Jess, a relationship coach, explains how sensitive children absorb unresolved family tensions and get labeled as the problem. They're not broken; they're picking up on what adults won't address. The real work is releasing burdens that were never theirs to carry.

If you were labeled as the problem in the family, chances are that you were not the problem. You were just the one who could feel the problem. Here's what I mean. Sensitive children pick up on all the things that no one is addressing in the home, and they can't ignore it. They're the ones who feel it all and are reacting to it, and they don't even know necessarily what they're reacting to. And often that very same child is projected upon within the family and made into the scapegoat. Made into the problem, made into the reason why no one has to look at themselves because they can just point the finger at this child. So if this is your story, the answer is not to blame your family. The answer is to put down what was never yours to carry.
