In this introductory video, Programme Director Joe Houghton welcomes new students to the part‑time MSc in Project Management at UCD Smurfit Graduate School. He outlines his role as programme director and module leader for Management of Projects and Change, explains the hybrid delivery format (in‑person room E117 or Zoom via Brightspace), and notes the tentative mix of about 15 remote students. He stresses that remote participants must attend live (6‑8 pm Dublin time) with cameras on, and asks students to email him with their attendance plans. He points to Programme Office Manager Anne‑Marie Connolly for non‑academic queries and provides his own email for academic questions. He encourages students to connect on LinkedIn, introduce themselves, and assures them that most questions will be addressed in the first class, inviting further contact as needed.

Welcome to the Part-Time Master's in Project Management at the Smurfit Graduate School of Business. I'm Joe Houghton, the Programme Director and one of the teaching team, and I'll be working with you throughout your programme and leading the initial module that you'll all take this semester, Management of Projects and Change. If you're coming into college for your classes, we're going to be in room E117, which is down the corridor behind the services desk. Just ask anybody in college where that is if you come in for the first time. Or if you're taking the programme remotely, obviously we'll send you a Zoom link. It would be great if you get the chance to find out how many of you are planning to do classes remotely. At the moment we've got about 15 signed up and I've no idea yet if we're going to be mostly in person, online, and how that mix will work, and that's something we're going to be led by you on as the programme goes on, but we'll see in the first class and adjust as needed. But if you want to just drop me an email and introduce yourself and let me know whether you're actually planning to come in or whether you're coming in online, that would be great. If you are planning to attend classes remotely, we do need you to attend in real time. The class community will be built by people doing these classes in real time, so that'll typically be 6 to around 8 PM Dublin time via the Zoom link that will be provided on the Brightspace learning platform. And for this hybrid class to work, the other thing that we need for all remote attendees is for you to have your cameras on. So if you don't yet have a webcam, will you get one as soon as possible? Because we are going to expect that for every class. If there are any other issues we can help with, the Programme Office Manager for this course is Anne-Marie Connolly, so she will deal with any non-academic questions, things like registrations and stuff like that. For Anne-Marie, and then for all academic-related queries, that's queries related to the coursework specifically, hopefully I can answer those, so joe.houghton@gmail.com or joe.houghton@ucd.ie. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Most of your questions will probably be covered in the first class session, so get through those and then, you know, if there's anything still outstanding, do let us know. Okay, um, please connect with me on LinkedIn and introduce yourself as one of the new class. I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all and starting our learning journey together.
