So you want to learn how to create your very own digital marketing strategy. But how do you create a proper marketing strategy? They say that energy without strategy is a waste of time. So we've developed this 3-step system, which is goals, target, and solution, that will help you take your business from no direction to an amazing digital marketing strategy. Let me explain to you how it works. So step number 1 is setting your goals. So what does it mean to set your goals? So if you go through this, you'll realize that goals has 3 easy steps, which is revenue, accounts, and growth. So what does it mean to set your revenue goals? Let me show you. So first you want to know is how much money do you want to make this year? When I ask most people that, they say as much as possible. But setting an as much as possible goal is not going to help you be able to have a documented digital marketing strategy because garbage in, garbage out. You have to understand your revenue, your profit, your gross profit, your cost of goods sold, your net profit, how much capacity you can have, and how much you can spend. and what your numbers are, what your targets are for you to be able to hit them. You will not get an ROI if you can't define what an ROI is. After that, once you get your revenue goals in place, then you want to understand your accounts. What is your average revenue per user? How many accounts do you need? Did you know that not all accounts are created equal? Certain accounts will help you get to your goal and certain accounts will suck the life out of you and won't allow you to get to your goal. So you must understand your accounts which ones are monthly recurring revenue, one-time lead-in project, backend, what your churn is. All that is important for you to be able to establish your marketing strategy. And the third step is your marketing budget. Most people that I speak to when I ask them, what is your marketing budget? They say, I have an unlimited budget if you can send me the right results. Does that resonate with you? If you don't test, you're not going to be able to learn. So marketing is about testing. And if you don't learn, you're not going to be able to earn. So people often say, how much money do you have to burn so I can learn and earn? And I say, you know what, you don't have to burn any money. You can use a scientific method to figure it out. And we've built this cool calculator at ajaxunion.com/calc that will show you exactly how you can create your marketing budget. You have to understand that your lifetime value plus your cost per acquisition will determine your real ROI. So how fast can you afford to grow your business? That's the question that you have to answer from a revenue standpoint to set the first step to getting your marketing strategy in place. Does that make sense? Well, if it makes dollars, it makes sense. Let's move on. Target. What does it mean to have your target in place? Well, there are 3 easy steps for that as well, which is value, buyer, and company. Let me explain to you what that means. So first of all, you want to understand your company. So we only want amazing clients. What does that mean? The geographic of the companies you're targeting, the demographic, like how big the company is and specifically the type of company. And the psychographic— how do they think? What are their opinions, attitudes, activities, behaviors, values, and interests? What does the ideal company look like? Then you want to understand the 4 different buyers within a company and understand how they think and feel, what they hear, what they see, what they say and do, what their pains are, what their gains are. This is a picture of an empathy map that we can help you create for your business. And at the end, you have buyer personas for the different types of buyers, whether it's a decision maker, An influencer, a user, or a buyer. And then the last step is value, understanding your unique value proposition. How do you stand out from your competitors? What is the pain that you solve? What is the best solution in the market? And why are you the best solution? And this is a sample, an example of a unique value proposition for a B2B company. Now, once you get your goals and your target all organized, then the third step is solution, which is authority, positioning, and promise. So what does all that mean? Well, authority simply means why should I trust your business? How many clients have you serviced? What awards did you win? What PR did you get as a company? What makes you the expert? What is Google known for? Like, what words do you own? Maybe Google owns the word search. What is Volvo known for? Maybe Volvo owns the word safety or safe driving or safe car. What do you think about when you want to send something next day? What verb do you own? Do you— going to FedEx it? Would you hail a cab or do you send an Uber? You get my point. What is your authority? What word do you own? Then positioning. What's your positioning in the marketplace? How do you stand out from your competitor? What do you offer that your competitors don't? And there are a bunch of questions that you can ask to create your very own positioning statement. And we have a fill-in-the-blanks template that you can get if you join our bootcamp that will show you exactly how to create a unique value proposition and fill in the blanks. And the third step is promise. What is your guarantee? Why should I trust you? This is GEICO's guarantee: 15 minutes or less can save you 15% on your car insurance. Or BMW, the ultimate driving machine. What do you stand for?
