Weekly Happenings Email Overview

Joe Apfelbaum reviews a Harbor Point weekly email and suggests adding the week's date to the subject line, sending from a person's name instead of a generic address, and making the main call-to-action about renting properties, not just events.

Hi, this is Joe Apfelbaum, and I want to prepare this quick little video to show you what I saw. So I got this email from Harbor Point Weekly Happenings, and I'm going to give you a couple tips as to how to make this email better. So number one, the subject line. The subject line needs to be custom to that week. So if it's a weekly email that you sent out, I'm probably going to get one in a day. It should have the date or it should be a little more interesting than just weekly happenings. Harbor Point, what's happening week of August, whatever. And this way I know what's crackalackin'. Also, it's coming from mail@harborpointpt.com. It should probably come from a person even if it's a persona or from the CEO or something like that. This way people see it and they're like, oh my gosh, unbelievable. Also, right here there's a lot of space, just empty space. I would put a title or something that tells you what is going on, especially if you don't see images. Before you see the images, you don't really see anything. All this is kind of just empty space here, so it kind of looks weird. Also, like, call to action, getting people to subscribe, to like find out if they're interested in looking at a property. Or referencing something to do with the property would be nice. Right now I just see a bunch of these events, which is great. A list of events is awesome. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, all that's great. The only thing that I would add that's kind of like missing is a call to action with regard to your main goal, which is to rent out properties. So hopefully that was helpful. Let me see what happens if I click on the view the jazz brunch. What does that take me to? It opens to— it takes me to this Make a Reservation. Cool. What I would definitely do is get people back to your website if possible. If you have a Happenings page on your website, let me see if you click there. Right now that takes you straight to the homepage. I would say that this clicking on this Happenings shouldn't take you to the homepage, it should take you to the Happenings page where you can actually see the happenings that are going on. So if somebody opens up this email late, and the week already passed and all these events already passed, it could still be relevant if you click on this, it'll take you to the most relevant page, which I think is the happenings page, which— living happening, okay, click on happening. This is where it should kind of take you so you see what is the latest stuff that's going on. And you should also let people know, hey, if you want to check out the current happenings page, click there. And this way you'll be able to see how many people get back to the website. From there. So hopefully that was helpful. Let me know what you think. Talk to you soon. Good luck sending out emails. Bye.
