In this motivational monologue, Jodie Louise challenges the conventional notion of a guru, asserting that each individual holds the answers to their own healing and wellbeing. She shares personal experiences of over‑reliance on external teachers, the pain that resulted, and the liberating realization that inner wisdom is the true source of guidance. Drawing on her time in Bali, she illustrates how indigenous knowledge of plants—such as gotu kola, wild coriander, and moringa—reveals a deep, intuitive connection between humans and nature that modern society has largely lost. Jodie emphasizes that women (and humans generally) possess an innate “sixth sense” that can be cultivated to make informed choices about food, health, and relationships. She encourages listeners to pause, place their hands on their heart, and ask themselves what their bodies need, advocating experimentation, self‑observation, and mindful interaction with others as pathways to personal empowerment. Throughout, she positions herself not as a guru but as a fellow learner and guide, inviting feedback and emphasizing that mistakes are part of the learning process.

I am not your guru. You are. Let that sink in for a moment. Think of all the people that you've seen as a guru, you've seen as a teacher, as a role model. What if you saw that these people were just there to help you see your inner genius. They were just a mirror to help you see yourself. Yes, maybe you've learnt new skills, of course, and they've taught you things, but I myself have fallen into the trap so many times. I've gone to a training and Or a retreat, or I've done a coaching program, and I've taken every single word they've said for gospel. I did this for so long, and I hurt myself. I hurt my body, and I hurt my heart. And it wasn't until I met a guru or a teacher that said, you have all the answers inside of you, and you are your own healer. And that's when I realized that I had all the answers inside of me to heal and be happy, and it was so freaking liberating. So now, as a teacher myself, here to guide women into feeling the best possible versions of themselves, themselves in body, mind, and spirit, I find that they still come to me saying, can I eat this? Is this okay? I did this naughty thing. You're going to be angry at me. And it, it shatters me because I'm no different. I've just walked a certain path and through my own wounds, I'm sharing them. I'm sharing my own experiences as to what's worked for me, and I've now seen work for many of my clients and many of the people in my life that have had similar experiences. But I'm no guru. Ah. So I invite you to be aware of when you ask people questions. And firstly, look inside, because maybe you have the answer, because you are a freaking guru. You are powerful. For thousands and thousands of years, we survived before we had Google and the internet. Can you imagine what we would have done before then? We used to be able to walk through a field full of different greenery and herbs and plants and fruits and vegetables And know what we needed to eat on that day. We intuitively knew what our body needed, and now we've just become disconnected. We've become disconnected from our bodies so much that we don't know if it's okay to eat fruit. I have people coming to me saying, is it okay to eat fruit? Beautiful fruit that falls from the tree when it's ripe and ready to be eaten. That is the easiest food to access. To grow and to eat. It literally peels apart and melts in your mouth and digests with ease. But can you eat fruit? Ah, but then some of the herbs that grow can kill you. Some of them can heal you. How do you know? Well, it takes time, and I'm not even there fully myself. I'd be a liar to say that I would— that I was, but I have spent so much time connecting with the lands here in Bali. I, I go out with the locals and I get them to show me, and they're like, wow, that's gotu kola, and that's great for mind and brain function, and that's wild coriander, and I'm eating it fresh, and I'm like, wow, that doesn't look like the normal coriander. And seeing the moringa is a big giant tree and then seeing that pineapples are just a tiny little bush. I mean, like, mind blown. Like, what? Nature is so freaking amazing. What's even more fascinating, when you look at some of the plants, you see that some of them are even shaped like different body parts. So intuitively, you can look around and be like, oh, that might be good for my intestines, or that might be good for my heart or my mind or my brain. So it's a very fascinating world we live in, but we've just become disconnected. So one of my greatest passions is to empower people to really tap into their intuitive wisdom. I mostly work with women, and I truly believe that we have been given an extra sixth sense. And one of my teachers once told me that we actually had an extra protection around our breasts for when we breastfeed our children. It's like an extra protection. So I do feel we have— It's like a little shield. Some extra stuff going on, but I'm sure men have extra stuff going on too, so I don't want to discriminate. You know, they've been the hunters and the gatherers, and maybe they're more connected to the lands, I don't know. This is very much something I'm continually learning and navigating into myself, and I share it just because it's such an important topic to my heart. So yeah, it's absolutely Yeah. I am not your guru. You are. It feels so good to say that. So yeah, next time you feel the urge to ask a question, go within. Just place your hands on your heart and be like, do I have any answers? And you know what? You might be like, yeah, I do. And then it might be wrong. And that's okay, 'cause you're human. And until you try, you're not going to know. And until you make mistakes, you're not going to learn. I can guarantee you that people would have walked through nature, they would have eaten something, and they would have got really high. They would have become unwell, and they would have thought, I'm not gonna eat that again. So instead of asking me what you should eat, why not experiment with your body? See what makes you feel good. See what gives you energy and vitality. And see what makes you feel tired and sluggish. Tune into different people you spend time with. Which ones activate you and make you feel so alive? And which ones make you want to shrink and crumble? This is one of the greatest gifts I gave myself. And I would love to hear from you and how it serves you and how it makes you feel and anything else that you have to share with me, because I'm not the guru. I'm learning every day too. And being open, yeah, it's just— It's so important. The best way to be. And I now think, who am I in this moment? Everything could change. What worked yesterday might not work today. So I always ask my body daily, what do I need today? What feels good? And be mindful of any teachers or gurus that tell you this is the way. Why are you doing that? Doing that could hurt your body. Tune into that. Because you know best. And some of what they're saying may be true for you, and some of it might not be. And for any of my clients watching this video, if I ever do that, freaking tell me off. Jodie, don't tell me what to do. Invite me. Ask me, how does that feel in your body? This is how we will change the world, by connecting with it. You are the source of all creation, and you have all the answers inside of you. And I love you. Ah.
