And it doesn't have to be advice. Right. It doesn't have to be a book on how to do whatever, but it can be something that they would like. Maybe it's a book by a popular author that they would like in the dating advice world. I don't know if you're familiar with Neil Strauss. He's, you know, best selling author, got a lot of fans. Yeah, you can target him, you can target people who like dating advice for the game, but then you can maybe give away a signed copy of Neil's book or assuming you can get that, my client can easily get that. But give away something that your target market would like. And remember it's not, you're not selling day dated advice. It's just, hey, this is a great book. But then only advertise that to your demographic, like 25 to 45 year old single men who like Neil Strauss, who like the game, who like this, that and the other. Then if they're opting in to get something that that target market would like. Now you're on, they're on your email list and you've, I think you've kind of bypassed the Facebook quote quality filter and now you can market to them. So I think it's probably a cool way that certain marketers can, can get Facebook traffic without, you know, kind of in the side door.
Yep. I don't have experience with that, with that niche on Facebook, so I can't comment on that. But that could work.
But yeah, I mean any Facebook, just because the fact that you can, you can dial into your target market, whether it's people who like Jenny Craig and weight loss stuff. And if you've got a weight loss book that Facebook doesn't want you to do, it give away, you know, your supply to a weight loss Shake or something. Anyway, these are just some things that have been going through my mind about how to help my clients clients better as well as how to help the stuff that I'm doing.
When it comes to.
This is one of the other.
Things I like and I want to bring this up. The other cool thing is that when somebody opts in on that giveaway ad, you've got a button that says immediately create an audience in Facebook from the opt ins, right? So somebody sees it on their mobile, they click that, you're creating an audience. And let's just say now you've got a hundred leads that have come in at 40 cents a lead. That's pretty cheap. With one click of a button you can create a custom or I'm sorry, a lookalike audience of those people. Those are really good people. If they're going to see a Facebook lead ad and opt in, those are the kind of people you typically want to create lookalikes of. And you know, because they're clickers and they're opt iners and.
Then you can, you know, create more ads to those kind of people. And I know that lookalike audiences have been some of the most successful things that I've run on Facebook. So I like the fact that that's so easy to create it inside your system.
Awesome, thanks.
Yeah, absolutely. The one of the other questions I want to ask you on the.
I.
Think I want to go on the back to the giveaway and how this works is what's the most, you don't have to name any exact names or any, you know, give away any private stuff. But in general, what's some of the most successful giveaways that you've seen that you've talked to people running like man, these people just absolutely murdered it doing.
Some stuff like this. We have a couple of various customers who done over six figures in leads. So that's not dollar story, that's the amount of leads. So over 100,000 leads and one of them did it in the first month of using viral. So obviously I interviewed him because I've seen a lot of people that went viral using upviral but over 100,000 new subscribers within the first month of trying. I mean that's pretty awesome.
That's amazing.
Yeah, I had him on the call. I actually, I actually put it on the website. If you go to viral.com case studies you'll see it on the website. You'll see.
I may have seen this one.
But yeah, so he shared some really cool tactics but obviously like that's the customer. So I don't want to, I don't want to.
No, we don't have to give it away.
But if I would just be talking about my own campaigns, for example. So for example, one of the things I did was I had a, I had a simple tool that I was planning on selling, but I wasn't, you know, I wasn't really sure. So I figured, you know what, I'm just going to create a simple opt in page and after people opt in, I'm going to say, hey, get five of your friends to sign up and you get free access. Like super simple stuff, right? And it's called tweet lead. You know, if people go. Actually if someone goes to Twitter right now and you just Google for tweet lead or Tweetly IO, I'm betting that you'll still see a lot of people just tweeting about it every single day. Because that's the thing, it's going into a viral loop. So because people are spreading it, they're inviting their friends. Because basically the difference is this. I've been using a lot of so called share to get tools, which means that if you share this, then you will get access to X, Y or Z. But the problem is that you're trading a share and a share on itself is worthless. I mean, that's not the end goal because people just share it once or they share it on a fake account or they delete it right after. But the end goal is to get new people onto your list, right? So once you give them accountability, once you say, hey, if you get five of your friends to sign up, then you will get access to this. And what happens is that people now start sharing it more often. I actually found that for example, with this campaign just on Twitter itself, if they share it, then on average they share it 2.6 times each. Just because, you know, they keep on sharing. And also because using a viral, we're sending them multiple emails. So if one of their friends signs up, they'll get an email automatically saying, hey, congratulations, you now only need four more. So here are the links. Just add their buttons inside the email so they can share right away on Facebook and on Twitter, etc. And because we're keeping track how many of their friends actually subscribe, they'll just keep on sharing until they actually unlock that. So for that particular campaign, I'm actually looking at the stats right now. We, we did over 12,000 leads right now. So that's 280,000 visitors just by people Sharing it with their friends because they.
Want access to the program.
Exactly. And this is like in the Internet marketing niche. And as you know, these like, usually a lead is like between one and two dollars. So 12,000 leads, that's pretty good.
That's really good.
And you were like, we were just talking about Connect Leads and the launch as well. I'm not sure whether you've seen it, but before Connect Leads went live, I just sort of did a pre launch. Have you seen that one? Yeah, yeah. So what I always like to do, and this is more like a common sales strategy as well, right. I drip out three high quality videos beforehand. So I told people, you know, this is what Facebook lead ads are. This is how it works. I shared some strategies and I do that obviously first of all to educate and to build a relationship with my potential customers. And of course the end goal is after the third video is, hey, you know what, I've teached you a lot. But you know what, tomorrow I'm going to release this new tool which is Connect Leads so you can get access here tomorrow. You know, it would be awesome if you, if you can try it out. Now what I did on top of those three videos, I actually created a fourth video. And I like in every one of these three videos I told them, hey, you know what, if you get three of your friends to subscribe, then you will get access to a fourth bonus video.
That we made specially for those that are awesome enough to invite your friends over to these videos as well. Right. And for that pre launch we had obviously a ton of affiliates mailing for that pre launch. But what most people don't know is that most of the traffic came from people sharing it with their friends way more than we got it from, than we got from affiliates. Just because people were like, oh, awesome, I'm getting this free content and if I just get three of my friends to sign up, I'll get another video. And for them there was enough reason to just keep on sharing that. And yeah, so these are some of the results that basically how I'm using viral myself as well in my business now.
I love that, I love that. So yeah, you're keeping the. As opposed to just, yeah, you get them no matter what it's look, share this. If it's useful, share this. You'll get the next piece of content. Well, that way you also know that those people really want the content and they're not just sitting back because once. That's one of the problems when somebody opts in for a three Part video series. Sometimes they don't want.
All three of them or sometimes it's just not interacting. But if you're starting to see that, hey, in order to get video number two, you've got to share video number one.
If people are sharing that, you can start to see that this is obviously people want video number two.
They'Re sharing it. And the same thing on video three, four. So I think that's a good, really, really, really cool strategy that you're using.
So the tweet leads, that's one that people can go. Because I do remember that.
Yeah. If people sign up, they'll see it live in action. And if they share it with five of their friends, they'll get free access as well.
Nice. Are you familiar? Have you ever come across the website growthhackingidea.com I have, but I'm not.
I just came across. But I'm not really sure what they actually do.
So this is, I came across this and I was like, this is actually pretty damn brilliant. Yeah, pretty brilliant. And the stuff he's doing, exact same strategy. Yeah, but, and I'm curious, we don't, we don't have time to go into all of it here, but I'm just curious if. If up viral because I remember seeing this and thinking like, I actually want to do this. If you guys have the ability to do everything he's doing, because it's the long story short, you guys can go to growthhackingidea.com right now and you won't be able to get on the list. He's like, you can't even get on my email list unless somebody else shares their invite with you. So go find one. And he tells you, like, go search Twitter and people, you actually have to go look, talk about a micro commitment. Go look for a link to join the email list. And then he's like, yeah, I'm going to give you one email a day. I'm sorry. Yeah, I'm going to give you one email a day unless you share this with five of your friends. If five of your friends shine up, then not only will you get one email a day, I'll be, I'll give you a access to all the archives as well. And it's just really a smooth, brilliant way that he's done this. And I actually want to try to use up viral to do something very, very similar in a different market. But yeah, I was just curious if you'd seen that in the past or not.
Yeah, I've seen it. It's actually on My list because we want to add some features based on this idea because right now with viral the registration is always open so it's not invite only. That makes sense. So that's one of the things that we're planning on adding later on as well because I was really amazed not just by how this system works but more importantly what kind of results he's been getting. I'm not sure what the numbers were exactly but I seen him showing some figures and it was all over. While I'm watching the page right now is saying that he got close to 24,000 people signed up already without having an opt in page on his page. We haven't been able to subscribe so that, that proves the point right there. So that's one of the things that we're planning on adding on a trial as well.
Nice. And I've spoken to him on email a little bit and I was asking him like okay, because he actually came out with about a $300 program of which was really expensive for what you got by the way. It's like one video talking about the strategy behind what he did. The problem is he didn't talk really about at all any of the technology used to create it. And then I was asking him. He's most of it was custom coded. He didn't even so he didn't have. There is no off the shelf solution that he used to make this easy. So if you wanted to recreate it you'd have to kind of be a programmer or hire one.
So that's the whole goal and point of a viral to make. To make that whole invite based system and that old viral referral system to make it accessible and easy to anyone.
Yeah, it really is. Well man, we are coming up on your, you know, your hard stop point here but. And you've got to go do some Christmas Eve celebrations so man, this has been great though. I really love the tools you've put together. I am actively using them and figuring it out as I go. I'm kind of stumbling around until I get, you know, the sweet spot. But I'm having fun with it. It's a really cool tool that or all three tools that I'm using that just seem to work really, really well together and obviously you know, if you want to just give the URLs that people can go to check them all out. Is it ConnectDo?
Yeah, well it's best to go to ConnectLeads. ConnectLeads IO so that's IO not dot com. Cool. Because that's where you can get access to Connect Leads. Connect Audience is not available to the public right now, but we only made it available to those who purchased Connect Leads. So if you get Connect Leads, you'll. Right after you get the opportunity to purchase Connect Audits before anyone else can. And Upviral is located@upviral.com. you'll get all the details right there.
Yeah, and as I said, I'm a big proponent of them. I think you're doing some awesome stuff. And once more, I look forward to putting these to work even more. And I'll share the results with you if you ever want to. My goal is to be so awesome. You're like, Brad, we got to do a case study with you because you just. 100,000 leads in a day.
I love that.
That would be fun. Well, Wilco, have a. Have a very merry Christmas and enjoy the time with the family. And thanks for stopping by the show today. You shared some great stuff.
No problem. Thanks for having me. And you have a great time at Christmas as well. I hope you get to enjoy time with your friends or family. Not sure what you're plans are, but hope you have a great time. Just a fun fact, by the way, this is like totally random.
Yeah.
Did you know we here in the Netherlands, we have Christmas two days long? No, like, where to go? I think we're the only country. We have like pretty much every holiday, like every Christian holiday, we celebrate it two days. We have like Christmas Eve, then we have first Christmas Day and then we have second Christmas day. That's how we call it.
Really.
Right.
So, okay, so Christmas lasts until like through Saturday for you?
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
That's amazing. I'm jealous. I like that. Now, have you been. But like most entrepreneurs, have you been working all day and knocking stuff out.
That would cause some problems with the girl? Right?
Yeah, exactly. Well, but you know somebody who I also understand you just come off a launch, a big product launch and you know, the one thing you want after a product launch is to be able to take a break because those things can age you by 10 years the way they go.
Yeah, like I'm 100% offline during both Christmas days.
I love it. That's great. Well, I will not keep you any longer from jumping offline and going to. To enjoy it. But look forward to keeping in contact with you by Facebook and email and everything else so I can share my results and keep spreading the good stuff that you're doing.
Thanks, man. I appreciate it a lot. Have a great day.
