Generic opening questions like "How's your day?" and "Where do you live?" signal a sales agenda and put you in the stereotypical salesperson box. Prospects recognize these as insincere, which builds resistance. Skip them to create more authentic engagement.
How's your day going today? How many times do you walk into Best Buy and a salesperson first comes up to you, what's the first words? Hey, how's it going? How's your day? Do you genuinely believe that that person gives a damn about how your day's going? No, you don't. How's the weather? Oh, how's the weather over there? Would that be a predictable question that that prospect is probably used to every salesperson that's ever tried to sell them ask? Yes. Or questions like, where do you live? But I wanna stay away from predictable questions because that causes sales resistance.
