Alright, welcome back to the show. This is Brad Costanzo and you're listening to Bacon Wrapped Business. You should know that because, I mean, you did click the button and download the episode. By the way, one of the things I love about podcasting, as opposed to radio, television, and I guess what you would call old media, is that it's, you know, you have to stumble across it and nobody really knows if you want to listen to it. What I really appreciate about podcast listeners and all of you guys out there is that you're doing it on purpose. Your intention is to spend some time with me and my guests and listen to what we have to talk about. So I very much appreciate you. And if you ever want to get ahold of me, if you ever want to reach out, make any guest suggestions, topic suggestions, or even ask questions about some of the struggles you're having with in business, you can always reach me@askbradaconrappedbusiness.com now, today's episode is going to be an interesting one. I mentioned old media, right? Well, there's podcasting and a lot of the other types of media is oftentimes referred to as new media. And in fact, I was just recently at the New media Summit hosted by Steve Olsher, a close friend of mine, and he had me on a panel identified as an icon of influence, which I have to thank, Steve. I kept my little badge. At least somebody recognizes me as the icon that I think I am. And at the event, I was fortunate to meet in person, somebody I've been Facebook friends with for a while, JV Crum iii. Now, JV is, he's a business coach, he's an entrepreneur, fellow podcaster, and he was also a, a New Media Summit icon of influence. And we got to sit next to each other and actually catch up live and in person. And I got to be on his show. And JV is just a wealth of knowledge. And if you're a coach, if you're a consultant, if you sell professional services, you're going to want to pay very close attention to this episode because there's going to be some really cool strategies that you can put to use. Immediately. Now let me tell you a little bit more about JV Crum iii. So he's known for his live on camera trainings where he creates a breakthrough for coaches and consultants by helping them find $50,000 or more in hidden revenues and develop steps to put them in their bank account. He's named by Inc. Magazine as one of the top 13 business shows to listen to this year in 2017. And he's the host of the syndicated Conscious Millionaire, both radio shows and podcasts. He's also the author of the number one bestseller Conscious Millionaire, Grow your business by making a difference. He holds graduate degrees in three areas, law, business, and psychology. And he has multiple certifications in nlp, which is neuro, linguistic programming, and coaching. So you can tell that I invited no dummy on the show. I invited JV for his wealth and knowledge. And without further ado, jv, welcome to bacon wrap business.
Hey, I've got the bacon on myself. I want to tell you I want to sizzle today. I'm kind of in that mood to sizzle and listen. I want to say hello to you if you're listening to this show. First of all, it shows that you're the smartest one, not Brad and JV because you're smart enough to listen to one of the top podcasts out in the world. So I want to say hi and thanks so much. I'm looking forward to us all having a conversation together.
Yeah, me too. So, jb, it's. It's awesome to have you. It's kind of real fun because, you know, we met. We got to BS at the lunch at the summit, and then I got.
To be on your show, and now.
You'Re on here, and I'm really getting to know you, and we.
BS Is short for bacon sizzling.
Bacon sizzling. Absolutely. It is now. It is now.
So, you know, and we even got to connect last Friday, you know, privately. We didn't record it. We should have recorded it, but you just had some, you know, amazing advice that you were sharing, sharing with me on some of the acquisitions and some of the things that I'm doing, and I was really fascinated. I got your book here. You were kind enough to give it to me at the event. And I kind of been going through it. I can tell you absolutely have a wealth of knowledge. And it's not the repackaged stuff that I see a lot of people who help coaches and consultants grow their business. It's like really actionable things that work not just.
As I said, thank you. I actually rewrote the book a number of times. And then I eventually said, what do I. I've read so many books that, you know, they got great ideas in them, Brad, but I can't do anything at the end of it that I couldn't do at the beginning. And I said, I don't want to put out a book like that. So, you know, 14 chapters at the end of every chapter, all these coaching exercises that really are learning events for you, Help you analyze your business, help you analyze yourself, get strategies for how you can rapidly move forward. They're over a hundred coaching exercises in the book. And it's because I want somebody to take a book. You got a book. I want you to get the book and do something. I mean, it's all about building your business, building your life, making more money. I want to help people become conscious millionaires.
I love it. As an unconscious millionaire or I'm a subconscious millionaire. I don't even know what those mean, but I want to.
But if you're. But if you're a secret millionaire, somehow that means you've got to give it all away on a television show.
That's a fact. So as I mentioned, there's a lot of people out there who coach coaches on how to coach coaches, on coaching coaches. And they've made their money by simply doing that. They have no business experience. They've never run anything. They read an information product.
Right.
We see that all the time. That's not you. You actually come. You've got a wealth of business background, like in the real world. Give us a little bit of background on who JV Crumb, the third. Like what. How. What was your journey up to coaching?
I mean, I want you to know how big. Because I want to impress the hell out of you for listening to this. How big of a business I've run. At the age of four, I had my pup 10 out there with squeezed tangerine juice off of our own family tangerine tree in egg cartons. Selling it. Lucy had nothing on me. I was selling it for a dime. And I think, you know, like, I think every day I was in business, I was raking in close to a dollar. Wow. Rocking and rolling. I want you to know, Brad, I have played big. I have been in the big times. You know, I know what it's like to get out there and build a huge corporation in a pup tent.
I love it. But in all seriousness, like, what was your journey before you became a coach?
What's your.
What's been your business background?
Obviously, after the education Yeah, I obviously did. I did a bunch of that, but none of it was intentional. That's what's so interesting. So, yeah, so, you know, get serious.
Let's have a quote from my book. Because it's the first sentence in the book. And why did I make it the first sentence? Because I read all these reports about how much people don't read in a book. And my book's 320 pages and I know that most people are not going to read past page 18. So I said, well, if they're gonna get the book, I wanna be sure they get value out of it. After all, that's why I wrote the book. So the first sentence, I think is the most important sentence in the book. And that is if you miss your real journey, you miss your real life. And I think that's what life is all about. That we're here on a journey. That there's a journey that's right for us. And it's that deep, authentic connect with ourselves, find out what happens next. Cause the path unfolds. And that's how we connect with our best business opportunities. Cause we're really.
And I think if we miss that, it doesn't really matter what else we accomplish. I think that we've missed the real point.
So let me ask you on that, because this kind of has a lot.
That was a twist, wasn't it?
Yeah, it is, but I, and I like it. But it has a lot to do with, you know, the concept of finding your passion. How do you feel about. Okay, right. Finding your passion or creating your passion?
Yeah, that's a great question. Well, I have a process that I call high impact vision, which I, when I help coaches and consultants and I've worked with a lot of entrepreneurs, you know, really craft their business to get, you know, they want to build seven figure businesses, they really want to do well. I go, well, you've got to have something at the core of it that's more than making money. You've got to have something at the core that's really your driver. So I believe that in every one of us. And I'll just take you through the steps right now to actually prove it, that every one of us has a deep passion within us. And I have a lot of people ask me, they go, jv, what is my passion? I go, well, let's go through the three steps. So let's go through them together. How's that? You're going to want to journal this because as you journal over the next two or three days, you're going to discover a lot about yourself. So here's the three things I have found are true about every person's deep passion. And this is after working with lots of people. So here they are. First, you lose all sense of time when you're involved with this activity, so you really become one with it. You think a half hour passed, but guess what? Four hours are already gone. Which is perfectly fine unless you told your spouse you were meeting them for dinner, in which case you need to take out your phone and set the alarm. But you are going to really become deeply involved in that activity because you just love doing it so much. The second clue is that you do go through a state change. You've probably had people tell you, wow, you look different. And you do look different. Your blood is throwing through your body different. Your musculature is different. There's like this positive, effervescent energy that's coming out of you when you're doing this activity you're so passionate about. And remember, it's an activity. It's not a thought. It's not something you like. It's an activity. And then the third one, and this is almost the joke of it all, because I work with people who want to be millionaires. Right. Is that you've probably done it to help people, even people you barely know, are almost strangers for free, because you really want to go out there and do this activity. You just love it so much, you know, and it can be any area, but that's how you discover what is that deep, natural passion you have inside of yourself. And you might have several passions. It's not like you just have one, but all of them have those same three characteristics.
Okay, I like it.
So.
And that to me. And I've given a lot of thought to this, and I. When I've worked with some clients and this topic has come up where I. And I think a lot of people get they want. They passively just hope that their passion will drop in their lap and they'll find it. I actually do like the fact that you've got a process for discovering what it is, because oftentimes I have a process for everything. That's fantastic. And I. And that's what I invited you on the show, is to share that. Because I know that in the past, I was a victim of that, which was. I was. Everybody had talked about having this passion, and I was like, well, I'm not really passionate about anything. I don't.
I don't.
I don't know. There's Nothing. Nothing comes to mind. Now, granted, I didn't go through any of these steps. I didn't go try to find it, and I just had to pay attention. I kind of had to learn exactly what you're talking about the hard way, which is what really lights me up, what changes my state. What would I do for free? And, you know, I found quite a few of those things, and I'm always finding them. And I'm also finding things and checking them off, like, yeah, that's definitely not it.
I think I found mine through process of elimination.
Definitely. Share, other than being entrepreneurs, because we both love being entrepreneurs, is we're podcasters. I don't know anybody with a successful podcast that isn't in love with podcasting.
Mm, yep, I agree. We. We like to also hear the sound of our own voice. I think we like to. As my mom says, we like to hear our head rattle, but it's really not that. It's. We are curious. We like to share. We like to. We like to learn. We like to share.
We like to talk to people, usually.
Yeah, absolutely.
Now it's fascinating.
Now, that's how you find that. You know, that's how you kind of find your passion, but. Oh, and create your passion. But then. So what's the next step?
So the next step is discovering your purpose. Now, that one is a little bit more obscure, so I'm gonna give you the real answer to how to do it. Because I built these trucking lines that I wasn't very passionate about, although I was very passionate about having a nice home and a Mercedes and a few things like that. But I wasn't passionate about what I was doing, and I didn't think it was what I was supposed to be doing. And so ultimately, I sold it. I went out on a journey to discover what was my purpose. So I read a whole lot of books, which I found to be almost you. Inspirational, but useless because they. They didn't tell me how to find my purpose. They would say things like, when you find your purpose, you'll know it. And I go, well, this is. This is fantastic. I figured that part out already. So when I did discover my purpose, then I started working with a lot of people because, you know, you kind of hit Eureka, and you know that a lot of other people are missing it. And here's what I discovered. I want you to think of purpose as a gold coin. And that gold coin, like all coins, has two sides to it, but it truly is a gold coin, because once you discover a purpose that you're totally passionate about, you are on fire. And you're going to be so much more successful because you're going to pursue that. So this is like having a gold coin in your pocket every day. But on one side is just the word purpose, which frankly, it doesn't help you discover your purpose at all. So. But on the backside is the secret, which I'm going to give you right now, of how you discover your purpose. And here's what I learned. Purpose is always about making a difference for someone or something other than yourself. It might be another person, it might be an organization, might be pets, might be the planet. But it's passionate about, in a way, being of service, of helping, of making a difference for someone else. So when you want to journal that one, you're going to start waking up for two or three days and you're going to go, oh, I'd really like to help these people. Guess what? In business, those can also be called your target markets. Because you really want to be working with a market that you're in love with. Because here's the real deal. Whether you're a coach, a consultant, entrepreneur, business owner, professional, and every day you're in one business and it's this business, it's solving problems. That is the business that you're actually in, because that's all anybody's ever going to pay you for. And you better love the problems of your market or you're going to have one really bad week after another. But if you love those problems, you think these are really exciting problems. And yes, I'd like to wake up and solve them every day. Then you're on an exciting route. So you first need to know the passionate purpose that you're here for, that difference you want to make. And I want to stop here, Brad, because that group of people there are going to be a lot of people who share a similar passionate difference they want to make with their lives. These are your ideal strategic partners because each one of them might do different kinds of problem solving. And I'm going to tell you what that means right now, because the third element is what are your natural strengths? You can think of these. These are the things that we frequently say. This, I could do that in my sleep. Well, guess what, folks? You probably do it in your sleep and you wake up the next morning with answers. So that's the thing that sets you apart right there. It isn't the passionate difference that sets you apart. Lots of people share that with you. It's the combination that you have a strength that you bring in. And so just a simple example, let's say you're great at making websites, but you're lousy at digital marketing. No problem. Because you can partner and your same customers that want to work with you will also want to work with that person who has the digital marketing. And then you're working with the same kind of people who have the same kind of problems. You're just each solving a different aspect of it. And collectively you have a really great group process. And then some people put together organizations that have affiliate relationships with all those people and you may be doing that conscious millionaires about that. And then you can have a one stop shop, but you don't provide. But maybe one or two of the services or products, but you've got a dozen to offer because you've got relationships with other people you're natural partners with.
Yeah, that's a big part of my entire business. And it's actually one of the secrets to me being able to help wide variety of people is because I don't just look at the skill sets that I have, I look at, you know, they've said your network is your net worth. And I look at it like that. It's like, I may not be able to help you, but I got a guy who does well.
Exactly. And those of us who are building and building bigger, most of us are building through leveraging those kinds of relationships. So we don't have to do anything that is not in our wheelhouse. But what we do is we identify and we get good at attracting the people who need our services. And then we can partner with other people who've gotten good at attracting other people. And we can all do business with the same group of people and those people are better off because they've got all the services and products they need.
Exactly, exactly. Now you talk about multiple steps. So I want to jump ahead, I want to jump forward. Because if people want to dive into the finding their purpose and discovering their passion thing like that, they can obviously pick up your book, which is amazing. But leaping forward now, the people who've discovered it, who are coaches, who are consultants, who are making money like this, and you know, quite frankly, coaches and consultants deal with a lot of, a lot of problems and a lot of issues that I know you solve. What do you find is the, when people choose to work with you is some of the biggest problems and stumbling blocks that you help them kind of get over beyond the, you know, beyond little like limiting beliefs and beliefs they can do it like real business.
Issues. Fantastic. Well, there's a long list of these because I've created six steps that I call the rapid growth formula. And just a precursor later in the show, we're going to give you a way that you can get that absolutely free along with a three day challenge so you can get crystal clarity about where you want to be in 12 months. And that's designed for people who really want to make their first million, but they haven't been able to figure out the steps of how exactly to get there. You may have gotten started, but you don't know how to get to that first meal. And I love helping people like that. So what I did is I sat down and analyzed what are the exact things that people need to get great at and be able to do. Now they might want to have somebody else doing pieces of these. That's fine, but you still have to cover these. And I have six steps. I think what I'll do is kind of give you an overview of all six, Brad, if that's okay. We can't possibly, in the course of just one interview, go deep dive because some of these have 15 pieces to them. But I want you listening to know what these are and then you can get the rapid growth formula for yourself. And the first one is that you've really got to get clarity about where you're going. That's step one. And, you know, I find that I've worked with a lot of people who are making multiple millions, but they still don't have clarity. They don't have that high impact vision. For example, they don't know the exact goals they should be focused on. Every business coach, consultant should be focused on three and only three goals every year. Now, that's because there are different kinds of goals and these three goals cover everything you need to be focused on. The second part is your mindset. But mindset isn't just limiting beliefs. A lot of times I think mindset gets a bad rap. People go, oh, I know about all that mindset stuff. And I go, yeah, but why is it you're still in the same thinking patterns that keep you making the same money that you're making, and you never seem to be empowered to really go to the next level. So the mindset part is critical because I can tell you, back in May, in one conversation that I had with somebody who was mentoring me, I went from thinking, you know, I'm building a $10 million business, which frankly sounded great. But in that same conversation, I went from thinking was at a 10 million to $100 million business. And all of a sudden my mindset, my way of thinking, the time questions I ask myself mammothally changed. And so I just had a conversation yesterday, Brad, with someone who I might do some business with them helping me get the exact framework for where I want to go. Because the first thing I said was, well, I don't know how to build $100 million business. But I'm not worried about that part. The biggest part is having decided I'm going to do it because the team will be attracted in. And so now I'm putting together a plan to be at 10 million in three years when that was the whole goal.
I like it.
So what do you. If you're going to get 100 million within 20 years, I got to get to 10 within three. Right, right. Changed my questions, changed my mindset. And the same thing's got to happen to you if you're listening to this. When you start thinking in bigger perspectives about what's possible for your life, this is the biggest thing. Because all of a sudden everything else starts to, starts to shift. I think you were about to say something.
Yeah, I was going to ask you what personally, what, what shifts did you make when you decided, when you asked yourself that question, like, what is your, what is your plan on that?
Well, I start, you know, the three areas that I look at are impact, profits and lifestyle. And I think that covers it for most people. And I realized that in that same month, this was, this was May, I realized that I had a pain that was super deep that had to be solved. And it started nagging at me every day over about a two week time period. And that was, I became painfully aware that even though up to that time I actually thought I'd played big, that I'd played painfully small all my life. All of a sudden, everything I'd accomplished looked like nothing by comparison to what I began to have inklings I could accomplish. And I started going, you know, and so this was a precursor to that conversation, which is interesting. I started going to myself going, you know, I think you're setting the wrong goals. I think you really could play a lot bigger than you're planning on playing. And it's time that you just step it up and really play super big. And so what changed for me when I made that shift is I started asking myself, how many people can I really impact and how much bigger can I impact their lives? You know, on the material level, I started thinking, well, you want the Phantom Rolls Royce, so why don't you go plan to get it. You want the estate, just go plan to get it. You know, you want to be able to stay in the suites and hotels, not just the nice rooms in hotels. So that's part of the profit part. And then what do you think is.
Going to be the biggest driver and leverage thing for you to get?
Well, the driver or the leverage point?
Well, the leverage point. What do you think is what are.
You going to do differently? Absolutely, without question. I'm designing a whole university at Conscious Millionaire that's going to have faculty, all of whom, or the majority of whom will be affiliate relationships. And what I've started doing is putting together a model of how quickly can I build.
What I want to build. And my answer is I can build it much faster by having lots of leverage points where I. Exactly what I've been talking about today, where I don't have to build each of the pieces, I own some of the pieces, the core pieces, but then I can outsource. And in some cases my plans are to say outsource that function year one, that you're doing it, but by year three, have it in house. Because sometimes it's cheaper early on, like in pieces of your marketing, it's cheaper to hire somebody who's an expert because you're buying a fraction of their time and they have an expertise that about how to get a specific result. But then say three years later you're doing it at such a large level, you actually just want to hire somebody in house to do it full time for you. But that's the way to build is look at all the ways that you can leverage and use other people's expertise. And then you don't have to own all the pieces of the ball game, you own the core pieces and then you have affiliates that are doing the other part. But let's face it, Brad, if you and I get 50% off of a $2,000 product that's sold, that the people who come and like in my case come to Conscious Millionaire University, they really want to grow as coaches and consultants and. And I get a thousand of that. And it's an area that my people need, but I don't have to build it and spend my time and energy perfecting it and even creating all the emails and learning how to sell it. Take the thousand dollars, let the other person make their money and everybody wins. And that's the way you can build faster.
I love it. I love it. So let's go back to those six steps. So the first couple, like the first.
Step is really getting clarity about where you're going. Where do you want to be in three years, one year? And then I like to work with all my clients with 90 day goals. And then where are you going to be at the end of the month? Because I find when you have short term, very specific, very measurable goals that usually people perform at much higher levels because it's easier to be motivated for 30 days or 90 days than it actually is for 365 days. That's harder, absolutely. Yep. That's just a lot harder. And then you've got to get good at understanding what your market wants and give them what they want. And that may sound painfully silly and simple, except that probably 90% of the people out there, coaches, consultants, entrepreneurs who are struggling right now, today, aren't. And by struggling, I'm saying you could be struggling at six figures, you could be struggling at seven figures, you could even be struggling at eight figures to get traction to go to your next level. And it's probably because you're not giving your market what they want. You've got to thoroughly understand that piece. And until you understand what it is they want, you cannot possibly put together a machine to attract and convert them over and over and over again because you'll be attracting the wrong people who aren't going to want what you want. There's a certain order you have to do these things in. And now when you get to that point, now you're getting cash flows coming in on a regular basis and they're predictable. You know how they happen, you know which headlines work. Now, once you're getting to that point, you want to play bigger. And you need to have a real good understanding of which of your leverage points and opportunities are high profit and which of them you need to leave alone. Not because they wouldn't be good, but because they won't be great, they won't be fantastic. And if you want to build quickly, you need to focus on far less. Most people are focusing on 10 things and when they should be focusing on one or two, and you should only be focusing on things that are going to give you high profits. Because when everything's said and done, we only have so many resources, we only have so much time, and we need to focus that on the high profit. That's not how most people are thinking. And you've got to create a platform, a platform so that you own a platform. Like in my case, I've got Conscious Millionaire, the book, which I'm proud to say became the number one. And it wasn't an accident. We marketed our way to get there. It was intentional. It became the number one book on all of Amazon. It was number one in 34 categories at the same time. And my podcast, which is, you know, named by Inc. Magazine one of the top 13 business podcasts for that, wasn't accidental. We did a lot of marketing. But what is the value of having a platform? You cannot keep going to your next levels until you become widely known by your audience. And also, as you found out, because you're widely known, you've got a great podcast there, you were an icon, right? Because that's where you meet your people that you do all your best business deals with. Because people know about you and they want to do business with other influencers. So you've got to reach that influencer level. And then finally, now that you've got the pieces working, your sixth step, and I'm a systems guy, so this is like fun stuff for me. You've got to systemize everything so you can scale like crazy. And that's when you go from a half million to a million to 2 to 4 to 6 to 10. And it's the same business model. You didn't really even change much, you know, and there are lots of examples out there of businesses started with one product and then they're very quickly at 10 million. Why? Because they figured out these pieces I'm talking about and then they scale like crazy.
Yeah, I like that. Now, what do you think? You mentioned just focusing on a handful of the most like high value activities. What do you think those are?
Well, they're unique for everybody and I'm really glad you asked that because here's the real clue. You need to sit down and create a set of criteria. And those criteria are going to include things like which opportunity. Let's talk about opportunities. Once, you know, we go back to step one, you know, where you want to be in three years, you know what that path basically looks like now, of course you're going to iterate as you go along, but you basically have an idea. I'm in this kind of business serving these kinds of people, providing these solutions to these problems. And that's what we do. Most people don't have that clear. That's step one. So now, now.
When you get to step five, which is about your high profit leverage points, you can say if it's this kind of, if it will further me getting to this goal, it's a good opportunity. But if it will take me off track from getting that goal, it's Not a good opportunity. It's somebody else's opportunity. So the criteria come out of you really getting to know who you are, who you're serving, what you want. And then part of that criteria is how much money ROI you want to get for every dollar you put into an opportunity. That's going to be different for every person, but you need to be clear about that. And then one that so many people mess up on. And moi. Moi has messed up on it, too. It cost me about two thirds of a million one year. So, yes, when you have losses like that, here's the good thing about them, you never, ever, ever forget them and you don't ever want to do them again.
I've got a few of them burned in my memory, I'll tell you that.
Well, and the thing that I did not pay attention to, even though this is an area I know so well, is risk. I took too much risk and too much leverage, and as a result, I didn't pay attention to it and it bit me in a kind of a bad way. So part of your criteria is how much risk you're willing to take on. And you need to get clear about that as an entrepreneur. And that's part of your evaluation of every opportunity that comes to you. Most people. Now, what I just gave you, if you just went and did this, you're miles ahead of most other people because most people don't go through this process. But the only way you can determine what's a high profit opportunity or a high profit leverage point that you should act on is to have clear criteria about what's right for you and your business.
Yeah, sorry. I had you unmute there for a second because my dog was barking. I was like, shut up, shut up. He's talking. Exactly. I think that's fascinating. Hey, let me. I want to shift gears just for a second because you talked about your platform and obviously I've got a platform. You have. How long have you had the radio show and. Or podcast? Did they launch at the same time or was it.
Actually, we launched it as a podcast initially and maybe. Oh.
A little over three years ago. Yeah, a little over three years. Three years ago. So we're just in our fourth season and I think we expanded to radio show.
Maybe a year and a half into that, so maybe halfway in. Okay. And now we're actively looking for lots more distribution avenues. And it's interesting because we talk about. You started the show with new media and old media. So I'm obviously combining new and old media because I'm realizing the name of the game is distribution and channels where people can hear the same story. And now we've, you know, we're finally getting, you know, we're done over 1100 shows. And I'm going, finally, we're figuring this thing out, right? So like every show becomes a blog post. Every blog post becomes an incident. Every fifth blog post, I have a Huffington Post column becomes a Huffington Post column, you know, and now we've just started on Instagram. So every show is put out on Twitter, it's put out on Instagram as images, you know, so we're looking at all the multiple ways we can repackage what we're doing and put it out multiple ways. It's the same content.
Yeah. Okay, cool. So what do you think has been the. When you were in the ramp up stage or you know, what's been the. What's been the most effective, effective way that you've grown Your business? I'm sorry, your audience?
Yeah, I think it's a great question. Well, I think the audience has grown because we started from the beginning. My goal was two times a week and I did 60 shows in the two months before I launched. So I very quickly figured out we're going to be a five day a week show. Now we're seven days.
I do know that helps for a fact.
Yeah, it does help because you've got tons of content, you've got tons of information going out there. But I think the number one thing that has made a difference is from the very beginning, I just sat down, nobody taught me how to do this. I just asked myself, what do you think is most important? And I said, I think what's most important to myself, this conversation I had is that my guests really are treated well and that they're made to look like the hero of the show. So they really. And I have to say it's really easy. Cause I have guests like you on, they're already heroes. But I knew that that was the deal and always focus on how much information I can give that's valuable to my listeners. And I said, if you make the guest the hero, you give valuable information to your listeners, the show's gonna work. And I think that's really a lot of the formula.
Is there anything outside promotion, things that.
You did and we promote like crazy.
Well, that's what I mean. So yeah, creating a good show is one thing, but is there? Because, you know, podcasts and this kind of media is.
Yeah, I think a lot of people don't get the promotion Part, right. And we spent the first year. I'm not exaggerating. I'd look at my numbers 15 times a day. I'm really proud that I'm down to one or two times a day, but, you know, 15 times a day. I knew my patterns inside and out, and we experimented very quickly. And, you know, I have a few favorite words, so one of them's journey, you know, so if you miss your real journey, you miss your real life. I think life is a journey, but another one, as an entrepreneur, one of my favorite words is iteration. You gotta iterate like crazy. And iteration, folks, is very simple. Pay attention, change. Pay attention, change. Pay attention, change. Pay attention, change. So we were changing how we wrote our tweets sometimes two or three times a week. And we'd test things and test and test and test and test. And we still do that, you know, just even the hashtags we put on our Twitter, at least once every one to two months, I go in. I personally do that research myself. I mean, I automate everything, so I don't touch most of the marketing because I create it, I watch the stats, I make changes in it, but I don't do it. I have two people who do that who work with us full time.
So you mentioned tweets and whatnot. Has Twitter been a big driver of your listenership?
Twitter has been really good for us.
I've neglected Twitter quite a bit.
Yeah, I think I should. Twitter is a great place to find podcast listeners. And the fact, like, our blog is insane at this point, when we put up five quality blogs a week, and I'm thinking today, the number of people who are leaving comments.
Gosh, I think in the last three hours, at least 10 people. So it really is helping to drive the traffic. But then, just like on LinkedIn, I spent a lot of time, hired a guy this year who helped me really redo my LinkedIn profile. So I get clients off of LinkedIn, I get lots of contacts. I've gotten people on the show. I've been on people's show because our LinkedIn profile, as he put it, it's in the top 1%. And then when we're taking and putting five articles a week through my LinkedIn, well, it shows super, super active. And what's great is they're all about the podcast. They're all about them. So we're taking the same information, which is great information, because we're interviewing incredible people, and it's all about the podcast. So we use the podcast as the center of everything.
Yeah, that's, that's kind of how I've been doing that as well. Well, that's fascinating. And I love all of the things you've been sharing. And we're, you know, coming up to the end of the end of the epicle. See, everybody else has episodes. Bacon wrap business.
Yeah, but you're bacon. You're bs.
But we've got, we've got epicizzles.
You got ache and sizzle. I love it.
That's right. So, jv, I highly recommend everybody pick up your book. Where's the best? Oh, first of all, you mentioned a free resource that people can get. Was it the rapid growth formula?
Yeah. So here's the free resource. I created a three day challenge for coaches and consultants. Now, this challenge, in this challenge I'm going to walk you through and it's for coaches and consultants that you know you've got to dream of getting to that first million. But maybe right now you haven't even gotten to the hundred. That's okay. I want you in this challenge because over three days I'm going to help you get crystal clarity about what that impact is. And in a very practical way, because your impact may be creating a new product. The impact is always going to be going out there and the thing you're going to be getting back is money for that impact. And then the second part is, where do you want to be financially in 12 months? Most people don't have crystal clarity. And then what do you want? Your life and lifestyle. Because, folks, we're doing this in part because we want a great life and lifestyle. I'm finding myself wanting to work less and make more and have bigger impact. And if you like that formula, let's work together because I really want you to get there. But this is absolutely free to go through the three day challenge and I went over the six steps in the rapid growth formula. You're going to get infographic with the rapid growth formula as well. And here's the super bonus. Now this is for coaches and consultants. That's who we work with. I'm going to give you a free PDF of my best selling book. So this is a mega offer. It's all 100% free. And that's because we really like to build deep relationships with people. And the best way to do that is give people incredible value. And that's what we want to give to you. Real value that in three days will make a difference in your business.
I love it. Where do they go for that?

So we're working with a guy and we're working at how to really crack it so that it's exactly what people want and that we're targeting exactly the right people. So that's kind of an interesting game that we're at right now. And then the bigger thing is preparing for how we're going to approach 2018. I'm actually taking two weeks off in the next month. Yeah, I'm going to take two weeks just to envision it and take notes. And the only thing I'll do during those two weeks, I'm not a crazy fool, folks. I am setting up two to three hours in the morning, starting at 8 o' clock to do sales calls. I will do sales calls with people who want to do business with me, but I'm not going to do any other calls. I mean, these are going to just be for me to envision where I want to go.
