Start in self-storage sooner rather than later. Get accurate information, build a strong network, and dive into underwriting deals and talking to brokers. Your network quality matters most.
As long as you're not too young, it's better to get started sooner than later. Get the right information, get the right network around you, and you're good to go. It was an overload of information. It felt like a fire hose of information when I first started learning about self-storage, but I just jumped into it. I just like jumped into the water and started doing it. I started underwriting, I started calling brokers, just familiarizing myself with communicating with them. And Yeah, it was— I would say it's just the network you have around you.
