Go ahead, uh, in the chat, um, let me know where in the world you are dialing in from. Um, and I also wanna make sure that you know how to use the chat. That's why I am, uh, asking you to do that. So go ahead and, and let us know where in the world you're dialing in from. So we have people from India, we have people from Georgia in the US, uh, Wellington, New Zealand, Sydney, Boston, Philippines. So we have a true global audience here from New Zealand. From all over Australia, Denmark. Wow. Sydney, Queensland. Cool. I love that we have people from all over the place. You know, one of the things that I'm going to be talking about today is marketing strategy, because I believe that the right strategy will save you a decade. I watched my mother struggle in her store for a decade and try to build her business. And after 10 years of struggling in her store, eventually she went out of business. And when I try to ask her, I say, Ma, what happened? Why'd you go outta business? She says, because I wasn't lucky. Luck is a great thing. It's just not a great strategy. So what I want to remind you all is that if you don't have a strategy, it's gonna be hard for you to scale and get to your goals. What is a strategy anyway? I wrote a book called High Energy Marketing, and I talk about marketing strategy a lot because I was fortunate enough to grow my business to be on the Inc. 500. I don't know if you guys ever heard of the Inc. 500. Now it's called the Inc. 5,000. It's Inc. magazine takes a lot of the companies in the US, hundreds of thousands of companies that are doing millions of dollars in revenue, and they rank them to see what are the 5,000 privately held companies over a 3-year period of time. Try to identify what are the fastest growing companies in the US, private companies. And we were featured as number 178 as one of the fastest growing companies in the US. And I look back and I ask myself, what did I do differently than my mother did? Why, why did my mother fail after a decade of being in her business? And we, instead of failing, we scaled. So I look and I say, well, Some of it was like, you know, being at the right place at the right time, having the right people, the right partner, the right clients, the right pricing strategy, the right offer, the right target market. Right. But what, what is all that? That's, that's a strategy right there. Right. Think about it. What is the basis? A strategy is the plan, the people, and the promise. Those 3 things will create your strategy. So if you need a strategy in the chat, write, I need a strategy. If you have a strategy, write, I have a strategy. If you have a strategy, that means you're very clear about your business plan, your marketing plan. If you're using specific tactics like LinkedIn, you have a LinkedIn plan. You know who your target market is. You're very clear. You're in a blue ocean, not a red ocean. You're in a place where you know that you can charge your prices based on value. You know who your centers of influences are. You know what messaging, the pains and the gains of your customers, of your specific target market. So if you don't have a strategy, that's okay. You need to create a strategy. So put it on your to-do list. Just write in the chat, I need a strategy. You don't have one, just write, I'm working on it, or I need a strategy. And that'll give you a reminder that, hey, you really need to sit down with a strategist and someone to help you be able to create a strategy. That would be the first thing for any, for any entrepreneur that wants to be successful. You have to look a couple of years ahead. Know where you want to go, know what you're going to do in the next week, but look ahead of where you want to go in 5 years. I just interviewed a CEO of a company called Donnelly Mechanical. He sold his company. He took his company from zero. He started it when he took it over, took it from zero, got his first 30 customers, 2 technicians, HVAC, heating and air conditioning company. And he took it to $200 million in revenue and then he sold it. And I asked him, I said, What are the key things that you did in order to be able to get the company from $0 to $65 million, then to $120 million, then to $200 million, and then sell it? He said, I sit down and I work on my business, not in my business. I sit down and come up with strategies. So when it comes with strategies, whether you're doing digital marketing or whether you're doing any types of marketing, you need to have a plan. You need to know where you're going, because if you market to the wrong people, you're gonna get the wrong type of customer. And the wrong type of, type of customer is gonna destroy your business. It's gonna give you the wrong type of referrals. So I really want you to sit down and think about who is your most ideal client. And if you're, if you know who your ideal client is, just put in who your ideal client is in the chat. I'm curious to see what people are saying, who their ideal client is. And if you're not sure, just say people, just write people. I need people. When I, when I go networking, I need to have a networking strategy. So for example, if I'm at a networking meeting and somebody said, Joe, who do you wanna meet? I say business owners, decision makers. That's basically like saying people. You can't be successful just targeting people for the sake of people. You can't even be successful just targeting people based on their problem that they have instead of based on their title and demographic and psychographic and geographic area and firmographic, thinking about the type of company that you're targeting based on how many employees and how much revenue they have. So if you're just saying CEOs, founders, That's good, but it's not great. Great would be the CEO of an HVAC company that's $10 million to $100 million in revenue in the US. Do you understand the difference between CEO and the CEO of an HVAC company that's $10 million to $100 million in the US? Now, the reason why I interviewed Dan Donnelly from Donnelly Mechanical, the founder of that company, and eventually the one that sold it, who lives in South Carolina, and he had, he He did really well selling the company. He's set for life. Yeah. He's in his 60s. I'm in my 40s. I'm excited to be able to get to a place like that where I build a company to hundreds of millions of dollars and eventually sell it. I haven't done that yet. I'm on my journey. So I'm interviewing people, but I'm also going to be using that as a lead magnet. Do you guys have a lead magnet or you need a lead magnet? In the chat, write that down. Say I have a lead magnet or I need a lead magnet. Now, if you wanna see a version of my lead magnet, I can share my screen and show, uh, an example of a lead magnet. I don't know, Adam, if you want me to share my screen, I can. I think I might need permission for that. I may have permission for it. I, I didn't even check. But, um, uh, if, yeah, if the answer is yes, if you guys want me to share my screen, I can and show you some things. But if you don't have a lead magnet, we actually have a, a group that we meet once a month for a couple of hours a month where we sit down and we work with artificial intelligence to create lead magnets and email automations and things like that. Um, and so if you guys want information about our mastermind, just write mastermind in the chat and I'll talk about it later. Um, but I'm gonna use that interview as a lead magnet. That means I'm targeting CEOs of HVAC companies. What do they, what do they wanna hear? They wanna hear from another CEO that sold their company for $200 million. Now, don't you think that that would be a good lead magnet that somebody would gimme their email address and cell phone number so, so they could watch a 90-minute video of me turning around the kitsch kiss of this guy, just like figuring out everything about him? I asked him the hardest questions you can ask. I asked him what books he read, what problems he had. I asked him, I asked him about his failure in his marriage and his divorce and why he even got married to her to begin with. I asked him about the craziest things and I made him laugh and cry. And it was a great 90-minute interview. And there's 81,000 HVAC CEOs in the United States. I'm not looking to work with 81,000. I'm looking to work with the ones. That are between $10 and $100 million in revenue. Let's say there's 10,000 of those. And even out of those, I'm not looking to work with all of them. I'm looking to ones that care about strategy psychographically. They need to care about strategy. So maybe I'm working with 1,000 and out of those 1,000, maybe I'll convert 100, but 100 of those, 100 companies over the course of the next 5 years that I'm working with closely in the HVAC industry because of this one lead magnet, that's powerful. I'm not gonna edit the lead magnet. I'm gonna have AI edit it. I'm gonna have AI transcribe it. I'm gonna have AI put together marketing and graphic materials out of it and landing pages. I'm not gonna do that. I want you to think in those terms. If you wanna generate revenue in your business, you need to have a strategy. You need to have a plan. But without a strategy, how are you gonna know what lead magnet to create? Or you're just gonna create a lead magnet that CEOs want. You know what CEOs want? They want you to leave them alone. They want some marijuana. So go send 'em some marijuana, send 'em some mushrooms. That's what they want, right? Think about that for a second. It's very, very powerful. So, um, I see a lot of you wrote mastermind in the chat, so I'll be sharing that. I'll be sharing a link to my mastermind. I'll give you guys a special deal on that as well. Um, I want you guys to think about your own business. What is the number one keyword that you want to rank for in your business? Think about that for a second and put that in the chat, because that's important. So for example, I want to rank for HVAC marketing. Why? Because if somebody searches HVAC marketing, I want to come up number one, both on the paid part of Google and on the free part of Google and also on LinkedIn, right? I want to come up everywhere on that, on Quora. Is it Quora or Quora? A Quora. Quora, Quora, Quora. I don't know what it's called. It's called something to do with a Q-U whatever, right? Ask a question. Okay, what is the number one keyword that you want to rank for on Google? If you could choose a keyword on Google, what's the number one keyword? It used to be B2B marketing because my focus for the past 5 years was B2B marketing. I generated millions of dollars doing B2B marketing, but I realized for myself I need to go niche. Further in, because the riches are in the niches, not in the sales pitches. Because itches get stitches. I said itches. Itches get stitches. If you want the riches, you got to be in the niches. That's, that's the famous saying. And I do like to rap, in case anybody was wondering. Maybe we'll have ChatGPT create a rap for us. I want to rank for wellness and workman's comp. I love that. Wellness and workman's comp. I want you to think about the keywords you— if you're not sure what keyword you want to rank for, just write not sure. It's okay. You don't have to be sure about it. That's something you figure out once you have a strategy, because the right strategy will save you a decade. Okay, so we talked about the foundation of a strategy, which is having a plan, a business plan, a marketing plan, a plan for your tactic. By the way, what is your number one social media site that you want to be successful in? In the chat, pick one. You can't have all of them. I think Gary Vaynerchuk says spend 80% on one social media site and 20% on all the other ones, right? TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, whatever. Spend 20% of your time on all of them, but then focus on, focus on one that we spend 80% of your time. Okay. I'm not surprised. I'm not surprised that LinkedIn is flying in the chat, mostly LinkedIn, but also some on Facebook. Number one, let's talk about the primary, secondary. I get Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, whatever. TikTok, I get it, but it looks like LinkedIn. Does anybody know how many people are on LinkedIn? I asked my kids this. They're like a million. I said 12 years ago when I started teaching LinkedIn, you know, I had my first presentation. I was teaching people how to create a profile on LinkedIn. Adam, I don't know how long you're teaching LinkedIn, but I looked back at like a little over a decade ago. I had this badly designed presentation that says LinkedIn now has 65 million members. I don't know if you remember those times, but like, I couldn't believe it that I had a pre— I even, I didn't even know that I was teaching LinkedIn back then because I was mostly a Google trainer. I was teaching SEO and PPC on behalf of Google. They would send people to my seminars in person. People would pay me $80 a seat. Google would send them. I would keep the money and I would educate them for an hour and a half, sometimes for 3 hours. And it was fun. I did 45 minutes. My partner did 45 minutes. I did another 45 minutes. It was so much fun. Reuters just came out with an article a few weeks ago that LinkedIn hit a billion members. Members, one billion members. Catherine just over a billion. Cooper said a billion. If you go to about.linkedin.com, that's where I get my info from. They write nine hundred and fifty. So Jackie's you're right. But Reuters came out with an article that LinkedIn hit a billion. They still didn't update their website. About.linkedin.com still says nine hundred and fifty million. But let's just round it off to a billion. Let's just say there's a billion. LinkedIn's growing rapidly. Does anybody know how quickly LinkedIn is growing? At what rate? Is LinkedIn growing now? LinkedIn is very powerful, but maybe your target market's not on LinkedIn. I was talking to a dietitian and she's like, I, I am a coach for dietitians. She was a registered dietitian and she's a coach also. She helps dietitians hit 6 figures. Okay. That's her, that's her, her, uh, her target market. Jeff said 3 people a second. Excellent. It used to be 2 people a second. It's growing even faster now because more of the college graduates, which is the fastest growing demographic on LinkedIn, are joining LinkedIn rapidly to be able to get jobs. And a lot of people are having a hard time getting jobs these days. In today's economy, it's hard. That's why there's more freelancers and more entrepreneurs and Upwork's doing really well and Fiverr is doing really well. And people are, are using LinkedIn as a platform to find opportunities and to network and to build relationships. So it's growing at a rate of 3 people per second. The CEO of LinkedIn announced recently that his goal is to grow LinkedIn to 3 billion members. Wow. Wow. There's a lot of opportunity. LinkedIn has the highest organic reach from any other platform. Why am I telling you all this? It's because you need a business strategy, a business plan. You need a marketing plan, and you also need a LinkedIn plan. You need all 3, and they all should tie into each other. So I'll give you an example of each one cuz we're talking about strategy. By the way, if you guys are getting value, write value in the chat. Just quick check. If you guys are getting value, um, just write value in the chat. I'm curious. And I'm always, I always like checking. I'm a marketer. Okay. I don't know if you guys noticed this, but I'm a marketer and I like checking in on my customers and my potential customers. And you guys are prospects, right? For me, for my AI circle, you guys are prospects. I'm sorry to call you a prospect, but I want to help you. You're a prospective person that I can serve, right? Not all of you, but some of you are. The ones that wrote mastermind in the chat are prospective customers. So I'd like to, I'd like to support you. I don't know if Jen's here. Uh, my assistant's not here. Okay. Um, so Adam, if you could put a link to the AI Circle in the chat for people to kind of check out for later. Um, it's evyrgreen.com/aicircle. Um, evergreen.com/aicircle. That would be awesome. I'm gonna drop it in the chat, but it's only going to hosts and, and to panelists. So that's, you know, Adam, you can drop, I don't know if you have access to chat with everyone, but if somebody wants to put it in the chat, they can. It's evyrgreen.com/aicircle. I just wanna make sure you guys get that because later I forget to even like tell you guys what I do for a living. And then my team is like, why, why'd you even do it? I said, I don't know. I just got up and had fun right before a major move. Right before I'm moving, I'm doing a beautiful presentation. I told the movers to come. They wanted to come earlier. They said, Joe, who cares if you're doing a presentation? You'll just hold up the computer desk and we'll just take the desk, put it in the truck, and we'll meet you in the other house. I was like, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. I gotta be present. evergreen.com/aicircle. Okay. And some people say, why do you have a Y in Evergreen? Why is it E-V-Y-R? Why don't you just do evergreen.com? It wasn't available. So they said, but why with a Y? I said, why not? I know, I know, I know. It's funny. It's funny. It's a funny joke. It's a funny joke. Okay. Um, so, okay. So you need, you need to have a business plan, a marketing plan, and a LinkedIn plan. So what does it mean to have a business plan? In, in a very simple way, what I teach people in my, in my course is I, I just basically say, have a revenue goal. Okay. Just to keep it simple, have a revenue goal. All right. Have a revenue goal and have an average revenue per client. So do you guys have a revenue goal for 2024? Putting your revenue goal again, the number doesn't really matter much. It could be $10,000. It could be $50,000. It could be $100,000. It could be a million. It could be a billion. It doesn't make a difference because just because you have a revenue goal, no one knows what you're really making. I was talking to about a guy who had a $30 million business that was taking home $200,000 a year with zero profit. That's it. So it doesn't matter. It really— and you could be living in the forest and make $30,000 and have more money than someone living in New York making a million dollars. You know what I mean? Like it doesn't matter. It just matters that you have a revenue goal. So put a number in the chat. If you don't wanna put a number in the chat, at least write it down and then have a revenue per client number as well. Okay. That's a bit, this is, this is like a business conversation, revenue per client. So you wanna have revenue, revenue per client, and then you want to understand how many clients you need in order, and they have to match, you know, you have to do the math. You know what I mean? So if you have your revenue is, let's say, I don't know, somebody wrote over here, $300,000. Great, Steve, $300,000. Good number. I like that. Very achievable revenue number. Or even Katherine, $200,000 in revenue for 2024. Okay. What is your average client need to spend with you and how many of those do you need? Okay. So let's talk about that from a business perspective. Okay. Are these revenue figures? Yeah, just, just annual sales, total sales, top line. The reason why it's called top line, because if you have a profit and loss statement on the top of the line, it says how much you made sales-wise before expenses, before everything else. There's just sales, top line. Bob said 10 million. Steve said 70K per client. Okay. So if it's 70K per client, Steve, how many clients do you need in order to get to your goal of 300,000? I want everyone to do this math again. Some people be like, I don't do math. I'm not an accountant. This is not accounting-level math. This is arithmetic. I'm, by the way, my business partner, who's my partner in my, um, in my AI circle, right? The, the, the class that we do teaching people. AI for marketing, whatever. She, she has a PhD in mathematical neuroscience. She's a pretty smart cookie. And I tell her, let's do the math. She's like, that's not math. That's arithmetic. I'm like, okay.
Okay.
I'm gonna use that in my seminars, guys. Let's do the arithmetic. Okay. Let's do 1+ 1= 2. If you, if, how many clients do you need? How many clients do you need? Okay. Now that you have your business, Strategy in place. Now we're moving to the marketing strategy part. If you decide that you need 5 to 6 clients, 5 clients, you know, whatever, how many clients? 20 clients? 4 clients? If you need 4 clients, then from the marketing perspective, if somebody says, Joe, I need 4 clients at an average of $70,000 each, I said, okay, well then how many qualified leads do you need in order to achieve those 4 clients? Right. Think about that for a second. And when you say, hang on, what, what, you said qualified leads, what qualifies as a qualified lead? That's a great question. Everyone needs to answer what qualifies as a qualified lead. Now, when I did sales training myself, and I've been through a lot of sales training, read a lot of books, one of the things that really hit me on the top of the head was just because somebody, you have someone's contact information doesn't mean you have a lead and doesn't even mean you have a qualified lead. I once invested a couple thousand dollars in a, in a software called Sales Genie. Have you ever heard, has anyone ever heard of Sales Genie? Anyway, they basically sell you old contact information and they call it leads. And they say you get 5,000 leads a month. And I was like, oh my God, 5,000 leads a month. I'm gonna download all the leads. I'm gonna have tens of thousands of leads by the end of the year. I'm gonna be rich, rich. I tell you, I'm gonna be rich. Anyway, I downloaded all the leads and I called them and they were just like, what? These are not leads. I can't even get through to these people. How are these leads? No one even raised their hand. A lead is somebody who raised their hand. They're not necessarily qualified. If a child raises their hand with no money, give them lemonade. That doesn't mean they're ready to buy from you. Just because somebody reaches out to you on your website, some spammer writes something, doesn't mean you got a lead, right? So you need a lead, but then you also need a qualified lead. So what I learned was something very fascinating, and I think you could write this down if you want to. Is in order for someone to be a qualified lead, they need 4 key components. Number one is they need to actually have a need for your services. Just because somebody tells you that they want to work with you, it doesn't mean they actually have a need for your services. So they're not qualified. Somebody called me up today and he told me he wants to work with me. And then I told him about my marketing, my marketing funnel services at Ajax Union. And I realized, you know, he doesn't really need it. He doesn't really need additional leads. He doesn't need any of that. And so like he wants to work with me, but there's no need there. So he's never going to be able to be a good customer. Number 2 is, is the person the decision maker? Now, if they say they have the need, but they're not the decision maker, do they really have the need? Does it really matter? So number 2 is the authority. Do they have the authority to even decide if the need is valuable or not? If not, you talking to the wrong person. What, like what, you know, if the woman makes a decision in the house and you're talking to the husband, it doesn't matter what the husband says. You got to get through to the woman to see if she really believes that there's a need. Right. So the qualified, that's not a qualified lead. So you got to have the need, the decision maker. Also, they need to be able to afford what you're offering. Today I spoke to somebody and I said, my marketing services are $10,000 to $15,000 a month. He said, is that Does that include ad spend? I said, no, that's just for agency services. And he's like, what do you— he's like, I'm not even in the ballpark to spend even like a few hundred dollars. I said, so join my AI circle. Join the AI circle. It's, you know, it's a couple dollars and I'll, I'll walk with you. I'll help you. And he's like, okay, I'll join your AI circle. I can't afford to spend $10,000, $15,000. He doesn't have the budget. He's not qualified to work with Ajax Union. And number 4, the last thing is, um, timeframe.
Mm-hmm.
They need to have the timeframe. So number 1 is the need. Number 2 is the authority. Number 3 is the budget. And number 4 is the timeframe. If somebody doesn't, is not ready to work with me in the next 60 days, they're not qualified. They're not qualified. What, you know what I usually say? I say, okay, fine. You have the need, you're the authority, you have the budget and everything. I said, let me ask you a question. If everything turns out right and we work through all the problems and you're ready to sign on the dotted line, would you want to get started? This week, next week, or maybe in like a year or 2 years from now? The person's like, probably in 2 years from now when my business gets funding, you know, I have the budget, but like when my business gets funding and I'm ready, then I'll work with you. He's like, but in the meantime, can you make a proposal for me? I'll, I say, I'll be very honest with you. No. He's like, what do you mean? You're not going to make me a proposal? I want to do business with you in 2 years from now. I said, let's talk in like 18 months. I'm not gonna sit here and spend my time making you a proposal cuz maybe you'll work with me in 2 years from now. Who's, who knows where we'll be in 2 years? Maybe World War III would happen next week and then we'll all be out of everything. You know, we'll all be out of wifi and you won't be able to email me. And then I made you a proposal and wasted all this time. I could have been planting in my vegetable garden some extra carrots to prepare for World War III. You know, you gotta have carrots, carrots and marijuana. Um, Glenn says, I used to do it for years. I did exactly what you said. I still have the database. Yeah, that's Sales Genie. It's crazy. We have all these, we're hoarding contacts. And a lot of people do that on LinkedIn. They just add connections, add connections, add connections, add connections, and they don't do anything with the connections. And they think they're leads. They think all these connections are leads. Out of the 1 billion people on LinkedIn, only 60 million are logging in every day. It's still a big number, but 60 million log in every day. They spend 17 minutes per day on LinkedIn. Crazy. There's a lot of people doing that, but it's not all of them. So chances are 80% of your connections don't even log in every day. And then you're wondering why they didn't answer your direct message. Get a better strategy. Learn how to find engaged people on LinkedIn. Learn the signals of engagement. What are the signals? How can you look at someone's profile and know if they're an engaged LinkedIn user? And what are some other marketing techniques that you could do to qualify people? So for example, we have a Sales Navigator bootcamp. For example, we teach people Sales Navigator. One of the things that we teach inside our bootcamp is Finding the right lists, right? List strategy is really important. So with marketing, you need to have the right list. If you're targeting the wrong list, I don't care what type of goal you have. If you don't have a list of prospects— okay, now I said prospects. Some of you'll be like, hang on a second, you just introduced a word called prospects before you said leads. What's the difference between a prospect and a lead? Does anybody know the difference between a prospect and a lead? Who wants to take a stab at this in the chat? The difference between a prospect and a lead, by the way, I'm gonna take a swig of water because a 5% drop in hydration is a 30% drop in energy. So if you wanna get motivated, as Adam said earlier, if you wanna get motivated, you gotta get hydrated. Ah, it's delicious. Delicious and nutritious.
Okay.
All right. Suspect and prospect. Okay. Prospects are possible leads. Prospects is a potential client. So the word prospect has prospective client in it. You guys get that? If someone is a prospective client, the right psychographic, the right demographic, the right geographic, the right firmographic. They're prospective clients. That doesn't mean they're a qualified lead. So you gotta get your list of prospects, and then you gotta figure out how to use marketing to qualify them, to determine if they're qualified. Now, a lead is someone that reaches out to you or someone that raises their hand. You gotta qualify them to see if they're a qualified lead. Now, sometimes you can turn your prospects into leads. And then you can identify if they're qualified. If they're not qualified, you could use marketing to qualify them and to make them qualified eventually. There's something called marketing qualified. Those are prospects. And there's something called sales qualified, which they're ready to be closed. They're ready to be worked on. So you gotta have your business strategy, your business plan. You gotta have your marketing plan to identify, okay, so how many leads do I need in order to get X amount of qualified leads? How many people raises their hand? Out of those, how many of those will be qualified? And out of those, how many of them will turn into an account over what period of time? What is the buyer cycle? So you gotta write these stuff down in order for you to really understand that. Now, you may not have the answer yet because marketing is about testing. I tell this to all my clients. We don't know what's gonna happen. We know that we can test. And if you test, then you'll know. How many, uh, leads you need in order to get how many qualified leads in order for you to know how many clients you're gonna actually have. And there is a, there is a number. There is a number. If you do it correctly and you qualify correctly, there is a number. And if you have the right engagement strategies, if you have the right funnel set up, there's top of the funnel, middle of the funnel, bottom of the funnel. If you have the right materials, you have the right pitch deck, and you can use artificial intelligence to help you build out your pitch deck. If you have the right case studies. Do you guys have case studies? The right testimonials. Do you have testimonials? You can have AI make up testimonials for you, and then you can take up those made up testimonials and get your clients to say, yes, this is what I said, and have them say it. You can clone your clients' voices and have them literally say it, and then them be okay with it because they gave you permission. Cool, right? If it's cool, if what I just said was cool, write cool in the chat. I'm curious to know how many people are feeling cool right now. Give me a cool in the chat. So we're talking about a lot. And then when we talk about LinkedIn, right? So we talked about, um, a business strat, a business plan, a marketing plan, a LinkedIn plan. Let's talk about a LinkedIn plan. What's a LinkedIn plan in order? So let's say, you know, that you want 5 clients. Which means you need, let's say, 20 qualified leads and you need 40 leads. Okay? So let's say you need 40 leads, 20 of them will be qualified and 5 of them will become clients. Okay? That's, that's your math. Then the question is, how many connections do you need on LinkedIn and what activities do you need to do in order for you to be able to achieve that? How many emails do you need to send out to those people? How do you need to target them on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, through advertisements, retargeting, YouTube, targeting those specific people? So the answer might be 5,000. You'd be like, what? To get 5 clients? 5,000? Yes. You can't just email 6 people and get 5 clients tomorrow. You're wondering why it didn't work. You didn't work. You got, you gotta do the work. You gotta put it in. 5,000. Yeah. You need 5,000. Contacts to get 40 leads, to get 20 qualified leads, to get 5 clients. That's just what's gonna happen. Now, to get 5,000 people on LinkedIn is not rocket science. It's not rocket science, but you don't only use LinkedIn. You use tools like Apollo. I don't know if you guys ever heard of Apollo. Apollo's a great tool to find email addresses of people, but you know, there's a big thing coming happening in March. Did you guys hear what's happening February 1st? I mean, with Google. Uh, Gmail and Yahoo are suddenly going to block all, all people spam, like all people that— all marketing emails going to be blocked all of a sudden. Did you guys hear about this? Say yes or no in the chat. I'm curious to know. Yes or no, I heard about it, didn't hear about it. This is a— this is like a big deal. Look into this. Look into this, guys. If anybody wants to drop a link about this, just Google Yahoo and Gmail February 2024. Look into it. If you have an email list, this is gonna be a big problem. Uh, Anesta said if 5,000 would generate that, what is it for 3,500? Okay. It depends. It depends on so many different factors. I'm giving you random numbers. I don't even know if those are the numbers, but I'm just giving you an idea of how I want you to think. If somebody comes to me and says, Joe, I sent 100 emails, no one answered. I'll be like, all right, well, you sent 100 emails. Nobody answered. Of course nobody answered. You send 100 emails. I want you to send 100 emails a day for 100 days. Let's see what happens then. And I want you to change the messaging to have the right messaging. We're going to get to messaging. We're not even up to that, but that's the idea, you know? And a lot of times, if 5,000— if you need to get 40 leads from 5,000, from 3,500, you might only get 20 leads. And then you might only get 10 qualified and you might only get 2 customers and you'll wonder why you didn't hit your quota. You gotta up the volume on the outreach, on the tactics, on SEO, on SEM, on social media, on email marketing. You gotta up the volume and you're gonna get many more leads. And from those, you're gonna get many more qualified. And from those, you're gonna get clients. But there's a lot that happens in the process. Have you guys ever read DotCom Secrets by Russell Brunson? Adam, did you ever read that book? Such a great book.
Yeah, I have read that one, Joe. It's, it's a sensational book.
He talks about the Seinfeld series, which is an email you send to people every single day that's about nothing. I love that.
I love that.
Such a great book. I also read Expert Secrets. If you guys are experts, any experts in the house, what, what, what are you an expert in? Everyone in the chat, tell me what your expertise is. My expertise is AI for business development, AI for marketing. That's my expertise because I'm really, really good at prompt engineering. I'm really good at learning tools pretty quickly and teaching them to people. Um, says, I teach SAP to fortunes. I love that. SAP is a great software to teach. I have, uh, somebody that built an SAP course and then sold it, and now he built AI software. Fine art and commercial photography. She's an expert on that. Online business management, OBM. Love that. Phil said enterprise strategy and implementation, asset protection, helping match managers, execs with franchise opportunities. Oh my gosh. Amazing. That's great. Marketing, business transformation and marketing, creating inspiring websites. That's amazing. A web designer, customer service. You're an expert at customer service. Knowing what you're an expert in is essential. If you don't know what your expertise is, then how are you supposed to be successful at something? If you don't know what your target market is, it becomes very difficult. Okay. So now once you have your plan in place, and I taught you guys about the plan, now you need to figure out what is your target market. Now there's many ways to figure out your target market. Russell Brunson talks about it in DotCom Secrets, talks about it in Expert Secrets. Target market's really important. There's another book I want you to consider reading called The Million— Hundred Million Dollar Offers by Alex Hormozi. Anybody read that book here? Great book. Great book. I have it on Audible. Um, Jackie just read it. Amazing. Really fantastic book. The reason I like that book so much is because it really breaks down how to create an offer. He talks about how to pick a target market, which is very interesting, but he also talks about how to create an offer. And I had did a bunch of LinkedIn Lives on this. So if you guys wanna go back and watch my LinkedIn Lives, you Go to my LinkedIn profile. I think my LinkedIn profile is joe linkedin dot com. I bought a domain, joe linkedin dot com. Does it still work? I'm curious to know if that still works. You guys could try it out. Check out my domain and see if it works. Yeah, yeah. So Tina just wrote in the chat. She wrote hundred million dollar offers. How to make offers so good. People feel stupid saying no. That's a powerful, powerful, powerful idea, powerful thought. So I want you guys to really think about that. I want you guys to think about how, how are you going to do what you need to do to be successful? How are you going to pick the right target market? If you don't have the right target market, if you don't have a specific target market, it's going to be very, very, very difficult to be successful. Very difficult to be successful. It's so hard to be successful if you don't have the right target market. So I want you to consider what is your target market? Okay. Anything else that you— okay. So somebody just put in my, uh, my chat over there in my chat, they put in the thing. Awesome. Put in my LinkedIn URL. So guys, click on that and then click on event, click on events, and you'll be able to see all my lives if you scroll down through. And I have some on marketing strategy there as well. Okay. I have a question for you. I have a question for you. Who is your target market right now? I'm in Brooklyn, New York, but I'm moving to New Jersey. Who is your target market? Go ahead and tell me who your target market is right now. In the chat, who is your target market? For me, it's HVAC CEOs as I'm specifically targeting them for the AI Business Development Circle. I'm targeting coaches and consultants, entrepreneurs that wanna learn AI a little more general over there. I went a little more general on purpose. I've trained over 1,000 people on how to use AI, and the people that I've trained are coaches and consultants. It's still a niche. Because I'm teaching them how to use AI. So people that wanna learn how to use AI and wanna do marketing and business development, I have a niche. It's not just any coaching consultant, it's coaches and consultants in business development that wanna learn business development. So my question to you is, who is your target market? Go ahead, take a moment and put in your target market in the chat. Again, the more specific— I want you to modify it and add a geographic area to your target market. Okay. HVAC and a geographic— let, let's kind of like hone in on this a little bit. If you can pick a geographic area, I picked the United States. I work with people in 15 different countries. LinkedIn has 200 countries in it. My question to you is, who is your target market? In the chat, go ahead and put it in. Business presentation. Try to add a geographic area to it and also try to add their revenue level. Or their goal, but preferably their revenue level or how many employees they have. Okay, try to do that right now. I'm going to take a moment for you guys to do that. I'm going to take a moment for you guys to do that. Go ahead and do that. Business coaches and consultants, I love that. Love that. Australian importers. Amazing. Adam, I'm going to drop a link to a WhatsApp chat group that I just created called Marketing Strategy in the chat if you want to share that with everybody. So this way If you guys have questions after this, you can jump into that WhatsApp chat and we can all be part of it. Just click on it and make sure that it works first, Adam. I don't know if you use WhatsApp, Adam, but I use WhatsApp. Um, and if it works, you can share that with everybody else and we can ask questions thereafter and keep the conversations going.
Yep. It's working fine.
Okay, good. So Adam just shared with everybody the link to the WhatsApp chat. So if you guys want to join me in a little WhatsApp chat for later, we can keep this conversation going because you guys are for sure going to have questions about this. So let me give you some key ideas around how to pick a target market. Number one is you want people with money, right? You want a rich target market. HVAC companies typically have money because they have residual revenue. HVAC is a big industry. Um, you know, you spend, people spend $30,000, $40,000, $50,000 on an HVAC unit. They have to spend on maintenance. There's a lot there. So I want you guys to think about a rich target market. The other thing I want you to target, uh, figure out is someone who's distinguishable, someone that hangs out somewhere. HVAC, they have associations. I can just Google HVAC companies and find so many, right? Can you easily find your target market? If it's hard to find them, then you have a terrible target market. Are you supposed to be able to find them? So make sure that they're findable. Make sure that they have an affinity to you. Like you have some relationship with it. What's your relationship with that target market? Did you used to work in that target market? Do you like that target market? Do you know something about that target market? Don't just randomly pick a target market because they have money, because they're easily found, but you have to have a relationship to it. I've worked with many HVAC companies in the past, and now I have a lead magnet where I interviewed the CEO of a major HVAC company that sold. So that's an asset that I have that these companies want, and then they'll wanna talk to me after they watch the asset. That's the idea. Jackie said, my target market use the services that I offer. Amazing. That's great. So I want, I go, I want you guys to really consider that in terms of your target market. The next thing I want you to think about is the messaging to your target market. So when it comes to marketing strategy, you need to figure out what the messaging is. So how are you going to come up with your messaging? So your messaging includes what are their pains, what are their goals, what are their dreams, and what are their fears? You guys, did you guys get those 4 things? Now the pains are what they're feeling right now as problems or issues. Some people call it issues. You got issues with your tissues. Some people have issues. Anybody here have problems? I got 99 problems. Anybody here have any problems? No, no problems in the house. Let's put on the 99 Problems instrumental. Let's see if it works. No, it doesn't work. It's not working for some reason. Okay, either it works or it doesn't work. Let's see, let's see why it's not working. Nvidia, let me change my speakers. All right, let's change. Let's put on some instrumental.
Let's see.
Yo, anybody got problems? No? You got to figure out the problems of your target market. If you guys don't know the problems of your target market, it's going to be a big problem for you. You gonna do a problem rap? I can, I can actually have ChatGPT write up a problem, Matt. Um, so I'm gonna ask ChatGPT, I'm gonna go to ChatGPT and I'm gonna say, give me the top problems, uh, the top problems, goals, dreams, and fears of HVAC CEOs in the US. That are $10 to $100 million in revenue. Okay. Now it, now ChatGPT is gonna give me a comprehensive view of the top problems, the goals, the dreams, the fears of HVAC CEOs in the United States. And then after it's done giving me their top problems and all their goals, I'm gonna tell it to make, make it into a rap. In the voice of 99 Problems, in the, in the Jay-Z tone, in the tone and voice of Jay-Z. Does anybody like Jay-Z? Is Jay-Z a good artist? I don't know why the universe has been telling me to look into Jay-Z lately. I don't know why. Does anybody like Jay-Z? Yes, no, maybe so? Are you guys still here? Anyone here? Anyone still here? Not into rap. Okay, am I gonna offend you if I rap? Are you gonna be offended? I'm curious to know. Oh, Glenn said yes, he's gonna be offended.
Oh, have you—
oh, you heard of Jay-Z? Jackie said I'm not gonna be offended. Okay, okay, so you need to figure out what your messaging is. Are we going off the deep end or are we— are we doing fine here, guys? It's, it's a little late in New York, but rap is good. Okay, create a rap. In the voice of Jay-Z to the tune of 99 Problems about HVAC CEOs and their pains, goals, dreams, and fears. The song is being presented. By Joe Applebaum, CEO of Ajax Union, because his target is HVAC CEOs to help them with digital marketing services. All right, let's see what it does. Gordon said, can you please repeat the 4 components of messaging? Okay, so there's the now. The 2 components of now and the 2 components of later. The 2 components of now are the pains and the goals. What are the pains, the issues, the problems you're currently facing? And what are the goals, the things that you need now? And then the later stuff, the 2 components of later are what are the fears? So if your pains and issues don't get solved, what fears do you have? What might happen? And then what are the dreams? If you do get to your goals now, the short-term goals that you have, what dreams will be fulfilled? You guys get that? If you— somebody said can't stand rap. Oy vey. So maybe we should do some classical music, not to offend you. Some people like it. Some people hate it. I don't know. Guys, what do you think? If you think we should do a rap, write do a rap in the chat. If you think we shouldn't do a rap, write don't do it. Let's see. Let's see what people say. Let's do a survey here. Do a rap or don't do a rap or it's a wrap. Or eat a tuna wrap. Okay, so let's see. We got one do a wrap, one don't. One do a wrap, one do a— okay, so we got 5 wraps. We got 5 wraps. Don't, don't. Oh my God, we get don't. We got please don't. Oh my gosh, we got more please don'ts. Oy vey.
Oy vey.
Should we do like an Alexander Hamilton something? Something else? Am I going to offend people so much that you're not going to want to do business with me if I do a rap? By the way, I once— I used to use a service called UberConference, and the service is now called Dialpad. And they allow you to create custom waiting room music. Okay. Do you guys know what custom waiting room music— you come to my conference room, you call 646-837-5697, and you wait in my conference room for me. And when you arrive to the conference room, there's custom music. So, you know, like the custom music that I decided to add there was a rap. That's what I did. I put on a beat and I started rapping and I said, now it's your turn. You rap. And a guy emailed me. This happened one time. He emailed me, he said, Joe, I was in your waiting room. I heard the rap music. He said, I will never do business with someone that raps. I am offended. This is the most terrible thing I ever heard in my life. You put me through misery waiting in that waiting room. And I'm thinking to myself, you could have left. You could have hung up if you have such an allergic reaction to rap. Like, you know, chill, dude. Um, anyway, he was majorly offended by it, and, you know, I felt bad for a moment, but I didn't take off the rap because so many people told me it's the best thing I ever heard in my life. It's the best thing I ever heard in my life. I heard from so many people. So I'm gonna play the song and let's see if we can rap. Yo, listen up, it's Joe on the mic. Ajax Union in the house. We're doing it right. We're talking about HVAC chiefs and their game. Big dreams in their minds, big goals to claim. You guys ready? Give me a boom in the chat if you're ready. Ah, first up, they got the competition heat. Gotta get out in the market so they can't accept defeat. Tech's evolving so fast, they gotta keep pace. Smart systems, green solutions, a high-tech race. Huh? Habanagila. Steve said, please stop. Okay, okay, we'll stop, we'll stop. We had enough, we had enough. Habanagila. Somebody wrote habanagila. I'll have to make a separate, a separate video, post it on LinkedIn, and if you guys don't want to watch it, don't follow me. Okay, how about that? Adam, were you getting a little uncomfortable there?
Adam's like, oh, I'm all good, mate. Just, uh, that's a skill I didn't know you had, but, uh, Okay.
Okay. I get very carried away. I like having a good time. They say, if you're not having fun, you're not really doing what you're doing. You know, you're not really enjoying it. You gotta enjoy what you do. You gotta have fun. You gotta take some risks. I took a risk. You know, you gotta take some risks. Um, the other thing I want you to consider as part of your strategy is storytelling. Most people are super boring. I told you guys, how many stories did I tell you? Do you guys even remember how many stories I told you? I told you a bunch. I told you, but I started off with a story. I didn't start off with an introduction. Did I introduce myself in the beginning? No. I say, hello everybody, I'm this and that. No, I talked about my mother's story. Do you guys remember that? Features tell, stories sell. I had a woman who's been coming to my mastermind group for a couple of months now. She said, Joe, you changed my life. I said, why? He's like, in the first session, you taught me how to create a course as a lead magnet. In the second session, you helped me create an outline for a book. In the third session, you helped me come up with a blogging strategy. She's like, you're blowing my mind. Every single session, you're blowing my mind. And because of the trainings that you've offered me over the past several years, we've taught her how to use a variety of different things. She's like, I 5x my business because I have the right strategy. And Joe, you always say the right strategy will save you a decade. You see the way I told you a story about a client named Tina? An actual client who 5x'd her business because of my strategies. Stories sell, features tell, but stories sell. So do you have stories in the chat? Write, I got stories, or write, I need to identify stories. Because if you need to identify stories, the AI is really good at helping you identify stories. Okay? Coming up with stories. If you got stories, you gotta tell those stories in a creative way. I would love to hear your stories. I'd love to see your stories on LinkedIn. I'd love to see your stories on email. I'd love to see your stories on YouTube, on videos. iPad Rosemary Walsh said, "I think I have a story." I'd love for you guys to share your stories on the WhatsApp group that we created that a couple of you already joined. Love seeing that. If you guys haven't joined the WhatsApp group, join the group. You need to identify stories. We have story finder frameworks that we give our students to teach them how to come up with stories. Okay. The next thing is you need to optimize your presence. Adam, thanks for putting in the WhatsApp chat again, guys, click on that WhatsApp chat and join the chat. So this way we can continue the conversation on WhatsApp after I'm off this and I'm in the middle of moving. Maybe I'll send you guys a selfie of me moving and I'll put it in the WhatsApp group. It's a private little group. I don't expect more than 10 people to join. Um, but it's really easy. Really easy. You gotta have a good presence. By the way, how many people have Googled themselves recently? And we only got about 5 minutes left of this presentation. So if you guys have questions, ask them. I'm happy to answer them, or I can just keep going through. I have an unlimited amount of information that I can share with you about this stuff. So if you have questions, I'm happy to answer them, but I'm gonna keep talking. When was the last time you Googled yourself? When was the last time you Googled Adam? Adam, Adam, have you Googled yourself today?
Not today, Joe, but it's only like 9 AM here, so give me time.
Google, everyone, let's Google Adam for a second. Number 1 on LinkedIn. Number 2, it says LinkedIn expert and consultant. Number 3 is his Twitter. Number 4 is his website slash Meet Adam. Number five is his Instagram. Number six is YouTube. Number seven is Facebook. Number eight, he has six beautiful images of his beautiful bald head. Number nine is Amazon, his book Influencer. Number ten is some article, some podcast, a hub system or whatever. Then Barnes and Noble's like he owns. He has a presence. He's an expert. He's got his shit together. If I Google your name, do you have your shit together? Do you have all those things that I just mentioned as a presence? Do you own the top 10 results for your own name? Yes or no? If I Google you, does there some other random shit that comes up, or do you own it? Do you own it? If you don't own it, don't make excuses and say there's a famous actor with your name. That's a bad excuse. Change your last name. Change your name. You can change your name these days. You don't have to get divorced to change your name. You could just say there's a serial killer chasing you, cybersecurity, something. There's ways to change your name. I know somebody that changed her name. She said her— she decided her name is bad luck. She changed her name. She's also divorced, and she didn't like her ex-husband. That's why she said it was bad luck. But I want you to consider changing your name if you have to, if you can't rank free. But you need a presence. Google my name. There are other Joe Applebaums in the world. I was not number one. I wasn't the only Joe Applebaum that existed. There's a guy that went to prison in Pennsylvania, seventy-something years old. There's a teacher. There's a this. There's there's other people that are like me. I I don't have the most unique name in the world. My last name means apple tree in German. There's a lot of Apfelbaums. Ja, das ist ein guten, guten Lastname. Ja, there's a lot of us. But if you go to my— if you Google my name and you look up the top 100 results, I own them. And as Adam said earlier, I got on over 100 podcasts for that reason, for that reason alone. If you guys want Access to a directory of podcasting directories so that you can get more podcasts. Just write directory in the chat and I'll tell you guys about a directory that I'm on that I think is valuable if you wanna get on more podcasts. And I'll give you guys a special deal. I'll give you my affiliate coupon code so you can save 20% off the premium directory.
Okay.
Okay. Okay. A lot of you said directory. So the directory is podcast And I know the CEO of this company. He doesn't make coupon codes for everybody. He just made a coupon code for me because I have 45,000 followers on LinkedIn. So the, the, the, um, and I like promoting him. He's a good guy. podcastguests.com. Let me check if it works. podcastguests, plural, .com. If you click on, um, guest directory, you'll see me as a guest, as a— and you can, anybody can sign up to be a guest. You just have to pay premium fee per month or whatever, but it's not a lot of money. And if you want 20% off, use code Mojo, M-O-J-O. Write that down. That's my affiliate code that gives you 20% off. And it also lets the CEO know that you got it from me. Okay. And like I said, he's not giving everybody codes, but he gave me a code. Because I'm friends with them on LinkedIn. We're buddies. And he's like, Joe, you're promoting me so much. Can you at least give people 20% off? Use your Mojo code. So I'm using my Mojo. podcastguests.com. Can't seem to access the WhatsApp group. Christian. Christian said he can't access the WhatsApp group. Christian, if you want, you can send me a WhatsApp message on my LinkedIn about section, which I updated today. My WhatsApp number's there. If you go to joelinkedin.com, send me a WhatsApp, Christian, and then I'll add you to the group manually if you want. I mean, I'm happy to do that. Um, but I can't do it right now because, um, you know, we're on this call right now, so I'm not going to do it right now. Okay. I gave you guys a lot of information today. Do you want me to keep giving you info? You know, there's technologies that you need as well. Besides a presence, you need to have the right technologies. You need marketing automation technologies. Mm-hmm. I use ActiveCampaign. There's so many different technologies out there that you could be using. Um, I use a tool called Briskine for templates. I use a tool called Apollo.io. I know Adam has a really good commenter tool that I highly recommend, an AI commenter tool. Adam, you can share a link to your tool so people can get your tool, um, or to your program. I'd love to see you promote yourself. If you can share a link so people can sign up to your software. Um, and to your program. I always love promoting the hosts of the shows that I'm on. I, I'm a big fan of that. I think it's really important to be great, grateful to the people that are, that give you a place to speak. Um, and Adam's gonna be at the Influencer Summit. He's gonna be presenting. You guys should come. influencersummit2024.com. 2024. We have 8 amazing influencers that are coming, and Adam's gonna be one of them. So guys, come and tell everybody how amazing Adam is. Influencer. Okay. So we have Adam's software there. Definitely sign up to his Ninja Club. Um, what do you think about Billy Gene training? I think Billy Gene's a good dude. He's a good marketer. I actually bought his training. I bought, I bought his Black Friday deal. I bought everything he ever offered. I didn't watch much of it because it's so much. It's like so much information. He gives so much information and he's a good sales guy. Um, he's a good dude. He's, you know, it's, it's, I, it's worth investing in him just because he has amazing ads. And that's what I say. It's not expensive. It's a couple dollars. You're not spending tens of thousands of dollars or even hundreds of dollars. You gotta find someone that resonate, that you resonate with to train you, to coach you. It's not about the person. It's about your personality and how you connect with the person. So if you like a person's humor and candor and their experience, and you think you could learn from them, invest in them. You know, think about how much people invest in university, in college. They spend hundreds of thousands. I had one employee, she had $250,000 in college debt, and she— I was paying her minimum wage to work for me. She had a PhD in sexuality and she was doing marketing for me. I was like, why don't you work in sexuality? Like, why don't you do something with your degree? She's like, I need money. There's no money there. I was like, so why'd you pay so much for a degree? She's like, I don't know. I just got I got financial aid and it just worked. And, and then people aren't willing to spend a few thousand bucks on a course that can change their life, you know? So you gotta invest in yourself. I've spent tens of thousands of dollars on courses and I took Tony Robbins and I did Landmark and I did so many different courses and programs and books, and I'm always investing in programs and I'm learning so much from them. So Billy Gene, great guy, highly recommended. He, uh, his a— his AI training's great. Um, he has a lot of information that he teaches. All right. Any other questions that you guys have for me? So technologies, making sure you have the right marketing automation technology, the right data technologies, the right technologies that integrate with LinkedIn. Uh, we mentioned Adam's technology. There's also, there's also technology that helps you automatically post onto social media. Have you guys heard of buffer.com? B-U-F-F-E-R. There's a friend of mine who built a LinkedIn app called AuthorUp that helps you author up posts. It's a Chrome extension. Um, and then there's like the tactics, you know, there's search, there's social, there's email. So highly recommend that. Do you en— how do you ensure authenticity with generated material? Um, well, if you wanna know if it's authentic, if it's like not made up, Then you have to ask AI for their sources. You got to get sort— you got to get the sources. It depends. Like, for example, you know, like a rap, who cares if it's made up? You know, like it's made up. But like research data and statistics, 44% of statistics are made up, including this one. Yeah, the AI is really good at making up statistics. You can tell it, make up statistics. And it'll just make up a bunch of statistics. That's why I said have it make up testimonials from your customers and then get those testimonials approved by your customers. So this way they become real testimonials, but you didn't write them. They didn't write them, but it was something they would say. Get it? That's how you make it authentic. Uh, but you gotta ask it for its sources if, if you want that. And if you want AI to sound like you, learn how to train the AI to sound like you. I wrote a LinkedIn post about training AI. Um, so if you want that, just hit me up on LinkedIn. I'll send you that post. Okay. Um, I also wrote a LinkedIn article, a newsletter article about, about training the AI to hear, to be in your voice or whatever. But if you guys need more stuff, you know, join our masterclass. We're meeting on Monday for 3 hours. So if you wanna join that, it's the AI Circle. It's evergreen.com/aicircle.
