Why You Get Leads That Can't Afford You

You're attracting broke followers instead of paying customers because you keep promising faster results rather than changing who you're talking to. This speaker runs a text-based, Google Docs business with no sales calls, batches content in bulk, and uses a free newsletter as bait to find the quiet, high-spending clients he calls whales.

So why your leads can't pay you and the leads that can pay you don't show up? And I get all of my leads inbound, and that's what took my business from $0 to $104,000 in MRR. Everything was inbound, everything was done with Google Docs, no sales calls. What happened, right? How did it come to be? And I only market to— I call them whales, and I make the contrast to fish. Fish are people who like your content, they comment, but they don't really buy anything. Whales are kind of the other way around. They're kind of quiet, they don't really talk much, but, uh, they do buy, and they do buy in bulk. And I build my business surrounded by whales because I find it much more enjoyable. I have around 250,000 followers and only 130 paying clients, and I love it. It's fantastic because I only talk to the people that are like truly competent, they want to go to the next stage, and the other ones I don't really entertain. So how do you attract these kind of whales, and how do you get them to talk? And I find that a lot of people enlarge the wrong thing to enlarge, and they have their promise, they have their offer, and they think a lot about how do I make this promise better, which is a fair— it's a fair thing to do, right? You do need a good offer to make these things happen. But what I think they're doing wrong is they're enlarging the promise. They're making— instead of, let's say, get a six-pack in 30 weeks, they're making it 25, 24, 21, right? And then it's like, the reason why that doesn't work, it's because whales are people who have tried things. Whales are people who have done what you're trying to get them to do, but they have failed. Now, if you have failed at something, and you're slightly discouraged, when, when you see an offer that will allow you to do the same thing but even larger, then are you going to lean into that? Probably not, because you already tried it and you know the path that they're going to take you through, and you're like, I've already done that, I've already tried that, and it sucked, right? So what do you do to attract that kind of person that can pay you has the attitude, but it's just in that situation where they're like, they're kind of beat up because, I mean, frankly, when you want to go for a goal and you lose, it's like, it kind of sucks, right? So what are you doing instead? Like, what do you promote instead? It's not the promise, it's the path. So we're drawing today, and let's say, doing this thing again. So this is your whale, right? We're gonna draw a person, and, uh, You have this goal. What should you not do? It's enlarge this and say, you weren't attracted to getting a six-pack in 20 weeks? Guess what I got for you, bro? 19 weeks, yo. And then what else? Guess what? Guess what? 18 weeks. That's my mastermind. Totally get it, right? It makes no sense, but that's what people do. So what do you do instead? This will has already tried to get here. So you do not touch this. Instead, you touch this. You show them, actually, the promise you wanted, you can still get it, but it's just through a different mechanism. It's just through a different path. So you don't touch anything about this. My offers are actually, like, quite bland. It's like, make this much and that much, and that's it, right? I don't go towards it, but I put a lot of effort into showing them what they don't have to do. So in my situation, I don't require anybody— the model I use doesn't require anybody to do sales calls. We don't have to be nice. We don't have to tolerate people. We run a business. We don't run a show business. We don't have to like entertain and kind of show up for somebody, and we don't have to pretend we're somebody we're not. Like, I don't record a lot of talking, uh, talking head videos like this one that you're watching. There's a reason why the other two that you watched— well, that I posted right before this I'm wearing the same shirt and I have the same, like, kind of weird thing on my hair. It's because I do them on a batch when I feel excited about it, and when I don't, I just don't. Like, I record a lot of videos in a very short amount of time, and then I record no videos in a very long amount of time because it's just when I feel like it, right? And I feel like people who record these talking head videos, they kind of look hostage. It's like they show up to their face and they're like, what's up guys, let me tell you about what's happening, and they look kind of scared. Source. It's because I was one of them. I didn't want to do those, but every Tuesday was recording day, and that's what I did, right? But anyway, right, I show people that they don't have to do any of that stuff, and I don't put a lot of effort into what the outcome is going to be. Like, honestly, these things take time. If you want to build a business that makes $100,000 a month, it's not easy. Like, you have to do some things, right? It does require some time. So I'd rather focus on what you don't have to do, or the things that I do do, which is it's all text. We focus on profit because if you're not taking money home, then kind of what's the point? It's, uh, you and a VA, like no teams. It's you and a VA. So it's like, how do you use that plus AI to do these things more simple to you? So I make the path, I enlarge the path, I talk about what I do and what I don't, what I— my philosophy is and what it's not, what I require people to do in this model and what the model kind of treats as optional. And that's much more helpful to people who have already tried things because they're not in it as much for the promise. If not, they would have gone for it already. Like, these guys are competent, they're smart, they would have already gone for the thing, but they're looking for the right path that hopefully they can get through you. So that's it. We call this whale bait. It's, uh, how do you not get fish but you actually get whales in your funnel? You can go right here to likesandcash.com. It's a free newsletter. I show folks who may be in the same situation as you, where they're like, they get an audience, they have fish, but whales are much more fun and they would rather go for those. I'll show you how we are doing it inside Cash Creators, so you can go right there and I'll show you how. It's a free newsletter, opt in anytime. You can unsubscribe whenever you want. It's the blue button at the end of every email. You can't miss it because it's really big and blue. So if you want to opt out, you can opt out. And yeah, that's how it goes. And, uh, if you'd like to get more whale leads, this is how we do it.
