Cameron from Indie Creative does a funny cold-call pitch designed to catch people off guard. The group breaks down why the joke works as a pattern interrupt: it triggers curiosity, hits dopamine, drops people's guard, and makes them actually listen.
Hello?
Hey, it's Cameron from Indie Creative. If I can make you laugh in the first 10 seconds, you'll hear my pitch out.
Okay, let's go.
My girlfriend broke up with me. I stole a wheelchair. Guess who came crawling back.
Who's that?
Okay.
There you go.
That's actually a really good pattern interrupt. It's funny. I'm not sure how well that will work with everyone. It'll work with a few people. They'll laugh and stuff. The biggest point that he did there is when you're using a pattern interrupt, you don't sound like everybody else. So the brain recognizes patterns. Hi, my name is. I'm with xyz. Z Company. Sounds like a telemarketer. So their brain, the prospect's brain, goes into fight or flight mode, survival mode. Like, not interested. He's breaking that pattern because he gets them to laugh. When you laugh, it releases what's called dopamine in the brain. Which does what? Calms your nervous system. Because if their guards down, they become more open, as you know, if the guards up, it's pretty much over. And. Hello? Okay, this is just a different example of a panoruptis. You're going to hear like a familiar tone. James, It's. It's Barry. Barry Miller. I'm on your company website underneath XYZ section. I was wondering if you could possibly help me out for a moment. Sounds like you know me, right? It's that familiar tone and right there, it triggers curiosity. There's so many different pattern interrupts. So I like this one that he did. That's why it worked. I changed a little bit, but I think it was funny and it obviously worked.
