Canva's Hidden AI Features: A Complete Tutorial for 2025 - Joe Apfelbaum

Canva has a lot of AI features. There's a lot of AI stuff you can do with Canva. Let me show you a couple AI features that Canva has. So first you want to click on File and then Create a New Design. Then you can select either a custom size or you can pick from many different sizes or you can search for a particular template. But let's say we're going to do an Instagram square, which is 1080 by 1080. You have the plain square here on the left side. You're going to see it's going to say Magic Media. When you click on Magic Media, This Magic Media box pops up. You can click on this little i that kind of explains what it is. Effortlessly craft engaging media with the power of AI. Ages 13 and above. Powered by Runway. There's images, there's graphics, there's videos. Okay, so if you click on images, you can type in the type of image that you want. Before you type it in, you can pick your style. So there's film, photo, high flash, long exposure, minimalist, moody, vibrant, 3D, gradient, psychedelic. I'm going to click on psychedelic because right now I'm going to type in mushrooms and AI. Okay, so I'm going to choose square, landscape, or portrait. We'll do square. We'll hit generate, and you get a certain amount of credits every month. The credits get listed right under there. It's going to create 4 images. You pick the image that you like by clicking on the image. If you go away from this or hit cancel or whatever and you don't save this, the images actually get lost. So you can click on all 4. They load over here. These are the different images. We got 1, 2, 3, and then we'll have a 4th image loading shortly. And you got your 4 images here. Now on the bottom here, it tells you you used 1 of 498 credits. Refresh is 321, so you get about 500 credits per month. That's how it works. Now if you like this, you can save it. You can name it over here. I'm going to say mushrooms. And done, it's saved. If you want to share it, you can just share it just like that. If you want to erase a part of this mushroom, let's say for example I want to edit this image, you click on the image, you press Edit, and then on the left side you have Magic Eraser. You can erase a part of the mushroom. So for example, if I just want to erase this dot here, I press Erase. It's going to go ahead and get rid of that dot. You see that? It got rid of the dot and it kept the same. If you want to get rid of a specific mushroom, let's say I want to get rid of this mushroom over here, go ahead and erase that mushroom. Let's see what it does. Erases it like it was never there. Very powerful tool. All right, what else can I show you? It's just, it's just so amazing how quickly you can do things. I'm going to go back over here and I'm going to leave this and just go back to the homepage of Canva. The way that you do that is just go to canva.com. In the homepage of Canva, on the left side, you're going to see different options. You're going to see Brand and Apps. Let me see if I can move this. And it says Dream Lab. When you click on Dream Lab, it takes you to canva.com/dream-lab. Over here you can dream anything you want. You can start with these inspiring ideas, or you can write a prompt: a house with a Tudor style that is in a forest with lots of monkeys. Okay, I press create. Let's just see what it dreams up. You could add images, you can make it smart by putting specific palettes to it, you could do one 16:9. Click on it if you want, and you can edit it inside a design. You can make it more realistic, less realistic, whatever you want to do. You can press these 3 dots over here. You can do image guidance. You can download the image. You can delete the image, and so on. There's a lot you can do, and as you can see, I have 499 credits specifically for this as well. I'm going to go back to the home of Canva. In Canva, you also have a document. Check out this document tool here. When you click on the document tool, you can generate text. You click on this dot over here and you can do Magic Write. So create a list of 30 ideas for LinkedIn posts related to digital marketing and personal branding. You don't have to spell it right. I'm going to press generate. As you can see, it's going to go ahead and create for me 30 ideas related to digital marketing and personal branding. Now what I can do is I can take this entire, press Insert. I can take this entire document that was created now by AI. I can click on Magic Switch and then I can convert this to a presentation. So I'm going to click Create Presentation, hit Generate. Now you can select the type of images that you want to, the type of design of the presentation. I'm going to select this design over here and I'm going to hit Create Presentation. So it's going to go ahead and create a presentation With all my graphics, just like that. You see that digital marketing? I could then go ahead and insert those AI images that I created into this presentation, and I can turn this into a video. You see, I can present it on the top right corner. I can share. I can export this, download it. I can download it as a PDF, as a PPTX, as an MP4 video, as a JPEG, as a PNG, as a CSV, or as an animated GIF. And you can see There are many slides here that I can go through, and I can keep adding more slides. I can add a timer, duration, notes, and so on. There's a lot that you can do with artificial intelligence. There's a concept called Bulk Create. Bulk Create allows you to add data and create hundreds of images from popular sources like Excel and CSV, and then you can design whatever design you want, and Bulk Create will go ahead and design those. It's really powerful. If you click on Apps, you're going to see that they have many apps. They have AI-powered apps. And you can click on AI-powered apps and you can scroll down and see all the apps. There's another way to go see the apps. If you click on this dot here and you click on Canva, you can actually explore all the apps by clicking on apps, which is canva.com/your-apps. You go down to AI-powered and you can see all the different AI-powered apps that are built right into Canva. Everything from audio generation, sketch to life, magic morph, Hello QArt, which is creating QR codes that are looking amazing, all built right into Canva. You just keep going down here, you're going to see AI motion graphics, children's books. You could design voiceovers and creative backgrounds and avatars and so many different tools that you can access right inside Canva. So hopefully this gave you some ideas of how you can generate AI-generated images right right inside Canva. If you're not sure how any of this works, you can always search their help section. They have a lot of help section in their Magic Create stuff. Really powerful magic. You search magic over here, Magic Morph, search for magic. So if I just search magic, you can find all the various— you type in images, you search for things related to images. You see Image Upscaler. Image enhancement, Mojo AI. Look at that. So many different things that you can do. They also have an awesome content planner here where you can start planning your content. And there's many, many more tools that you can use. I do like their DreamLab, although using other tools like Leonardo or Midjourney or even Google's ImageFX actually looks better than the images that they create here.
