Songs stick in your head better than books even though a typical song has about 330 words, roughly one page. Melody and tonality help your brain encode lyrics, giving songs roughly a tenfold retention advantage over written text.
Around 330 words.
About 330 words.
"No Easy Way Out" (from Rocky IV).
Rich Dad Poor Dad.
About ten times ("10 times further").
What's your favorite song? Like, what's your favorite song you can just sing at any time? Yeah. Rocky 4. No Easy Way Out. Now, typically in the average song there's typically around 330 words. What's your favorite book? Like a book you've read several times. You just love the book. It could be anything. Yeah. I gotta tell you, Rich, bad rich dad, poor daddy is basically man, I love it. Can you recite word for word one page of that book? Yeah. That's interesting because in one page of the average book is also about 330 words. Why can your brain retain a song word for word that has 330 words on average, but it can't retain one page of a book because you're reading words, whereas a song you hear the melody and the tonality. The tonality and the melody allows your brain to retain it 10 times further than a book does. That's why you can never master anything a book because you can't retain it.
